Subject description Electric Power Engineering covers studies of sustainable systems for production and transpor-tation of electrical energy, and the interaction between power grid, electricity production, and electricity consumption. Project description The project aims to develop models that describe how HVDC installations affect, and are af-fected by, power quality in electrical networks up to 150 kHz. Measurements will be used to further develop existing models and to distinguish between primary and secondary emissions as well as nonlinear interactions. The results will provide the basis for a generalized model of emission and immunity related to HVDC installations.The study will also investigate network resonances, interactions between multiple HVDC in-stallations, and the effects on transformers and other grid-connected equipment. The project is carried out in collaboration between Luleå University of Technology (LTU) and Hitachi Energy. Duties A PhD position involves both theoretical and practical work. As a doctoral student, you will be trained in scientific research through the publication of journal articles and presentations at national and international conferences. You will also complete both mandatory and elective doctoral courses. In addition, you may have the opportunity to gain teaching experience. PROJECT DESCRIPTION The PhD student will focus on the development of structured sorbent systems and additive manufacturing approaches for industrial NOx and SOx capture applications. The work will include formulation of printable sorbent inks and pastes with controlled rheological properties, integration of functional nanoparticles for induction-assisted regeneration, and fabrication of structured adsorbent geometries using advanced manufacturing techniques. The student will investigate how structural design, porosity, and mass-transfer properties influence adsorption performance, pressure drop, thermal management, and cyclic stability under humid process conditions. The project will further involve scale-up, process integration, and evaluation of structured sorbents in pilot-scale systems relevant to acid-plant and greenhouse CHP gas streams. The project is approved for funding in EIC Pathfinder challenges from waste to value creation. TASKS Working as a researcher involves defining your daily tasks and how they will be carried out. The expected outcomes include improved understanding of support performance, development of evaluation methodologies, and optimized support system design tailored to LKAB’s mining conditions. About the Role The Executive Director will provide both strategic and operational leadership for the Center for Art & Innovation and serve as a key bridge between the worlds of art, academia, philanthropy, and innovation. Reporting to the Center’s Scientific Director, the Executive Director will play a central role in translating the Center’s vision into impactful programs, partnerships, and initiatives. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership and Center Development Shape and implement the long-term vision and strategy for the Center for Art & Innovation Translate strategic ambitions into sustainable programs, partnerships, and initiatives. Position the Center as a leading international platform connecting art, research, innovation, and society. Drive the development of organizational structures, processes, and ways of working that support long-term growth and impact. Oversee the delivery of artistic programs, exhibitions, residencies, seminars, performances, and public events. Expand and diversify artistic engagement across disciplines, including visual arts, music, and emerging creative practices. Coordinate the art related educational and research initiatives Coordinate, further develop and integrate the portfolio of educational offering of the arts in the curriculum of SSE’s students and Executive Education. Support coordination across the community of scholars in the School who work at the intersection of the arts and business, and support collaboration with other Schools globally. Fundraising and External Relations Develop and steward relationships with donors, foundations, patrons, and strategic partners. Identify and secure funding opportunities that support the Center’s growth and long-term sustainability. Prepare funding proposals, donor communications, and impact reporting. Serve as an ambassador for the Center and SSE in national and international contexts. Operations, Planning, and Governance Lead the day-to-day operations of the Center. Assume overall responsibility for budgeting, planning, reporting, and resource allocation. Ensure effective coordination across SSE departments, centers, and external collaborators. Establish clear structures for project management, evaluation, and organizational follow-up. Community Building and Outreach Foster engagement across the SSE community, connecting faculty, students, researchers, executive education participants, and external practitioners.
