ABOUT THE ROLE Take2 AI is hiring a hands-on Senior Software Engineer to lead and scale the infrastructure powering our AI-driven products. Our systems already support thousands of candidate interactions each month—now we’re building for millions. You’ll evolve the architecture to meet new demands, guide technical direction, and mentor engineers while delivering high-impact solutions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in both high-scale environments and fast-moving startups, playing a key leadership role from design through production with significant ownership over technical execution and direction. IN TERMS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: * 10+ years software engineering experience (with high exposure to full stack) * Bachelor’s in Computer Science or Computer Engineering * Has held titles such as Senior SWE, Staff/Principal Engineer, Software Engineering Lead, or Technical Lead * 2+ years at a Series D+ company * 2+ years at a fast-paced and high-growth early-stage startup (Series A or lower) * Demonstrated hands-on technical leadership—ownership of a domain, architecture decisions, delegation/mentoring * Experience building, operating, and scaling high-throughput, high-availability distributed systems, including observability/monitoring and reliability for mission-critical systems * Capable of contributing across the stack—backend, infrastructure, and web/frontend—jumping in where needed to deliver end-to-end solutions. * Comfortable navigating and working within infrastructure environments, including Kubernetes (EKS), ECS, EC2, and Docker—able to deploy, troubleshoot, and optimize services in production. * Skilled with JavaScript, Node.js, Python, React, AWS, EKS, ECS, Kubernetes, Docker, MySQL/Postgres PREFERRED: * Built, deployed and scaled end-to-end AI applications (LLMs, speech/voice, recommendation engines, etc.) in consumer-facing products * Experience with LLMs, Voice, Streaming, Low Latency, or Machine Learning Pipelines WHAT YOU’LL DO * Evolve and scale the backend architecture powering our AI-driven products * Lead technical execution: set architectural direction, mentor engineers, delegate effectively, and remain hands-on * Build and deliver end-to-end AI applications in close collaboration with product and founding teams * Ensure the reliability, scalability, and observability of production systems * Strengthen and evolve our engineering standards and technical culture as a key early leader on the team LOCATION & FLEXIBILITY We’re NYC-based and work hybrid (in-office Mon-Thu). ABOUT THE ROLE Take2 AI is hiring a Senior Software Engineer with deep Voice AI expertise and strong backend engineering skills. Our real-time voice agent pipeline (VAD + STT → LLM → TTS) already powers thousands of candidate conversations every month—now we’re scaling to millions. You’ll tackle challenges in low latency, high reliability, and large-scale architecture, shaping how our platform evolves as we grow. This role is hands-on, highly technical, and perfect for someone who thrives in a startup environment, playing a key role from design through production with significant ownership over technical execution and direction. IN TERMS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: * 6+ years software engineering experience (backend or full stack) * Bachelor’s in Computer Science or Computer Engineering * Direct, hands-on experience integrating and optimizing STT, TTS, VAD, and LLMs for real-time voice agents * Scaled and optimized voice pipelines for low latency, high availability, and real-time performance * Designed and implemented agent orchestration, evaluation frameworks, and related tooling * Shipped production AI applications with real-time inference, integrating ML models into live systems * Built and operated distributed backend systems with monitoring and observability in place * Strong proficiency in Python, JavaScript, Node.js, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker * 2+ years at an early to mid-stage startup (Series B or lower) PREFERRED: * Experience self-hosting AI/ML models for use in voice AI pipelines, including tuning and optimizing them for performance and reliability * Experience owning and operating distributed systems in high-throughput, streaming, low-latency environments, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance under real-time constraints WHAT YOU’LL DO * Own and scale the end-to-end voice agent pipeline that already powers thousands of monthly conversations—help us grow it to millions * Select, integrate, and tune models for optimal latency, quality, and reliability * Build orchestration logic, evaluation systems, and supporting backend services * Ensure low latency, high availability, and scalability of voice agent infrastructure * Collaborate closely with product and engineering to rapidly prototype and deliver features, playing a key role in driving the vision and evolution of our platform and product with significant ownership over technical execution and direction LOCATION & FLEXIBILITY We’re NYC-based and work hybrid (in-office Mon-Thu). You keep up with the latest spec and look for every opportunity to use new features. You're familiar with at least one modern framework and client side rendering technique. We use TypeScript, React, and Next.js to create our user interfaces, although specific knowledge of those is not a prerequisite. * UI & Product Instincts: You have feelings about how a web page should look and feel, care about the nuances of how users will work with the product you're building, and aim to build inclusive and accessible experiences. We don't expect you to be a visual designer, but we're looking for someone who can build on the work of our experienced design team. * Architecture and Performance optimization: You are comfortable going deeper into the stack to untangle caching inefficiencies, and troubleshoot across a wide array of distributed systems that make up a dynamic web application. You know how to use monitors and testing to know if changes improved or degraded the experience. You know how to architect for performance and maintainability. * Adaptability: You have comfort working full stack in Python when needed to get things done.  You have some experience with design tools like Figma or Sketch.
