Atwell, LLC is a proud recipient of the following 2025 awards: * Ten consecutive years in a row as a “Best Place to Work” by Zweig Group (#11) * Recognized as #70 in the ENR Top 500 Design Firms, ranked in every region * Recognized in Crain's “Fast 50” as one of the fastest-growing companies (#14) * Recognized as the 2025 ENR Design Firm of the year for the Southeastern US Job Description The Assistant Crew Chief is a developmental position that assists the survey Crew Chief by conducting field activities under direct supervision. * Operates and maintains a variety of survey equipment safely and efficiently. * Stock and help maintain a clean vehicle. * Assist in prompt start to survey activities at project site by assembling and setting up necessary equipment. * Perform survey activities such as: leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, construction layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, profile, and cross section surveys. * Record field notes legibly and accurately while following the Atwell established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Qualifications * A High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required. * A valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle is required. * Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a Survey Field Technician * Basic plan and map reading (i.e., construction/engineering plans, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, plats, etc.) * Typical survey equipment including robotic total stations, GPS systems, data collectors, UAV’s, etc. Experience with Trimble brand preferred. * Proficiency in conducting UAV surveys and processing point cloud data is preferred. Knowledge of drones such as the DJI Matrice 350 RTI, Phantom 4 RTI and Wingra with LiDAR and photogrammetry payloads is desirable. Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run. You will assist the Chief of Engineering on the Nyx project by providing your technical expertise in space projects. You will support the Nyx Engineers in the design, qualification, and certification by participating in reviews and dedicated task forces. You will be instrumental in enabling new missions in the US by managing projects including early vehicle and subsystems development. You will support our US Sales and Government relations efforts by developing and maintaining relationships with customer organizations and by supporting the development of US government and commercial proposals. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Lead assigned System and Subsystem Projects including the management of cost, schedule, technical quality and risk * Support Business Development and Sales efforts with local and state-wide government and commercial customers. Build and maintain relationships with government agencies and commercial partners. * Support development of US government and commercial proposals, including the integration of cost, schedule and risk elements into cohesive bids. * Support the engineering team in design, development, and certification activities, and assist in the execution of the verification tasks in cooperation with customers such as NASA. WHAT WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE FROM YOU Required: * Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, systems, electrical engineering or related technical field. * 10+ years of experience in space systems project management, systems engineering, or space systems development. * Broad knowledge across spacecraft sub-systems, re-entry technologies, and/or crew systems. * Experience across the space systems lifecycle including requirements definition, design, assembly, integration, test, and operations. * Experience with ISS resupply, LEO station logistics, or exploration programs. * Knowledge and experience with US contracting processes, including NASA and commercial space procurement. * Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary international teams. Desirable: * Familiarity with U.S. aerospace regulations, FAA licensing, and export control (ITAR/EAR). * Previous experience working in a startup or fast-growing aerospace company. WHAT YOU BRING * Experience as a Survey Crew Chief. * Proven expertise in performing construction staking, ALTA/NSPS Land Title, topographic, boundary, and as-built surveys. * Trimble equipment experience preferred. * Strong communication skills with contractors, inspectors, and team leaders. * A proactive approach to solving problems and getting work done right. * Willingness to travel overnight occasionally (preferred).
