THE ROLE: Broadcast Engineer - Live Video Augmentation and Distribution
Genius Sports is seeking a broadcast engineer to help scale and support the operation and delivery of our cutting-edge live
broadcast augmentation products across major sports leagues and global media organizations. This role requires an understanding of
live sports broadcasting, the ability to collaboratively define, develop and improve system monitoring, recoverability and
automation, alongside the willingness to work flexible hours to support live sports events.
You will be working alongside our video augmentation, video transcoder and content teams, in delivering sports augmented live
sports broadcasts.
The ideal candidate has worked in broadcasting or in a technical support role, has linux experience and can script in Python or
Javascript. There is an expectation that the candidate will grow their knowledge around video protocols alongside their
development skills.
This role is ideal for someone who has a technical support background and burgeoning development skills and is interested in
building out their development and automation skills required for a devops or development role in the future. Technical expertise,
strong live sports production experience, and the ability to guide junior staff while collaborating closely with engineering and
client teams. The role is a hybrid between site reliability engineering, broadcast engineering and product operations.

Learn more at geniussports.com The Role - Senior Software Engineer (Broadcast Augmentation) You’ll work at the intersection of real-time broadcast augmentation and video distribution, building systems that enhance how live sports are experienced and delivered. In this role, you’ll develop real-time augmentation and video processing pipelines used in sports broadcast workflows. You’ll help shape low-latency, curated viewing experiences powered by intelligent content selection and rich data derived from optical and on-field sensor tracking. We believe live and post-game sports distribution is evolving rapidly, and this role plays a key part in defining what that experience becomes. What you will use day to day You’ll primarily work with Rust, alongside substantial use of C++ and Lua in specific parts of the stack. You’ll also contribute to broadcast augmentation features and the development tools used by our content team. Over time, there will be opportunities to expand your impact into our video processing pipeline and our content and augmentation engines. What you will use day to day You should expect to work in JavaScript and Rust almost every day, with some tasks needing other languages. The balance shifts by task (browser and player code, transcoder and augmentation-related tooling, API). You will predominantly work around video and augmentation Qualifications: You should meet at least one of the following: * Experience with lower-level software development, or * Experience with video, ideally in the browser (for example streaming, timing, latency, encrypted playback), or * Experience with three-dimensional or games graphics, ideally in the browser.
