JOIN US AS A SENIOR BACKEND ENGINEER (ALL GENDERS) - VEHICLE FOUNDATION IN OUR VEHICLE FOUNDATION TEAM ON A SHARED JOURNEY THAT MATTERS!  To make the vision of an autonomously driving mobility service a reality the teams in our Vehicle Integration domain develop the applications and tools needed to enable autonomous passenger management within our MOIA vehicles in a world without a driver: How do passengers authenticate themselves in an autonomous vehicle? How do we ensure a safe cabin during boarding and the ride? Which content should be displayed on the vehicle screens to provide a safe and informative user experience for the passenger?    The Vehicle Foundation team boosts the vehicle feature development process for the feature teams working in our domain by providing foundational features. We develop modern automated solutions for hardware and software platforms by covering tooling, observability, security, and provisioning. Additionally, we keep and maintain stable in-vehicle features and connectivity suited to the ridepooling experience for passengers and the fleet of the existing MOIA system.   The team has the necessary roles to take full responsibility for the given value streams: from backend and embedded developers to quality specialists, cyber security experts and product owners. Join the team if you want to solve these challenges in an agile and customer-driven environment.   WHAT YOU WILL DO * Design and operate cloud-native infrastructure. * Research and develop passenger management systems for an autonomous mobility service.  * Bridge the data flow of the AWS-based backend infrastructure and the in-vehicle components using AWS IoT services (e.g., telemetry data, camera stream, metrics, authentication, logs).  * Improve the CICD infrastructure responsible for building and distributing our embedded software releases.  * Integrate AI coding assistants in the development process.  * Work in a bottom-up managed, autonomous, cross-functional team together with other talented engineers.   * Participate in the full development life cycle, from design to implementation, quality assurance and maintenance.   WHAT WILL HELP YOU TO FULFILL YOUR ROLE  * Proficiency in Golang, and an interest in touching other languages such as Typescript, Python.  * Experience with AWS IoT and serverless technologies such as Lambda, DynamoDB, and SQS.  * Experience with Infrastructure as Code, e.g.: CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation, etc. * Experience with CICD tools such as Github Actions, AWS CodeBuild, or Jenkins.  * Familiarity with container solutions such as Docker and communication protocols used to connect edge devices, such as MQTT.  * Interest in DevOps tools such as Ansible and Kubernetes.  * General understanding of the Linux platform and general interest in embedded development (in C++).  * Nice to have: Experience with ROS2. * Knowledge of current trends in software design, event-driven architecture, DevOps, AI assisted development and a strong interest in further development * Interest in applying agile development practices and a proactive, flexible, and hands-on mindset.  * Strong collaboration skills throughout code reviews, pair programming, providing constructive feedback, and team communication.  We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds — even if you don’t meet every requirement. You will act as a force multiplier for our entire engineering department. By designing highly scalable, secure, and performant internal APIs and services, you will enable other product teams to build fast and deliver value to our users. WHAT YOU WILL DO * Own Core System Services: Architect, develop, and maintain high-throughput, application-level foundational services, focusing initially on identity/authentication and our core search backend service. * Drive Technical Evolution: Design and implement future shared services that support our vision for scaling the platform. * Enable Engineering Teams: Build clean, robust, and well-documented internal APIs and developer tools that empower other product teams to build features rapidly and securely. * Write Exceptional Code: Deliver highly testable, maintainable, and secure Golang code, taking full operational ownership of the components your team develops. * Foster Best Practices: Actively participate in the Urban Sports Club backend cluster, championing strong system design, modularized architecture, and automated testing across the company. * Collaborate Across Boundaries: Work closely with product owners, tech leads, and other engineering teams to understand their requirements and translate them into scalable, domain-agnostic solutions. WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED * You have extensive industry experience as a Senior Backend Engineer developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting large-scale applications written in Go (6+ years) * You have a solid understanding of (or direct experience with) core foundational services like Identity/Authentication protocols (e.g., Keycloak, OAuth2, OIDC) and search engines. * You possess a deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed system design. You know how to build modular, high-volume services that remain performant under heavy traffic. * You have a track record of designing clean, secure, and developer-friendly internal APIs that scale across multiple engineering teams. * You are comfortable working within cloud ecosystems (GCP/AWS) from an application perspective, understanding how to leverage cloud-managed services efficiently. * You break down complex, abstract problems into elegant software solutions. You communicate effectively with technical stakeholders and love mentoring others. * Experience with PHP is a nice-to-have.
