Looking for a new adventure? You’ve come to the right place.
We're an Amsterdam-based team of 90+ (and counting) with 25+ nationalities amongst us! A varied bunch of “Citizens of The World”
with a wide range of skills and hundreds of thousands of kilometers under our travel belts. And we have something important in
common (other than our very well-worn passports): We want to change the way people travel.
And that's exactly what we're doing, with the travel app to plan, track, and relive trips in a smart and beautiful way.
Polarsteps has over 20 million users already, but, for us, this is just the beginning. We have big plans for the future, and so we
need even more talented and enthusiastic people to help us on our journey.

Polarsteps has over 20 million users already but, for us, this is just the beginning. We have exciting new features on our roadmap
and we need a talented iOS Engineer to help us on our journey.
Want to know more about us? Here you go.
We’re a small team, doing big things.
If you haven't seen our app yet, go ahead and check it out, you'll see that we care (a lot) about providing a seamless,
top-quality user experience for every one of our travellers. And it is this that has got us ratings of 4.8* and 4.7* on the app
stores (where we’ve been featured multiple times). But it doesn’t stop there, not only did Google create this awesome video about
us but we’ve been mentioned in two of Apple’s WWDC keynote speeches. And we're one of the top 26 apps for 2026 according to Apple!
We’ve got an impressive past but we’re even more excited for the future, and the impact you can make from day one is huge, with
everything you ship affecting millions of users.
Even with that in mind, we believe in truly giving our team members the freedom they need to craft to perfection while encouraging
a practical mindset to avoid under or over-engineering mishaps.
We are seeing an enthusiastic and accelerated growth of the travel industry, and with that comes both opportunities and growing
pains (especially in the complex, multi-layered travel domain). So, if on top of the challenges inherent to feature development,
you enjoy thinking about the performance and scalability aspects of a platform, you're in for a lot of fun with us.

Our developers build the systems our customers use to shop for groceries — as well as the software that runs our warehouses, supports last-mile, and helps our purchasing and commerce teams operate effectively. WHAT YOU'LL DO We build software in a lean and pragmatic way, and care about choosing the right abstractions for our domain and continuously balance delivery speed against long-term complexity. Our stack includes Typescript, React Native, modern PHP and PostgreSQL. We prefer to work with people who have seen—or want to learn—different technologies, as we consider our tools a means to an end. You will: * Work with a small team of product owners and product designers to implement new app features. * Help validate features work as intended, from analysing technical telemetry to joining customer interviews. * Code across our stack — frontend and backend. * Ship often and take responsibility for your code “in the field”. We invest heavily in automated testing and code readability. Refactoring is part of the job. Abstractions are revisited when the business changes. We use LLMs as productivity tools where appropriate, but every line of code shipped to production is understood and owned by the developer who commits it. WHAT YOU BRING You likely: * Have several years of experience with developing for mobile. * Have real experience with a general-purpose language (Python, JavaScript, PHP, Go, ...). * Care about code quality and long-term maintainability. * Enjoy working directly with product designers and our customers. * Are comfortable taking responsibility for production systems. Bonus points for: * Experience with React Native. * Experience chasing and solving delicate performance issues on Android or iOS. * Experience operating systems serving a large user base. Don’t worry if you don’t match every point above. We hire for long-term potential, curiosity and the ability to learn quickly. A minimum of B2 level Dutch working proficiency and a full-time availability of 36-40 hours per week are required. WHAT WE OFFER * The chance to leave your mark on our food system and have real impact with your commitment and experience. * Working with the best: a high-profile team experienced in building and scaling ventures from the ground up, with diverse backgrounds. * The ability for you to learn quickly from others on the team. * A team culture based on modesty, openness and excellence. * Plenty of opportunity to take responsibility from day one. * The opportunity to shape the culture of a well established company in a new, vibrant location. * A competitive salary and equity/stock. * Regular hackweeks to work on anything you find worthwhile. * Time to get to know your colleagues during sports, events and tastings. INTERESTED? We would love to hear from you! Our process starts with a technical assignment, followed up by an on-site interview in Amsterdam.
