Crew Chief/Party Chief

Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run. You will assist the Chief of Engineering on the Nyx project by providing your technical expertise in space projects. You will support the Nyx Engineers in the design, qualification, and certification by participating in reviews and dedicated task forces. You will be instrumental in enabling new missions in the US by managing projects including early vehicle and subsystems development. You will support our US Sales and Government relations efforts by developing and maintaining relationships with customer organizations and by supporting the development of US government and commercial proposals. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Lead assigned System and Subsystem Projects including the management of cost, schedule, technical quality and risk * Support Business Development and Sales efforts with local and state-wide government and commercial customers. Build and maintain relationships with government agencies and commercial partners. * Support development of US government and commercial proposals, including the integration of cost, schedule and risk elements into cohesive bids. * Support the engineering team in design, development, and certification activities, and assist in the execution of the verification tasks in cooperation with customers such as NASA. WHAT WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE FROM YOU Required: * Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, systems, electrical engineering or related technical field. * 10+ years of experience in space systems project management, systems engineering, or space systems development. * Broad knowledge across spacecraft sub-systems, re-entry technologies, and/or crew systems. * Experience across the space systems lifecycle including requirements definition, design, assembly, integration, test, and operations. * Experience with ISS resupply, LEO station logistics, or exploration programs. * Knowledge and experience with US contracting processes, including NASA and commercial space procurement. * Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary international teams. Desirable: * Familiarity with U.S. aerospace regulations, FAA licensing, and export control (ITAR/EAR). * Previous experience working in a startup or fast-growing aerospace company. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Start your day in a company-provided truck, heading to project sites that make a visible impact. * Lead boundary, topographic, construction layout, and as-built surveys for land development projects. * Operate Trimble total stations, GPS, and data collectors to capture high-quality, reliable data. * Double-check field calculations to ensure accuracy and consistency. * Establish and locate vertical and horizontal control points with precision. * Record detailed field notes and prepare accurate as-built documentation. * Maintain your assigned equipment and vehicle with professionalism and pride. * Work independently or guide a team member through the day’s layout and setup. * Solve on-site challenges, interpret plans, and communicate clearly with contractors and engineers. * Follow Atwell’s safety protocols and quality standards on every job. * Take part in paid training, leadership development, and structured career pathing programs to advance your skills.   WHAT YOU BRING * Experience as a Survey Crew Chief. * Proven expertise in performing construction staking, ALTA/NSPS Land Title, topographic, boundary, and as-built surveys. * Trimble equipment experience preferred. * Strong communication skills with contractors, inspectors, and team leaders. * A proactive approach to solving problems and getting work done right. * Willingness to travel overnight occasionally (preferred).   WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT HERE Atwell gives you more than a job, it gives you a career with direction.
