Fonoa is the Tax Operating System for autonomous tax. AI that tracks every rule, acts on every obligation, and proves every decision, built on modular infrastructure. Fonoa’s modules cover the full indirect tax lifecycle: tax ID validation, real-time tax determination, e-invoicing, and returns. All on one shared data model and integration, with one audit trail. Each added capability makes the others stronger. Agents monitor obligations, populate returns, catch anomalies and assemble audit packs in seconds. The system does the work. Humans make the calls. That’s autonomous tax. We operate across 120+ countries, with clients going live in weeks, if not days. Trusted by Canva, Netflix, Spotify, Uber, Zoom and Booking.com. Rated 4.5/5 stars and a High Performer on G2 and 4.6/5 stars on Gartner Peer Insights. Find out more: www.fonoa.com ABOUT ENGINEERING AT FONOA Engineering is central to how we build the business. We focus on solving real customer problems, not just shipping features. We work in small, high-trust teams, with full ownership across the lifecycle, from design to production and beyond. We value: * Ownership – engineers own what they build end-to-end * Simplicity – we break down complex problems into clear solutions * Thinking Big - we innovate with modern technologies (LLMs, AI Agents, etc.) to solve meaningful problems * Quality – scalable, maintainable systems are non-negotiable * Speed & iteration – we ship fast, learn, and improve continuously * Collaboration – we win as a team, not as individuals POSITION OVERVIEW As Fonoa continues to evolve beyond APIs into a broader platform experience, we are looking for a Frontend Engineer to help redefine how our products are designed, built, and experienced across the company. This role goes far beyond implementing interfaces. You will play a foundational role in shaping the future of the Fonoa platform — from customer-facing products and internal tooling to the overall design system, interaction patterns, and frontend architecture that ties everything together. We are looking for someone who cares deeply about product experience, systems thinking, and frontend craftsmanship. Someone who can work closely with product, engineering, and design to build products that feel fast, intuitive, and thoughtfully designed, while also helping define how frontend engineering operates and scales at Fonoa. As our platform evolves toward more intelligent, agent-driven workflows, the frontend becomes a critical part of the experience. We want to move beyond traditional dashboards and workflows toward interfaces that feel more dynamic, contextual, and assistant-like, helping customers navigate complex compliance and tax operations in a much more seamless way. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys shaping products from first principles, and wants to have a meaningful impact on both the user experience and the engineering culture around frontend development. We are not looking for someone to simply “build screens.” We are looking for someone who can help define: * How products should feel * How frontend systems should scale * How users interact with increasingly intelligent workflows * And how design and engineering work together to create exceptional products WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING * Redesign and evolve product experiences across customer-facing and internal platforms * Help define and scale our frontend architecture, patterns, and design systems * Build fast, reliable, and intuitive user experiences across web applications * Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering to shape new workflows and features * Contribute to the visual identity and frontend standards of the platform * Help evolve Fonoa from an API-first company into a broader platform experience * Build interfaces that support intelligent, assistant-like, and agent-driven workflows * Continuously improve frontend quality, performance, maintainability, and developer experience * Mentor and influence frontend standards and practices across the engineering organisation WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR * Strong experience building high-quality frontend applications and product experiences * Deep understanding of frontend architecture, state management, performance, and scalability * Strong product and design instincts, with attention to detail and usability * Ability to collaborate closely with designers and product teams from concept to production * Experience designing and evolving frontend systems and reusable component libraries * Builder mentality with high ownership and strong product thinking * Comfortable operating in ambiguity and shaping problems, not just implementing requirements * Strong communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional environments * Curiosity around AI-driven interfaces and how intelligent workflows change product experiences API DOCUMENTATION For engineers, API design and structure are an important part of evaluating a role. You can explore our API and how we build products here: https://docs.fonoa.com/ TECH STACK We use these technologies today, but we don’t hire for specific tools. We care about engineers who can understand problems, make good technical decisions, and choose the right tools for the job. * Backend: Node.js, Go * Frontend: React, TypeScript * Infrastructure: GCP, k8s, Terraform, Postgres Note: If you don’t think you have the full experience we’re looking for, but you could be a fit and are willing to learn, do apply anyway! We are building a diverse and inclusive team. As part of the recruitment process at Fonoa, we process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Notice for Job Applicants. This notice explains how and why your data is collected and used, and how you can contact us if you have any concerns.
Coding was first. Recruiting is next — and we're building it. We are an applied AI lab building end-to-end recruiting agents that feel like coworkers. Metaview helps organizations hire with radically more speed and precision. We automate toil and augment humans for teams like Brex, Affirm, Deel, ElevenLabs, and Airtable. Founded by Siadhal Magos and Shahriar Tajbakhsh, who scaled Uber and Palantir, we have raised over $50M from top-tier investors. We are growing 5x year over year, our customers are raving fans of the product, and our story has been covered in Fortune, Forbes, TechCrunch, and The Times. Now is the time to re-engineer how work gets done with AI at the core, and our toughest challenges still lie ahead. We are looking for people seeking the hardest, most fulfilling work of their lives. We have one value: velocity. Not motion for its own sake, but real progress. We ship every day, ship on Fridays, and skip the tickets, roadmaps, and design-doc theater. We barely write code by hand anymore: every engineer orchestrates a stack of agents, and we ship 8x what we did a year ago with the same small team. Process stays light, standards stay high, and feedback loops stay short. What you'll build Day to day, you'll work on: * new product experiences across the hiring workflow * systems that turn conversational signal into structured actions and insights * AI-assisted features that need to feel useful, transparent, and well-integrated into the product * improvements to quality, speed, and reliability across both user-facing and agent-facing parts of the product * product problems that cut across engineering, design, product, and go-to-market context What you'll own In your first 3-6 months, you should: * own and ship meaningful product areas from problem definition through rollout * help shape how Metaview's AI products behave in real customer workflows * identify and drive improvements that make the product faster, clearer, and more valuable * contribute to the engineering bar across craft, execution, and product judgment What we're after We're hiring across all levels, but we are excited by people who: * have shipped product in fast-moving software environments * are comfortable working across the stack, or moving outside their default lane when needed * care deeply about users and can translate messy problems into clear product decisions * combine technical strength with product sense and good judgment * like ownership, ambiguity, and close collaboration across functions * want to help build a category-defining product while the shape of the company is still being formed What you bring Helpful signals include experience with: * shipping products, workflow software, or AI-enabled products * systems where frontend and backend decisions meaningfully shape each other * building products used in consequential or trust-sensitive moments * startup or scale-up environments where iteration speed and ownership are both high What you want to know * A small, sharp, in-person team in London. Best ideas win on merit, not ceremony. Want to know what it's actually like? Read our unfiltered Slack at metaview.ai/careers#slackbook. * We pay in the top 10% of the market — salary and meaningful equity. Our process is fast and direct. It's not unusual to hear back the same day. * We operate with a simplified leveling, early-career, mid-career, and staff and above. Your level sets your comp. No back-and-forth, no games. We track the market closely and adjust when it tells us to. Market refreshers, twice a year. We re-benchmark against the market two times a year and move comp up when it drifts — so "top 10%" stays true, not just true on your start date. * Promotions and raises on a real cycle. We review level and scope roughly every six months. When your responsibilities grow, your comp follows. It's tied to a real change in the work rather than an automatic bump. * Equity that's genuinely competitive. World-class equity option grants so we’re all owners. We keep the structure simple: cash and equity. * Visa sponsorship and immigration support. We sponsor work visas and handle the process with you, start to finish. * Time off, unlimited. You should feel empowered to take as much time off as you need.
