The role:  As a Senior Software Engineer, Backend, you will leverage your deep technical expertise to ensure alignment, quality, and long-term maintainability across the organization. You will be building strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders, you will drive project delivery, and ensure our backend infrastructure remains scalable and robust enough to support millions of users worldwide. What you will do * Design and develop high-volume, low-latency services and cope with the challenge of working in a distributed environment. * Operate mission-critical services at high availability. * Collaborate across business units and drive solutions. * Explore new solutions and technologies. * Build a scalable and reliable system.  What you bring in:  * 5+ years of experience with Scala, Java, or Go  * Experience of working with scalable, highly available, real-time distributed systems * Experience of working with non-relational databases * Good understanding of data structures and algorithms * Mentoring/ Leadership skills * Excellent communication skills in English. * Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. It would be great if you also have: * Experience building systems in the Google Cloud Platform * Experience with virtualization environments, e.g., Docker * Experience with systems for managing containerized applications, e.g., Kubernetes * Experience with Cassandra and Kafka. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Design and develop distributed backend services using .NET and event-driven architecture. * Collaborate with product and commercial teams to turn engagement ideas into scalable, maintainable, and user-friendly solutions. * Optimize our microservice ecosystem for performance, reliability, and observability. * Drive our containerization and cloud migration strategy forward. * Participate in architecture discussions and help shape technical decisions. * For senior engineers: Lead architectural decisions and proactively identify areas for improvement. * Write maintainable, well-tested code and conduct code reviews. * Participate in incident resolution and the team’s on-call rotation. * Maintain clear technical documentation such as ADRs, runbooks, and guidelines. * Build and share your domain expertise within the team. WHAT TECH STACK YOU’LL BE WORKING WITH We don’t expect you to know everything listed below – but the more you’re familiar with, the better. What matters most is your ability to learn, collaborate, and write high-quality, maintainable code.  CORE TECHNOLOGIES These are essential to the role, and we’re looking for solid experience here – especially for senior candidates. * Languages & Frameworks: C#, .NET (modern versions after .NET Core) * Databases: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Redis, Couchbase (experience with relational or document databases, including indexing and query optimization, is a strong plus) * Cloud & Containers: AWS, Kubernetes, Docker (experience with any major cloud provider or containerization platform is valuable) * Testing & Quality: xUnit/NUnit, mocking frameworks, k6 for load testing (understanding of unit, integration, and performance testing is more important than specific tools) ADDITIONAL TOOLS & PRACTICES Familiarity with these of similar tools and concepts is a plus. * Messaging & Microservices: Web APIs, Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, Orleans (experience with any messaging or actor-based system is valuable) * Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Splunk (or experience with other observability stacks) * CI/CD: GitHub Actions, trunk-based development, progressive delivery (familiarity with continuous delivery pipelines and deployment strategies is more important than specific tooling) * Architecture: Domain-driven design, event sourcing, actor model, distributed systems at planet-scale * Ways of Working: Agile and Lean principles, DevOps mindset, strong collaboration WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU? ABOUT THE ROLE As a Deployment Strategist Lead, you'll be fully responsible for opening up a new market for ElevenLabs, and building a team to make it happen. This is a senior position in which you’ll operate as if a co-founder, working alongside an experienced sales leader, of an effective startup moving from 0 -> 1 within our broader org, aiming to deploy our voice AI technology at the most strategic customers in the market against their most challenging problems. All the while you’ll be able to leverage support from the rest of ElevenLabs to accelerate. You will be responsible for hiring the team you need, winning the first customers in the market and ensuring that our product generates impact for them. No two days are the same, but you should expect to: * Meet with strategic customers to understand their critical audio and voice AI needs and locate their biggest pain points. * Build and lead a team of forward deployed engineers within the region. * Identify relevant use cases through deep engagement with customer problems and workflows, and work with Engineers to implement our voice and audio AI technology into innovative solutions. * Design and architect bespoke integrations for customers, ensuring our technology fits seamlessly into their products and operations. * Guide customers on best practices for implementing our voice and audio AI models to maximise their effectiveness. * Present the results of our work and proposals for future work to audiences ranging from technical teams to C-suite executives. * Collaborate with our Research and Product teams to incorporate field insights into ElevenLabs' software products and AI models. * Build and deliver compelling demos of our voice and audio AI technology to new and existing customers. * Scope out potential applications in new industries and expand our AI solutions across different sectors globally. * Take full ownership of end-to-end execution of major projects for our most strategic partners, working hands-on to deliver high-impact solutions. * Collaborate daily with our customers' engineering and executive teams to ensure optimal implementation of ElevenLabs' technologies. REQUIREMENTS * Executive Stakeholder Engagement: Proven experience engaging and influencing C-suite and VP-level stakeholders, both internally and at customer or partner organizations. * People Leadership: Demonstrated ability to hire, develop, and manage high-performing technical teams while fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture. * Basic proficiency in Python and understanding of API integration to implement scripts and help with prototyping/demo building. * Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, especially in terms of ability to summarise complex technical concepts and using logic in pursuing optimal solutions. * Strategic and Commercial Awareness: Ability to align technical strategy with business objectives, with an understanding of deal structures, go-to-market motions, and revenue impact. * Technical aptitude to quickly understand our voice and audio AI models and their applications. * Nice-to-have: Partner Ecosystem Development: Experience identifying, building, and nurturing relationships with system integrators, resellers, and technology partners to drive market growth.
