Extend is building a modern document processing platform, reimagined with LLMs. We're on a mission to transform how the world works with unstructured data. As a Software Engineer at Extend, you’ll be responsible for building our core platform that companies use to configure, test, and deploy document processing. We’re looking to hire exceptional engineers who care about crafting intuitive product experiences, relentlessly focus on the details, and operate with high agency. WHY YOU SHOULD CONSIDER JOINING * We've grown revenue 4x last year to several million ARR, with our growth continuing to accelerate * We have a product loved by users and being used in mission-critical flows at companies like Chime, Flatiron Health, Brex, Square, Zillow, Opendoor, Checkr, and many more * We're building the next generation document processing platform — the market for document processing has expanded 1000x due to LLMs, and existing solutions are all low NPS * We're punching well above our weight, supporting customer and revenue metrics with half the team size of other startups — everyone joining at this stage will have outsized impact * We're tackling novel, unsolved problems at the intersection of LLMs, complex data processing, and human ↔ AI interfaces * We're backed by world class investors, including YC, Homebrew, investors from OpenAI, and more * You'll get a front row seat to how a successful startup is built with plenty of leadership opportunities as we grow quickly We're a lean team, and our customer base is growing too fast for us to keep up. We're looking for talented engineers to join our founding team ahead of our next round and execute on an ambitious roadmap. IMPACT We're powering mission-critical data processing at companies where if we get things wrong, there are real world impacts (e.g. missed payments, people can't move into homes on time). Here's a few of the complex technical problems we're working on: * How do we enable enterprises to deploy LLM-powered document processing into production with confidence? * How do we handle never before seen edge cases in customer data? * How do we build a self-correcting system that automatically gets better over time? * How do we enable non-technical domain experts to improve models with their expertise & business logic? * How do we help customers make tradeoffs between latency, cost, and performance? * How do we build reliable systems that can process large data streams in real-time? ROLE * Build, and maintain, durable, scalable systems capable of processing 10s of millions of data points per month. * Design and implement the best human ↔ AI interfaces for designing and understanding document processing. We are building a new territory of UX that previously did not exist. It’s up to us to discover and implement new patterns that work for our users. * Have complete ownership over the work you do — as a founding team member, you’ll have the opportunity to truly own large areas of product and engineering and have direct relationship with customers. * Work directly with the CEO, CTO, and other founding members and help build out our team. IDEAL CANDIDATE CREDENTIALS * Strong foundational understanding of computer science principles through coursework, personal projects, internships, or prior work experience * 3+ years of professional software engineering experience (internships and part-time roles count!) * Enthusiasm for building high-quality, user-facing products and interest in working across the stack * Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, take ownership of projects, and work independently when needed * Interest in AI/ML technologies and curiosity about building products powered by LLMs BENEFITS Beyond the below, we care deeply about each of our candidates on a personal level. We take the time to understand your needs to craft a package designed for you: * Insurance - 90% health insurance premium coverage * Relocation - for candidates based outside of NYC * Unlimited PTO policy - we trust everyone like owners, take what you need * Daily lunch & snacks covered (plus dinner if you're in the office late) - you'll never go hungry and you help pick the snacks * Unlimited token / tooling access - no handicaps on your productivity * Learning and development investment - we invest heavily in our team and support your growth Extend is an Equal Opportunity Employer. ABOUT F2 F2 is the AI platform for private markets investors — purpose-built to transform how institutional teams underwrite, diligence, and deploy capital. Our AI converts messy, unstructured deal materials into investment-grade insights in minutes, helping private credit funds, commercial banks, and private equity firms make faster, more confident decisions. Backed by leading investors, including NFX and Y Combinator, we’re scaling a world-class product and engineering team to build the future of vertical AI for finance. We are scaling quickly across our offices in New York, San Francisco, and London. ROLE OVERVIEW We're hiring a Head of Talent to build and own the full recruiting function at F2 — from strategy to close. We're doubling our headcount over the next two quarters, and this role is critical to making that happen. You'll partner directly with Finance and senior leadership to build hiring plans, set comp bands, and bring the caliber of people who will define what F2 becomes. As our first dedicated talent leader, you'll build the function from the ground up — with real ownership and real impact. This is the right role for someone who has built hiring infrastructure from scratch in a high-growth startup environment, knows how to recruit without relying on big-company brand leverage, and can operate as both a strategic talent partner and a hands-on full-cycle recruiter. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Own full-cycle recruiting across functions, with an emphasis on engineering, product, AI, deployment, and GTM roles. * Build the recruiting engine from the ground up: sourcing strategy, pipeline architecture, interview process, scorecards, candidate experience, offer process, and close strategy. * Partner with leadership and Finance on headcount planning, role prioritization, comp bands, recruiting budget, and agency ROI. * Bring a sales mindset to candidate engagement, including outbound messaging, narrative-building, objection handling, and close strategy. * Build strong pipelines in competitive talent markets, especially NYC and SF engineering, AI, product, and GTM ecosystems. * Create lightweight but rigorous recruiting systems, including ATS hygiene, reporting, funnel metrics, source quality, and hiring manager accountability. * Act as a talent brand ambassador for F2, helping candidates understand the size of the opportunity, the quality of the team, and the urgency of the market. * Help the company scale thoughtfully across New York, San Francisco, and London while keeping talent density high. YOU MIGHT BE A GREAT FIT IF * You have 6+ years of recruiting experience, including meaningful time in an early-stage or high-growth startup environment. * You have built a hiring function or recruiting engine from scratch, not just operated inside an established recruiting machine. * You have hired across technical and go-to-market roles, ideally including software engineering, product, AI, sales, and customer-facing roles. * You understand what it takes to recruit in low-brand-leverage environments where candidate selling, precision, persistence, and market mapping matter. * You are fluent in the NYC and SF talent markets and understand how competitive engineering and AI recruiting have become. * You are highly commercial: you can build a candidate narrative, sell the company, navigate objections, and close top talent. * You are analytical and comfortable with headcount plans, recruiting funnels, comp calibration, and basic recruiting finance. * You move quickly, operate with precision, and thrive in ambiguity. * You are energized by AI, private markets, and the chance to help build a category-defining company. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience scaling a startup from pre-seed, seed, or Series A through a major growth phase. * Experience hiring for AI, fintech, B2B SaaS, infrastructure, or vertical software companies. * Strong track record recruiting in both New York and San Francisco talent markets. * Experience partnering with founders, Finance, and senior leadership on headcount planning. * Familiarity with Ashby or similar modern ATS platforms, plus comfort building recruiting dashboards and pipeline reporting. WHY F2? * Join a fast-growing AI company building the execution layer for private markets and finance. * Own the talent function at a critical stage of company growth. * Work directly with founders and senior leaders on the hires that will shape the company. * Join a high-talent-density, in-person culture across New York, San Francisco, and London. * Competitive compensation, meaningful equity, and benefits. * Build something from scratch in a market where product momentum, customer urgency, and category timing are aligned. Location: New York, New York - Fully Onsite in our beautiful office in FiDi Base Salary: $170,000 – $200,000 + equity + benefits * For exceptionally senior candidates, final compensation may vary based on scope and experience.
