You will be responsible for the day-to-day planning and execution of your research project while contributing to the project's overall objectives. You will work in an interdisciplinary research environment at the interface of laboratory-based experimentation, microbial engineering, plant science, and computational analysis. The project involves a range of techniques, including microbial cultivation, plant assays, molecular biology methods, construction of genetic libraries, yeast genetic engineering, high-throughput screening, and DNA sequencing. Qualifications To be eligible for employment as a researcher, the applicant must have a PhD exam in a relevant subject as outlined in the advertisement. The exam must be finished before closing date for this announcement. Required qualifications for the employment: PhD degree and >2 year postdoc experience in a biotechnological field with a strong background in synthetic biology. Experience with the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae is a must. The candidate should have strong skills in molecular biology, genetic library design and construction (incl. CRISPRa/i), high throughput screening using FACS and data analysis. The candidate should have experience with microbial cultivation in bioreactors, and analytics including HPLC, MS/MS. Desirable qualifications for the employment: Experience in scientific writing, including publications, reports, or grant applications, is also considered an advantage, as is experience working in interdisciplinary and collaborative research environments. As the project spans two universities and brings together multiple disciplines, you enjoy working with people from different backgrounds, building strong relationships, and communicating effectively across teams. About the opportunity Join QIAGEN DNA Synthesis (QDS) in Västerås as a Development Engineer within our Technology Development & Process Excellence (TD/PE) team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge advancements in analytical and preparative liquid chromatography, supporting the development of premium quality oligonucleotides to our customers. Working within a collaborative and multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in developing methods, techniques and processes to ensure an optimised, best in class oligonucleotide production process. A theoretical and practical knowledge of solid-phase oligonucleotide/peptide and/or organic synthesis. Ability to write, review and follow SOPs related to oligonucleotide synthesis, as well as writing and reviewing electronic lab journals. Familiarity of working in regulated environments such as ISO9001, ISO13485 and/or cGMP standards would be advantageous. Experience of working with process development initiatives would be advantageous. An advanced ability to communicate in verbal and written formats in both English and Swedish is essential as the language onsite is Swedish. Department of Aquatic Resources (SLU Aqua) Climate change is impacting aquatic ecosystems worldwide, creating an urgent need for management strategies that strengthen ecological resilience and support sustainable use of aquatic resources. In this two-year postdoctoral project, you will use quantitative  evidence-based syntheses to identify how aquatic management can enhance ecosystem resilience to the impacts of climate change. This position offers opportunities for career development at the interface between ecological research and practical management through scientific publishing, conference participation, and stakeholder engagement.  About the position We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with a strong interest in evidence-based conservation and restoration ecology. The project combines fundamental ecological and evolutionary research with applied management science to address: Which management interventions most effectively increase resilience to climate change in aquatic ecosystems? How do dispersal, ecological interactions and evolutionary adaptation influence the success of climate adaptation measures? How can evidence synthesis be translated into practical decision support for environmental managers? You will apply systematic reviews, meta-analyses and other evidence synthesis methods to answer these questions. The work includes close collaboration with practitioners to ensure scientifically robust and practically relevant guidance for climate adaptation. The project is expected to result in scientific publications while directly informing evidence-based environmental policy and management. We offer a collaborative research environment with strong links between fundamental ecological research and environmental management. The successful candidate will have opportunities to publish in leading international journals, present their work at international conferences, collaborate with practitioners and policy makers to develop an independent research profile. Your profile You must hold a PhD in Biology (ecology/evolution), Environmental science or similar discipline. Systematic reviews, meta-analyses or other relevant evidence-synthesising methods should have formed a central part of your thesis or academic career. Experience of research relevant for environmental management, decision support or governance of aquatic resources, and collaborating with practitioners, especially in coastal and marine areas, is an advantage.
