As one of our new Mechanical Design Engineers, you will focus on the mechanical development of Alfdex' electric drive units - an

About the position as Mechanical Design Engineer As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work in a broad, hands-on role within product development, taking responsibility for the full lifecycle from early concept and design to final production release. The focus is on developing mechanical solutions for robotics and load handling systems, with a strong emphasis on new product development (R&D). The role involves CAD modelling, detailed design, drawings, and dimensioning, as well as ensuring manufacturability through close collaboration with suppliers and customers. You will translate customer requirements into technical design solutions and develop mechanical systems such as load carriers, robotic interfaces, and motion or locking mechanisms. You will be based at FlexQube’s headquarters in Mölndal and work closely with other mechanical engineers, as well as team members with expertise in hardware, software, electrical systems, and applications. The working approach is characterized by fast decision-making, practical hands-on work, and a strong technical presence. Your main responsibilities: Take ownership of the full mechanical design lifecycle, from early concept development to final production release, with a strong focus on R&D for robotics and load handling systems. Develop CAD models, detailed designs, drawings, and dimensioning, while ensuring manufacturability through close collaboration with suppliers and customers. Translate customer requirements into robust mechanical design solutions. Be part of a project development team where you own your tasks, collaborate closely with colleagues, and are exposed early to customers and real-world applications. About you You have in hands-on product design and/or mechanical construction with a strong focus on metal structures. A post-secondary education in mechanical engineering, product design, or a related field is meritorious. You possess a solid understanding of how mechanical systems function, and have strong CAD skills, where experience in Autodesk Inventor is considered an advantage. The role requires fluency in English, while proficiency in Swedish is considered an advantage. Experience or knowledge in areas such as FEM, 3D printing, Jira, electronics, and plastics/composites is beneficial, as is experience in robotics or AGV/AMR systems. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and developing mechanical solutions for HVDC power plants. What you’ll bring to the role * Solid experience in mechanical design or relevant technical fields, such as product development and mechanical engineering. * B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Design & Product Development, or equivalent. * Experience working with 3D tools for designing mechanical components in a 3D environment; SolidWorks proficiency is advantageous. * Experience in consumer products involving electronics and embedded software. * Experience in testing, reliability, and qualification of systems, either in-house or on the partner side. * Proven track record in transitioning designs into mass production, ensuring rigorous quality control and reliability standards. * Experience working in the conceptual phase, physical prototyping, hands-on testing, and sustainability. * Experience working closely with industrial designers. * Proficiency with tools such as PowerPoint or Adobe and the ability to present ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences. * An open mindset and a passion for working in a start-up environment with a strong ambition to scale quickly.
