DATABASE ENGINEER - CONSULTING ASSIGNMENT
Are you an experienced Database Engineer with deep expertise in PostgreSQL and database migrations? We at WeQuel are currently
looking for a Senior Database Engineer for a consulting assignment with one of our clients in Stockholm. This is an exciting
opportunity to play a key role in a large-scale database migration initiative, helping modernize a business-critical platform
while ensuring stability, performance, and minimal operational disruption.
As a consultant with us, you will have the opportunity to work with some of our clients who are leading companies within the
pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and industrial sectors, contributing to process optimization, implementation of new technologies,
and the development of sustainable solutions.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
In this role, you will lead and actively support the migration of database services from Oracle to PostgreSQL. You will work
closely with development teams to translate application requirements into robust database solutions while ensuring compatibility,
performance, and reliability throughout the migration process.
YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
Lead and support the end-to-end migration of Oracle database services to PostgreSQL
- Collaborate with development teams to translate application requirements into database solutions throughout the migration
process
Review and validate database schemas, configurations, and application code changes
Ensure database performance, compatibility, and reliability during migration
Document migration learnings, technical decisions, and best practices
Review the existing database setup and recommend improvements
Work closely with database and development teams to ensure a smooth and successful migration
WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO:
Has extensive experience as a PostgreSQL DBA or PostgreSQL Developer
Has solid knowledge of Oracle databases and Oracle-to-PostgreSQL data type mappings
Has hands-on experience leading or supporting PostgreSQL migration projects
Has experience working with Liquibase for schema versioning and database migrations
Is able to work independently within an established migration framework
Has strong collaboration and communication skills when working with development and database teams
Is fluent in English, both written and spoken
MERITORIOUS EXPERIENCE:
Experience developing Java applications using PostgreSQL
Experience working with distributed systems and event-driven architectures
Experience with Kafka and/or Solace
Experience using AI agents and automation tools in development workflows
Experience migrating high-traffic services with minimal downtime
