You will be the senior technical leader for a set of strategic public sector accounts in Japan, using your executive‑level technical credibility and government expertise to shape and execute their data and AI strategy. Reporting to: Director, Field Engineering, Japan The impact you will have * Own technical strategy for key Japan public sector customers, defining the target architecture and roadmap for their Databricks‑based data and AI platform. * Lead solution design for priority government use cases (e.g., citizen 360 and eligibility, program analytics, smart infrastructure, cybersecurity, fraud/waste/abuse). * Design for security and compliance, ensuring architectures meet public sector expectations on data residency, access control, governance, and auditability. * Turn pilots into platforms, linking Databricks to visible mission outcomes and using those wins to drive expansion across bureaus, departments, and levels of government. * Influence the ecosystem, collaborating with SIs, cloud providers, and public sector partners to deliver integrated, production‑grade solutions on Databricks. * Mentor others, coaching Solutions Architects and partners on how to work effectively with Japan public sector stakeholders and patterns on the Databricks platform. What we look for * 10+ years in data platforms, analytics, or cloud architecture, including significant experience with public sector organizations in Japan. * Proven ability to build trust with senior government stakeholders (CIO, CDO, chief architect, bureau/department leaders) and lead high‑stakes technical discussions in Japanese. * Strong technical background in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing/Analytics, AI/ML, or Cloud Architecture, with a focus on solution design and platforms. * Experience architecting data and analytics solutions for public sector use cases (e.g., citizen services, program analytics, public safety, infrastructure, or cybersecurity). * Deep familiarity with Japan public sector decision‑making and delivery models, including how SIs and cloud providers support government projects. * Excellent communication skills, able to translate mission and policy needs into clear technical approaches and explain them to both technical and non‑technical audiences. * Language: Native‑level Japanese and business‑level English.
