Your mission As a Senior Backend Engineer working in the Developer Experience team, you’ll take on a challenging role in collaborating with product managers, stakeholders, and fellow engineers to build and optimize a dynamic, scalable, and high-impact platform. Our team takes pride in creating seamless user experiences while ensuring the underlying systems are efficient, robust, and extendable. You'll contribute to architectural decisions, and drive technical excellence across the stack with emphasis on the Backend at scale. You'll contribute to the evolution of our platform, ensuring efficient data structures, clear API interfaces, building and evolving developer tools and framework, supporting platform extensibility and scale third-party integrations. Your work will encompass API design and implementation, ensuring high-quality code with well-defined testing strategies and having a scalability mindset. Your expertise in API design, scalability and understanding of public facing interfaces will be instrumental in enhancing our platform’s reliability and extensibility.

YOUR MISSION: As a Backend Engineer at lemon.markets you will play a key role in designing the backend services and architecture of our brokerage API platform that allows other companies to easily embed investing into their product. You will take ownership of features and services end to end in cross-functional teams, ensuring they run smoothly on production. You will focus on areas of the Customer Lifecycle, Investing or Banking processes - making sure our Core Platform & Systems around it are reliable & scalable. Our Tech Stack is Python, FastAPI, AWS and Postgres. While you can have worked in different modern tech stacks prior, you should be excited to work in Python and learn it if you haven’t worked with it before. You will have a significant impact on the development of our core Platform & Systems - and thereby architectural decisions, as well as on the business itself. Work alongside a cross-functional team of experts, and together we will leverage your previous experiences to build the investment infrastructure for the next 100 million retail investors in Europe. ABOUT YOU: * You have the ability to write well-structured and tested code in more than one high-level programming languages like Python, Golang, Java or Ruby, plus another language such as Javascript or Typescript. * You have experience in designing and implementing highly scalable architecture and reliable REST APIs and bring the desire to make them world-class. * You’ve gained good experience with software in a cloud environment (AWS, GCP, Azure) and the architectural patterns for this environment. * You have a good understanding of more than one document-based or relational database technology such as MySQL/PostgreSQL or MongoDB * You know how to write high-quality code that is understandable, maintainable and well tested, and can guide other engineers to do the same via code reviews. * You have good problem-solving skills and the ability to provide in-depth evaluations and analyses of unique and complex technological issues. * You have a track record of designing, building and operating reliable and scalable backend systems as part of a cross-functional team. This is a high-impact individual contributor role where you'll own meaningful projects and directly influence how our engineering team works. You'll focus on shipping well-crafted backend systems while collaborating closely with the team to deliver features that solve real customer problems. We value engineers who take initiative, care about the details, and aren't afraid to venture beyond their primary domain when needed.
