Certified as a Great Place to Work around the world, Baringa has been recognised by the Financial Times in 22 categories of its UK Leading Management Consultants rankings, and by Forbes for four consecutive years as one of the World’s Best Management Consulting Firms. OUR POWER AND LOW CARBON SOLUTIONS PRACTICE IS LOOKING FOR A (SENIOR) MANAGER (M/W/D) TO JOIN THE TEAM IN DÜSSELDORF. Baringa’s market leading Power Market Advisory practice works with clients across the energy value chain—utilities, independent power producers, developers, network companies, commodity traders, industrials, investors, policymakers and regulators. We combine deep market, technical, commercial and regulatory expertise to help clients develop projects, deploy capital, and optimize value across the energy transition, including renewables, storage, clean molecules and low carbon infrastructure. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING * Market & strategy support: Lead market assessments across German and Central European wholesale power, emerging technologies (e.g., renewables, storage, PtX/clean molecules) and business models. Shape strategic recommendations for corporate and investment clients, ensuring analytical robustness and commercial relevance. * Quantitative analysis & modelling: Oversee the development and enhancement of complex datasets, models, and analytical frameworks to evaluate market fundamentals, asset revenues and commercial performance for renewables and flexible resources (e.g., batteries, pumped storage, demand response). Provide quality assurance and guide junior team members in best‑practice modelling approaches. * Transaction support: Manage and coordinate buy‑ and sell‑side commercial due diligence processes for renewables, storage and early‑stage low‑carbon assets. Drive the identification of value drivers, risks, commercial structures and route‑to‑market considerations, while steering stakeholder alignment and delivering clear investment‑grade insights. * Portfolio & asset insights: Steer analytical work on asset dispatch, hedging concepts, and portfolio optimisation strategies, partnering directly with developers, IPPs and investors. Translate market and asset insights into actionable portfolio and trading strategies. * Tenders & auctions: Lead in structuring, pricing and submitting bids for competitive government tenders and auctions in Germany and Central Europe. * Client deliverables: Own the development of compelling client deliverables, including executive‑level presentations, memos and dashboards. Ensure that complex analysis is translated into clear, strategic recommendations. Manage project workstreams, coordinate cross-functional teams, and maintain strong client relationships throughout delivery. YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE A well-rounded candidate should demonstrate a balance of strengths across these key areas: * Expertise: Deep understanding of the German and Central European power market including market fundamentals, market design policy and regulation and commercial structures. * Experience: At least 6 years of experience in management consulting or an internal role focused on Power Market Advisory. * Analytical skills: Analytical skills applied to energy market fundamentals, combined with market- and asset modelling. * Energy market interest: Willingness to work occasionally in different market contexts and themes, or support model development. * Domain exposure: Experience in commercial structures, assessing routes to market for power generation assets and designing business models in energy markets. * Project management: The ability to manage projects day-to-day and oversee inputs/outputs from the modelling team. * Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills and a track record of effective teamwork. * Ways of working: The ability to take ownership and deliver results in client-facing environments. * Languages: Advanced language skills in German and English required. WHO WE ARE - OUR MISSION terralayr addresses the massive deficit in global energy storage. The over-indexing of electricity generation from renewable energy sources leads to large volatility on the energy grid. The main problem is that wind and solar farms are fluctuating and, by definition, unsteady—there is no sun at night, and it is not always windy. This increases the need for flexibility in the form of battery storage systems to balance the grid in times when supply and demand do not match. By buying and developing grid-scale storage assets and virtually aggregating them across a layer, we are creating the world's first energy cloud. Imagine AWS for energy. Through the flexibility we secure, we can market flexibility-as-a-service and hedging products/power insurance to utilities, SMEs, and industrial players and create virtual storage capacity for PV and wind farms. WHAT WE ARE HIRING FOR - YOUR ROLE As Commercial Structuring Manager (m/f/d), you drive our most complex customer deals from “qualified lead” to signing. You structure bankable, risk-aligned commercial terms and run the cross-functional deal process across Sales, Finance/Risk, Legal, and Product, turning first-time complexity into repeatable templates and playbooks. WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON - YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES * Own commercial structuring for complex deals (e.g., tolling contracts, route-to-market service agreements), from qualified lead and term sheet drafting to LFA signing * Lead cross-functional deal execution, ensuring critical inputs and back-to-back alignment of Finance/Risk, Legal, Product, and technical stakeholders land on time * Establish execution discipline in deal-making (timeline management, decision logs, open points tracking), so the deal owner can focus on steering the commercial process * Create and continuously improve repeatable offering structures, templates, and playbooks covering the majority of recurring deal types * Ensure alignment of new and existing service supplier contracts with our commercial offerings WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR - YOUR QUALIFICATIONS * Experience in multi-stakeholder deal work incl. commercial and financial structuring * Previous exposure to complex infrastructure or energy contracts is a plus * Legal and technical affinity, comfortable with physical, mathematical, and contractual concepts and vocabulary * Excellent critical thinking, you can integrate multiple perspectives and challenge assumptions constructively * Proven cross-functional stakeholder management (Sales, Finance/Risk, Legal, Tech, Assets), and ability to work with external advisors when needed * High execution discipline and prioritization under time pressure, you get things done and keep deals moving * Strong risk awareness and pragmatic judgement, you can balance rigor with commercial reality * Negotiation and arbitration skills, you can bridge seemingly conflicting positions internally and externally * Energy market experience, you understand the stakeholders, processes, and language of the space * Fluent in German and English WHY YOU SHOULD BE EXCITED ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY * Work for a company with a clear mission: A world powered by 100% renewable energy * Have impact from day 1: Your contribution will not only have a positive impact on society; by joining our small and nimble team, your work will make a difference from day one. * Become a Shareholder: In addition to your competitive base salary your compensation includes an ESOP component that lets you participate in the development of our growing company. * Invest into your personal development: We guarantee a steep learning curve combined with a lot of space to bring in your own ideas and shape terralayr’s future. On top, you benefit from our Learning & Development budget of 1,000 EUR per person per year.
