THE ROLE / POSITION OVERVIEW FT Specialist is offering an internal opportunity to join its Journalism Fellowship Program, a one-year rotational program running from September 7, 2026, through August 27, 2027. Fellows will rotate across editorial teams, gaining hands-on experience in reporting, interviewing, research, and content production while working alongside reporters, editors, and subject matter experts across FT Specialist. The program is designed for colleagues interested in developing journalism and storytelling skills and gaining exposure to specialist business reporting. Fellows will receive ongoing mentorship and coaching from senior editorial leaders throughout the program. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Participate in a year-long rotational program across different editorial teams. * Gain hands-on experience in news gathering, interviewing, document analysis, and story crafting. * Produce content in various formats including written articles, video, and graphics. * Attend editorial meetings and collaborate with editors and peers. * Build a portfolio of published clips and cultivate professional sources. * Receive regular mentorship from a group managing editor. REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE * Recent undergraduate degree (Master’s degree holders are not eligible). * No prior journalism experience required. * Strong desire to learn and grow within the field of journalism. * Eagerness to uncover and communicate compelling stories. * Curiosity about business and economic topics. THE ROLE / POSITION OVERVIEW FT Specialist is seeking a Data Reporter / Senior Data Reporter to join our growing data journalism team, producing exclusive, data-driven reporting and visual storytelling for FundFire and Financial Advisor IQ. This role sits at the intersection of journalism, data analysis and visual design. You will be responsible for sourcing, cleaning, analysing and interpreting complex datasets to uncover original stories covering institutional investments, wealth management and the financial advisory industry. You will also create engaging visualisations and interactive content that help our journalism stand out and deliver insights readers cannot find elsewhere. Working as part of a six-person data visualisation team, you will collaborate closely with reporters and editors across both publications while reporting to the Managing Editor of Data Visualization. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable developing ambitious long-term investigative and analytical projects as well as delivering shorter-turnaround stories that respond to emerging industry trends and news events. We are looking for a curious, collaborative and entrepreneurial journalist who is passionate about using data to reveal meaningful stories and who is committed to continually developing their skills in a fast-evolving newsroom environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Develop original, data-driven stories covering institutional investing, wealth management and financial advisory businesses. * Source, collect, clean and analyse structured and unstructured datasets using a range of journalistic and analytical techniques. * Build compelling charts, graphics and interactive visualisations that enhance storytelling and audience engagement. * Identify trends, anomalies and opportunities within datasets that lead to exclusive reporting. * Run and complete both long-term analytical projects and shorter-term assignments driven by current events . * Collaborate with reporters, editors and visual journalists across FundFire and Financial Advisor IQ. * Support colleagues in applying data journalism procedures and interpreting quantitative information accurately. * Use public records, databases, APIs, web scraping techniques and proprietary datasets to uncover new reporting opportunities. * Ensure all reporting and analysis meets the highest standards of accuracy, transparency and journalistic integrity. * Contribute to the ongoing development of data journalism capabilities across FT Specialist. THE ROLE / POSITION OVERVIEW FT Specialist, a business division of the Financial Times, is seeking a Deputy Editor for Health Payer Specialist, a publication covering one of the most dynamic sectors in the U.S. economy: health insurance. Published three times a week, Health Payer Specialist delivers essential news and intelligence to insurance companies, helping them grow and stay ahead of industry developments. This role is ideal for a journalist with strong experience covering the health insurance sector, a proven track record to break news, and a sharp analytical approach. You will produce both fast-turnaround scoops and in-depth trend analysis, while also interpreting sophisticated financial documents such as SEC filings and earnings reports. As Deputy Editor, you will work closely with the Managing Editor to shape coverage, contribute to editorial strategy, and step in to lead editing when required. As part of a small, high-performing team, you will play a key role in driving editorial output while also having the opportunity to grow into broader leadership responsibilities.
