As a Hardware Engineer at SumUp, you’ll play a key role in the early-stage development of our physical products. Working within
the Hardware Tribe, you’ll be responsible for translating product specifications into efficient, scalable electrical designs. In
your daily work, you will design, review schematics and debug existing implementations. You will collaborate with mechanical
engineers and other stakeholders to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery. Your expertise will help accelerate
product development and reduce risks in our growing portfolio.
The role is based on-site in our office in Berlin. We believe in the power of face-to-face conversations that happen organically
when working next to one another.

What you'll do In this role, you will design and develop electronic hardware for both new and existing products, ensuring robust, reliable, and cost-efficient solutions. You will work with schematic design, PCB layout, component selection, and validation, as well as testing and troubleshooting hardware-related issues. You will be involved throughout the entire product lifecycle, from development and release to maintenance and continuous improvement. Together with colleagues from software, mechanics, and product management, you will work cross-functionally in agile teams. You will participate in design reviews, contribute to technical decisions, and collaborate with internal stakeholders as well as external suppliers and manufacturing partners. You will also ensure that designs are well documented and meet quality, performance, and EMC requirements. Our clients are involved in exciting development work within research, space, defense, marine, automation, and more – and they are growing rapidly. We are seeking individuals who want to work on the development of systems and products within the electronics segment, where you will have the opportunity to contribute to a safer and more high-tech future. In these projects, you may work on everything from feasibility studies and concept development to testing and installation of finished products. This can include requirements management, systemization, design, development of various power distribution solutions, verification, and troubleshooting. In some cases, work with cabling, procurement, and project management may also be included.
