Design is one of our core competencies (we teach every employee design thinking principles during their first week) and as a Product Designer on the team, you’ll lead the way.
As a Designer, you will leverage your experience to tackle design challenges across the board. Understanding our users is core to our process, and we prioritize user testing and feedback with customers throughout the design process. We’re looking for a designer who cares about solving problems for users in close partnership with our engineering team.
Our Design team is a small, but mighty, group of generalists who have a breadth of skill sets and experiences to learn from. The team is exceptionally collaborative, thoughtful, and passionate about user-centered design. You’ll work with this team to design based on principles and insights, joining our mission to help the world hire with conviction and connect talent to meaningful work.
WE'RE LOOKING FOR CONCEPTUAL THINKING, ART DIRECTION AND CRAFT We're looking for a Designer who is driven by creative excellence and brings knowledge and expertise across all phases of the design process. As part of our creative team, you will play an integral role in the hands-on creation of outstanding creative work, while helping to inform and define the creative direction of projects through a thoughtful and considered approach. You will bring a broader professional skill set beyond graphic design, with experience across digital design, art direction, and strategic thinking. You should have strong conceptual, creative, and communication skills, along with a passion for craft and a keen eye for detail. RESPONSIBILITIES — Working closely with Senior designers and the strategic lead to create compelling and inspiring creative possibilities. — Input and inform the strategic approach, utilising cultural insight from within and outside of the category, inspiring senior members of the team. — Be able to think holistically about the creative solutions, not just the visual outcome and have strong communicative skills in portraying this thought process to the rest of the team. — Use experience and passion to demonstrate intelligent, thought-provoking and innovative creative solutions, establishing a strong conceptual and creative point of view. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE — Respond quickly and accurately to client feedback, demonstrating professionalism and understanding to exceed client expectations. — Cultivate partnerships with Project Managers to unite teams and ensure transparency during the design process. — Show experience with confidently and competently supporting in client presentations, ensuring they are delivered in an engaging and eloquent manner. — Ability to articulate your point of view clearly, both verbally and through written and creative methods. — Bring insight, opinions and a broad cultural perspective along with a deep understanding of the design landscape and process, in order to positively affect the creative outcome. — The ability to multitask across multiple workstreams is key. About Modo Energy The energy transition is the biggest infrastructure buildout in human history. Modo Energy is the data platform at the centre of it. We build the benchmarking, forecasting, and valuation tools that the world's most serious energy investors, developers, and operators depend on to make decisions. If a battery gets financed, built, or traded anywhere in the world, there's a good chance Modo data was in the room. Founded in 2019, we're 80+ people across London, New York, Sydney, and Madrid; $30M Series B, AI-native, and moving fast. This is a rare chance to join a category-defining company at the moment it's scaling globally. At Modo Energy, we're building the global standard for benchmarking and valuing the world's electrification assets: batteries, solar, wind, and data centres. Our mission is to make the energy transition understandable, and we believe great design is core to that mission. We want complex information to feel simple, elegant, and a joy to use. The Role We're looking for a Designer to join our London team and work across both marketing and product design. This is a generalist role; one week you might be designing a landing page, the next you're designing UI for The Modo Energy Terminal platform or creating assets for a conference stand. We move fast and have strong product opinions; what we need is someone who can bring those to life beautifully, and over time help us raise the bar on craft and design thinking across the company. You'll sit within the Product Operations team as an early designer hire, with direct cross-functional touch points across product and engineering. This is an entry to mid-level role with real room to grow: Modo is still early and the design function is being built, which means your work will have outsized impact from day one. What we're looking for * A portfolio that demonstrates exceptional visual taste: clean layout, typography, composition, and modern interface design * Strong Figma skills * Comfortable working across both marketing and product design * Fast, autonomous, and able to context-switch between different types of work * A genuine eye for detail and a high personal bar for quality * Enthusiasm for learning about energy and the world of BESS, solar, and wind - no prior knowledge needed Nice to have * Experience designing data-rich interfaces or dashboards * Motion design or micro-interaction experience Important Details * The salary for the role is ~£45k, subject to experience. * We're an in-person company. Everyone works in the office Tuesday–Thursday, with flexibility on Mondays and Fridays. * We move fast and expect a lot - but we're building something genuinely important and the work shows it. Modo Energy is an equal opportunity employer. Contact careers@modoenergy.com if you need any accommodations during the application process. What You Can Expect From Us At Modo Energy, we believe that exceptional work deserves exceptional reward. We're a high-performance team; ambitious, collaborative, and genuinely motivated by the scale of what we're trying to build. You'll have real ownership from day one, work alongside some of the brightest people in the industry, and be part of a company that's defining a new category in the global energy market. We're hybrid: everyone works Tuesday to Thursday in office, with Monday and Friday flexible. We offer top-of-market compensation, equity for every employee, and the space to take your career wherever you want it to go. We're looking for people who want to do the best work of their careers. If that's you, we want to talk.
