Could you be the full-time Traction System Engineer in Västerås, Sweden we’re looking for?
Your future role
You will define the architecture, the functionalities of the traction drives or auxiliary converter systems. You will also technically lead the engineering studies in order to reach performances in compliance with the technical requirements.
We’ll look to you for
Collects external (customer, standards) and internal (rolling stock) requirements, allocates them to the technical teams.
Defines the architecture and functionalities of the traction drive or auxiliary converter system, taking as input the external requirements as well as internal ones
Ensures consistency and compatibility between all traction or auxiliary functions specifications by verifying every functional requirement specification and every component specification and by participating to all design reviews
Defines together with the validation team the traction or auxiliary validation strategy
Defines and participates in combined system type test and the commissioning of the train.
Participates in technical meetings with customer in order to provide support to the Sub-System Manager and / or Project Engineering Managers
Analyses technical issues and proposes solutions during the commissioning and the reliability growth phase
Provides Return of Experience to be implemented in Reference Solutions.
Contributes to the RoE committee and documentation updates.
All about you
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent, providing a robust academic foundation for advanced engineering responsibilities.
Analytical, structured, and methodical approach, with the ability to assess complex systems at both architectural and detailed technical levels.
Strong experience in the electrical dimensioning of power electronic systems, ideally gained in roles requiring technical leadership, expert judgment, and adherence to industry standards.
Strong collaboration skills and high standard of professional communication, enabling effective interaction with cross‑functional stakeholders.
You are fluent in English, and proficiency in Swedish is considered an advantage

We are now looking for an experienced electrical design engineer within the traction area to join a global leader in transport technology in Västerås. About the role As a Traction Electrical Design Engineer, you will drive and support technical investigations and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to deliver smart, innovative propulsion products to customers worldwide. You will be responsible for electrical design activities within the traction area, including circuit design, routine test documentation, interface definition, requirement analysis, and harness design. You will also plan and coordinate work related to this area. In this role, you will be part of all phases of the product life cycle – from design and validation to field support once the products are delivered to customers. Key responsibilities Design circuit diagrams and create routine test documentation for our propulsion products. Plan and lead the work of a small project team of engineers both onsite and offsite related to circuit design and routine test documentation. Design Harness Drive and support technical investigations and design activities related to this area. Define electrical interfaces. Collaborate with and support system engineering, manufacturing engineers and test engineers. Analyze customer requirements As part of the development team, perform one or more of the following development activities, design circuit diagrams, create test documentation, support routine test activities, design harnesses, support prototype and pre-series in production. Support product lead with bid support, analyzing requirements from customers or system architects and translate them into requirements related to this area Support other functions, colleagues with reviews. Your background Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar technical field Several years of experience in electrical design, circuit design, or traction/propulsion systems Experience working with technical investigations and requirement analysis Experience planning and leading technical work within a small engineering team or coordinating engineering activities in project environments Ability to collaborate cross-functionally Structured and solution-oriented mindset You have a passion for bringing both people and technical details together Strong communication skills in English. You'll play a key role as Traction Product Lead of our Traction Reference Products within the Product and Bid Engineering function, making a tangible impact on sustainable mobility. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (such as R&D, product management, and tendering teams), ensure alignment with market requirements, managing product definitions and development, among other responsibilities. You’ll specifically take care of defining the Traction Reference Products based on System family and market needs.
