About the research project This project is a proof-of-concept effort aimed at demonstrating a reliable post-fabrication trimming process for Josephson junctions in superconducting qubits. Unlike open-ended exploratory research, this project is goal-oriented and experimentally driven. It requires both careful physical interpretation and structured technical validation. You will take primary responsibility for planning and executing the experimental program in collaboration with senior researchers. While the role does not include formal personnel management, scientific initiative and independence are highly expected. Key responsibilities include: Designing and executing cryogenic experiments. Characterizing Josephson junctions and superconducting circuits. Analyzing device behavior and degradation mechanisms. Correlating electrical performance with material properties (aging, interfaces, coherence). Contributing to reproducible superconducting qubit fabrication workflows within WACQT. The project is closely connected to ongoing superconducting quantum processor development efforts within WACQT. Who we are looking for The following requirements are mandatory: A PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field. Strong experimental research experience in superconducting devices, quantum devices, low-temperature physics, nanoscience, or related areas. Experience with at least one of the following:programming experience in Python MATLAB or similar tools for data analysis and experiment automation. You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education. The following experiences are considered beneficial, but are not required: Dilution refrigerator operation. Transmon qubit measurements. Microwave control and readout. Quantum coherence measurements. High-throughput SAXS for Lipid Nanoparticle Structure and Function Are you interested in developing next-generation scattering methods for one of the most important challenges in modern therapeutics? We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the CoSAXS beamline at MAX IV and the Edler Group, at Lund University to develop high-throughput SAXS/WAXS approaches for understanding the structure and function of solid lipid nanoparticles. This 36 month position offers the opportunity to work at one of the world’s most advanced synchrotron facilities, within an international and interdisciplinary research environment spanning soft matter physics, structural biology, nanomedicine, and advanced data analysis. The fellowship is funded through the prestigious AMBER Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND programme. The Research Environment The position is hosted jointly by the CoSAXS beamline and the Edler goup at Lund University. The project also involves collaboration with researchers at ESS and ISIS Neutron and Muon Source as part of the ESS First Science initiative “The Lifecycle of a Lipid Nanoparticle.” The Project: High-throughput SAXS for Visualising Solid Lipid Nanoparticles Lipid nanoparticles are rapidly transforming the field of drug delivery, including RNA therapeutics and precision medicine. Despite their importance, many fundamental questions remain about how nanoparticle structure governs encapsulation, stability, transport, and biological performance. This project aims to establish direct links between nanoscale structure and function in lipid nanoparticles using advanced synchrotron SAXS/WAXS methods at MAX IV. Context The Diffraction Group at the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) in Grenoble, in collaboration with the Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC) and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), has an immediate opening for a two-year postdoctoral position funded through the Spanish Scientific Member agreement. The project focuses on emergent phenomena in transition metal oxides exhibiting unconventional frustrated magnetic and quantum phases. The materials under study include non-collinear magnets, such as complex ferrites with chiral states of remarkable stability, and frustrated negative charge-transfer oxides with hidden symmetries. The aim is to advance the design, understanding, and control of emergent states in quantum materials with non-collinear magnetism and symmetry-protected properties of interest for magnetoelectric and spin-lattice-driven applications. The research relies primarily on neutron techniques, with emphasis on single-crystal neutron diffraction and the exploitation of polarized neutrons and polarization analysis. Complementary techniques based on resonant X-ray scattering (RMXS/RIXS) are also of interest. Based at ILL, the position offers the opportunity to interact with a diverse community of scientists across European neutron, synchrotron, and FEL sources, and to carry out research stays of varying duration in the two partner laboratories in Barcelona (ICMAB) and Madrid (UCM). By utilizing antenna mutual coupling for effective amplitude modulation – a shift from the traditional view that considers it detrimental – you will overcome existing limitations in frequency, efficiency, power, and linearity, thereby fostering sustainable digital transformation. Security Requirements This role requires the ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including: Successful completion of the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer, with renewal every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications Technical college degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Mathematics, or a related field. Industry certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft, networking, or other relevant technical certifications. Experience operating equipment used for moving and handling hardware, such as pallet jacks or chassis lifts. Knowledge of workplace safety programmes, procedures, and compliance requirements. Flexibility to work shifts outside standard business hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.
