You will design and optimise mission trajectories and contribute to flight preparation using high‑fidelity simulation tools. Embedded within the Mission Engineering team, this role operates at the interface between mission and launch operations and the GNC team. You will work closely with GNC by using GNC tools and models, performing 6‑DoF analyses to support mission design and analysis, and ensuring that mission engineering needs and operational considerations are properly exercised and covered in simulation. In addition to supporting active missions, you will contribute to mission design trade‑offs and future mission planning through 3‑DoF trajectory studies and preliminary 6‑DoF analyses. The role offers hands‑on involvement across the mission analysis lifecycle, with a strong emphasis on analytical rigour, traceability, and robust engineering workflows. Your Role in Our Space Mission In this role, you will: * Develop customer‑facing technical proposal content, including mission concepts, system descriptions, trade‑offs, and compliance matrices. * Analyse customer, institutional, and program‑level requirements and translate them into clear, concise, and traceable technical responses, including documented assumptions, constraints, and exclusions. * Coordinate with Mission Engineering and relevant subject‑matter experts to generate technically credible and internally aligned proposal inputs. * Translate complex technical concepts into clear, structured proposal material suitable for both customers and non‑technical stakeholders. * Contribute to bid / no‑bid decisions by assessing technical feasibility, compliance status, schedule drivers, and key technical risks. * Act as a technical point of contact for customer technical exchanges, clarification calls, and written Q&A activities throughout the bid phase. * Define and refine technical Statements of Work (SoWs) and associated deliverables, and support technical clarification activities during early contract development. * Translate customer and contractual requirements into well‑defined inputs for internal development and engineering teams during proposal and contract handover phases. * Contribute, where appropriate, to mission engineering analysis or development activities that strengthen proposal assumptions, reference missions, and overall technical credibility. * Consolidate customer feedback and market inputs to support the evolution of future launch service offerings. * Participate in customer meetings alongside commercial leads, building confidence through technically sound contributions and consistent technical messaging. Qualification Checklist * Perform mission‑specific 3‑DoF trajectory design, optimisation, targeting, and trade‑off studies for active and future launch missions. * Execute and interpret high‑fidelity 6‑DoF simulations to validate mission designs, targeting strategies, and operational margins, in close coordination with the GNC team. * Support preliminary 6‑DoF analyses for future mission concepts and mission planning activities. * Work closely with the GNC team as a technical mission analysis interface, using GNC tools and models to support the implementation and validation of mission designs. * Define and manage Mission Engineering inputs and requirements towards internal simulation and 6‑DoF model development. * Coordinate mission‑related inputs with specialists in GNC, propulsion, structures, fluids, and systems engineering, ensuring technical consistency across mission assumptions and interfaces. * Coordinate with Mission Management to support timely execution of mission planning and launch preparation milestones. * Support flight preparation and mission readiness activities, including trajectory validation, performance assessments, and margin analysis. * Maintain and evolve mission analysis models, tools, and workflows, ensuring results are reproducible, traceable, and scalable across missions. * Produce clean, well‑documented analysis outputs and datasets, and contribute to the investigation of mission sensitivities, dispersions, and performance drivers. Bonus Skills * Experience with Gitlab CI/CD pipelines. * Experience supporting launch campaigns, flight readiness reviews, or mission operations. * Additional languages are a plus. Benefits * Employee Participation Program: Share in our success through our virtual company share program * 30 days of vacation: Enjoy the days off to relax and recharge * Company pension plan: Secure your future with our company pension plan, featuring a 20% employer contribution after the probation period * Subsidised lunch: Stay energised with delicious, subsidised lunches every day * Public transport ticket: Commute with ease using a fully financed Deutschlandticket * Sport Clubs membership: Stay fit with our sponsored sports club memberships (EGYM Wellpass) * Individual learning allowance: Grow your skills with an individual learning budget granted after the probation period * Childcare allowance: Receive a childcare allowance for your non-school-age children * And Much More!
