ABOUT THE ROLE We're looking for a Hardware Systems Engineer with strong robotics and software expertise to own the system, hardware, and electrical/electronics (EE) level requirements for a new Applied Intuition product of strategic importance. Working from vehicle-level requirements, you'll decompose and allocate them into clear, testable system and hardware requirements, and you'll define the EE systems for the test benches and rigs used to validate the product. This is a requirements- and architecture-focused role - you will not perform hands-on hardware development (no schematic capture, PCB layout, or board bring-up). Instead, you define what the hardware and test infrastructure must do, own the requirements and architecture in a model-based environment, and establish the process, tooling, and traceability foundations - ASPICE, Polarion, and Cameo - that the rest of the program builds on. AT APPLIED, YOU WILL: Requirements from vehicle-level requirements * Decompose and allocate vehicle-level requirements into system-, hardware-, and EE-level requirements; define system bounds, capabilities, and functional features. * Convert customer needs and autonomy/Vehicle OS use cases into system and hardware requirements and operational objectives for the system as a whole. * Ensure the built system meets its intended requirements, and keep requirements current as vehicle-level requirements evolve. EE systems for benches & rigs * Define the electrical and electronics (EE) architecture for the test benches and rigs used to validate the product, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) rigs and bench setups. * Specify power distribution, wiring and harnessing, signal interfaces, instrumentation, data acquisition (DAQ), sensor/actuator emulation, and safety interlocks for benches and rigs. * Capture bench and rig requirements and interfaces, and partner with the teams that build and maintain them so the infrastructure delivers the coverage needed to verify system and software requirements. Architecture & modeling * Use Cameo (MBSE/SysML) to build, maintain, and analyze the functional and logical architecture, and define variant management for Vehicle OS products. Verification, traceability & compliance * Own validation and verification of requirements at both the system and hardware level. * Maintain end-to-end traceability across user journeys, features, system requirements, subsystem/hardware/EE requirements, bench and rig definitions, and test cases - across the full toolchain. * Define processes for ASPICE Level 2 compliance, partner with the QA team to meet industry standards (e.g., ISO 26262 functional safety), and configure Polarion (requirements management) and Cameo (architecture management) for compliant industry processes. Cross-functional collaboration * Work daily with hardware, embedded, perception, and autonomy software teams, providing requirements guidance so the delivered design stays as close as possible to the intended design. * Coordinate with test, validation, and lab teams to align bench and rig capability with the program's verification needs. WE'RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS: * 3+ years of systems or hardware systems engineering experience (5+ preferred) covering requirements, functional decomposition and allocation, analysis, and verification. * Bachelors and/or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. * Experience deriving and allocating requirements from higher-level (e.g., vehicle-level) requirements. * Working understanding of EE systems - power, wiring and harnessing, signal interfaces, instrumentation, and DAQ - sufficient to define test benches and rigs. * Excellent written and verbal communication - able to move fluidly between deep technical detail and stakeholder-level clarity. ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a Autonomy Verification engineer with a background in autonomy, autonomous driving and/or ADAS. This engineer will work on performance evaluation of autonomy at the system and module level. This engineer will play a critical role in shaping the technical direction of this project towards measuring autonomy features and autonomous driving. AT APPLIED INTUITION, YOU WILL: * Develop and execute the system validation strategy for one or more autonomy modules (perception, planning, prediction, localization) for L4 trucking * Build comprehensive and diverse datasets from simulations and real world data * Work closely with systems engineering teams on validation test plans to ensure completeness and coverage across ODD and behavior * Develop statistical and machine learning models to analyze historical and simulation data for safety performance evaluation. * Identify, develop and measure performance metrics and report on performance evaluation * Identify, build and deploy frameworks/pipelines to enable metric generation and evaluation * Support generation of the safety case and release recommendation reports WE'RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS: * 3+ years of experience in ADAS or Autonomous driving * MS/BS degree in Robotics, Aerospace, Computer Science, or equivalent required * Experience with scripting and simulation tools * Experience with ADAS, autonomous systems and robotics * Knowledge of existing standards and regulations relevant in the automotive industry, esp. ABOUT THE ROLE Applied Intuition builds the software infrastructure for autonomous vehicles across passenger cars, trucking, mining, and defense. Our Self-Driving Systems (SDS) team develops production-grade autonomy stacks deployed on real vehicles across multiple continents, from highway trucking in Japan to urban ADAS in the United States and Europe. We are looking for a Technical Lead Manager to own the perception model at the core of our autonomy stack. This is a single combined model: shared backbone, multi-task heads, serving every SDS program from the same codebase. The same model runs on a passenger car in Los Angeles, a truck in rural Japan, and an offroad vehicle in the Philippines. Different sensor configurations, different road geometries, different weather distributions, one model. You will lead the team that trains, evaluates, and ships this model, and you will be hands-on in the architecture and training decisions that drive its performance. AT APPLIED INTUITION, YOU WILL: * Own the perception model end-to-end: architecture, training, evaluation, and deployment. The core challenge is building a model that generalizes across geographies, road types, sensor setups, and environmental conditions without per-vertical forks. * Drive a camera-first perception strategy. The goal is to progressively reduce dependencies on HD maps and lidar. How to get there is part of the job. * Lead training and iteration cycles hands-on. You will be in the data, the eval dashboards, and the failure analysis. When perception regresses in a new geography or road type, you own understanding why and fixing it. * Own model performance across the full deployment surface: highway, urban, residential, ramps, complex intersections, poor weather, hilly terrain. You care about on-vehicle driving outcomes, not just offline metrics. * Manage the model lifecycle from training through quantization and deployment on embedded compute, including device-specific optimizations. Close the gap between what the model does offboard and what it does on the vehicle. * Work directly with OEM customer programs to understand sensor configurations, target ODDs, and performance requirements. Translate these into model architecture and data strategy. * Recruit, develop, and technically lead a team of perception engineers. Set high technical standards and create a culture of rigorous experimentation and measurement. WE’RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS: * 5+ years in ML/deep learning for perception or 3D scene understanding. Deep hands-on experience training and deploying vision models at scale. * 2+ years managing a perception team, with ability to both set direction and contribute to architecture and training decisions directly. * Experience building production perception systems, especially camera-only or camera-first solutions. * Track record deploying perception models to embedded hardware under real-time latency and compute constraints, including device-specific optimizations. * Strong software engineering in Python and C++, comfortable across the stack from training code to onboard inference integration. * Experience scaling perception models across multiple geographies, sensor setups, or vehicle platforms. NICE TO HAVE: * Deep familiarity with transformer-based architectures for 3D perception, BEV representations, multi-task learning, and dense prediction. * Familiarity with occupancy-based scene representations, sparse query-based architectures, or temporal aggregation approaches. * Experience reducing or removing map dependencies in perception systems. * Background in autolabel pipelines, data quality monitoring, or data flywheel design for perception. * Experience with closed-loop simulation for perception model evaluation (neural sim, log sim, scenario-based testing). * Experience at an AV company that has shipped perception to production.
