electronic control units of our electric propulsion system, with a primary focus on the Battery Management System (BMS).
You will lead the development and management of HiL and Power HiL test rigs at our test facilities while executing critical test

YOUR MISSION Be part of aviation history at VÆRIDION, where we’re pioneering the world’s first electric nine-seater aircraft! As a (Senior) Manufacturing Engineer (all genders), you'll play a pivotal role in the development, optimization and scaling of various manufacturing processes, workflows, and the tooling required for the successful production of our high-voltage aircraft battery propulsion system. You’ll work closely alongside cross-functional teams, including design, testing, and operations, to ensure that the manufacturing of our battery module/pack is safe, efficient, and compliant with aerospace standards. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY * Manufacturing Process Development: * Design, optimize and validate manufacturing processes for battery module and pack assembly. * Collaborate with design to ensure manufacturability, scalability and robustness of the product. * Ensure process compliance to aerospace manufacturing and quality standards whilst adhering to local safety regulations. * Create and maintain relevant documentation including process description documents, work instructions/operating procedures and training materials for the team. * Manufacturing Capability Development: * Specify and lead the implementation of specialised production equipment, including automation systems. * Develop and maintain workstations, and tooling to support safe and efficient operations. * Ensure that all equipment and the facility infrastructure is functional, compliant, and ready for production. * Support the gradual transition from manual assembly to semi- and fully automated production lines. * Plan facility upgrades with a focus on layout, workflow optimization, scalability, equipment integration while adhering to safety regulations. * Support and Best Practices: * Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for process-related issues. * Drive continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. * Handle ad-hoc engineering projects with flexibility and a problem-solving mindset. * Promote and uphold a culture of safety acrossall teams. YOUR PROFILE * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. * Proven experience in Manufacturing Engineering, preferably in battery systems or aerospace components. * Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, process validation, and equipment integration. * Ability to work hands-on in a dynamic production environment. * Familiarity with high-voltage systems, thermal management, and battery safety protocols. * Experience with CAD tools and manufacturing documentation systems. * Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and quality control systems. * Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, organize, and execute multiple projects simultaneously within defined timelines. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective. collaboration with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, equipment vendors, and contractors. * A driven, proactive individual who thrives on challenging assumptions. * Goal-oriented and innovative, with a deep passion for advancing technology. * Fluent in English, German Skills are a Plus. YOUR MISSION You will bridge the gap between software development and hardware integration, designing robust test suites that push our firmware to its limits. You thrive in the lab and enjoy "breaking" things to make them better, and you have a deep understanding of how software interacts with physical circuitry. RESPONSIBILITIES * Test Strategy & Design: Develop comprehensive test plans, cases, and procedures based on functional requirements and design specifications. * Automated Testing: Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts (robotframework/Python). * Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL): Configure and operate HIL, SIL, and MIL simulation environments to validate software behavior in real-world scenarios. * Debugging & Analysis: Utilize oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers (CAN, SPI, I2C) to troubleshoot complex hardware/software interactions. * Defect Management: Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate closely with firmware developers to verify fixes and perform regression testing. * Compliance: Ensure testing processes meet industry-specific standards (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 62304, or DO-178C) where applicable. QUALIFICATIONS * Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. * Experience: 5+ years of experience in embedded software testing or development. * Technical Proficiency: * Strong programming skills in scripting languages like Python. * Experience with embedded RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, Zephyr) or bare-metal environments. * Familiarity with communication protocols: UART, SPI, I2C and CAN. * Tools: Experience with Git, Jira, and lab equipment (Multimeters, Power Supplies, Debuggers like J-Link). Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run. ABOUT THE ROLE We are developing the avionics system of a rocket engine powered by electric pumps. The team is responsible for the design, integration, testing, and qualification of the engine electronics and embedded software. We are looking for an Senior Electronics Hardware Test & Qualification Engineer to help structure, execute, and industrialize our electronics test activities. This role is intended for someone who is both rigorous in test definition and reporting, and hands-on in the lab. The objective is to help mature our electronics hardware from prototype bring-up to qualified and deliverable units by defining test strategies, preparing test campaigns, building test means, executing tests, analyzing results, and producing clear verification evidence. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS We are looking for someone who enjoys the interface between engineering design and real hardware testing. The ideal candidate is rigorous enough to define proper test strategies and qualification evidence, but practical enough to build a test adapter, debug a signal on an oscilloscope, and improve a lab setup. This person should be comfortable working in a fast-moving development environment where hardware is still evolving, tests need to be structured, and technical issues must be solved pragmatically. The role requires both engineering discipline and hands-on ownership. * Define, structure, and maintain electronics test strategies for ECU, inverter electronics, and future control boards, from development testing to qualification and acceptance. * Translate requirements into test cases, procedures, acceptance criteria, and verification evidence, ensuring clear requirements-to-test traceability. * Prepare, organize, and execute electronics test campaigns, including board bring-up, functional testing, hardware/software integration, inverter testing, and power HIL. * Design, build, and maintain hands-on test means such as test boards, breakout boards, harnesses, adapters, loads, and instrumentation setups. * Analyze test results, write clear test reports, document deviations, and support qualification or delivery reviews. * Support hardware debugging and anomaly investigations using schematics, measurements, logs, and lab instrumentation. * Improve test bench robustness, repeatability, safety, configuration control, and automation. * Work closely with electronics, power electronics, embedded software, control, mechanical/thermal, supplier, and test teams to ensure avionics hardware is testable, integrated, and deliverable. WHAT WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE FROM YOU * Hands-on experience in electronics hardware testing, board bring-up, debugging, validation, or qualification. * Ability to read schematics, PCB documentation, datasheets, interface specifications, and requirements. * Experience preparing test plans, test procedures, acceptance criteria, and test reports. * Practical experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, DAQs, multimeters, logic analyzers, CAN tools, or power analyzers. * Ability to design or assemble simple test boards, harnesses, breakout boards, adapters, or custom lab setups. * Good understanding of embedded electronics interfaces such as CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, PWM, ADC/DAC, discrete I/O, and power interfaces. * Experience with test automation using Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar tools would be a strong plus. * Experience with aerospace, automotive, defense, rail, robotics, energy, or another safety-critical hardware environment would be highly appreciated.
