Welcome to apply for the position of Professor of Pedagogy with an artistic specialisation
We are looking for someone who wishes to work with teaching, research and supervision at all levels within the dance pedagogy subject area. Your main duties will be within the subject teacher training programme in dance and the bachelor’s programme in dance pedagogy.
As a professor, you will be a leader in artistic research within your artistic field, with the quality of your work meeting the highest international standards. You must possess both extensive academic expertise and a deep understanding of educational practice within your artistic field. You are expected to engage in and drive academic research, as well as to be able to critically reflect on the pedagogical processes involved in your teaching.
Work tasks
Your work tasks will include teaching, supervising and assessing students across all the department’s programmes, as well as on students’ independent projects at undergraduate and second cycle levels. You will participate in the development of existing and new courses and programmes in relation to other subject areas at SKH.
Your work tasks will also include:
leading developments in the dance pedagogy subject area and monitoring broader societal developments that are relevant to work within higher education.
working to ensure a research-based foundation in all the department’s programmes.
creating opportunities for the development of research competence within the faculty.
teaching pedagogy and didactics in dance.
conducting research and development in dance pedagogy.
conducting and leading practice-based research within ULF (Education, Learning and Research).
working to enable students to develop an understanding of intersectional perspectives.
Managing course administration, driving the departments’ development work and collaborating both internally within SKH and with external partners.
contributes to the development of SKH’s education programmes and research and works to promote integration between them.
You will play a key role in building a shared culture of openness and collaboration at SKH and in helping to create a positive working environment. You may be offered responsibilities such as leading independent second-cycle courses, and you will also be given the opportunity to dedicate time to academic research.
Eligibility
To be eligible for appointment as a professor of pedagogy with an artistic specialisation, you must have demonstrated both academic and pedagogical competence.
Pedagogic expertise at professor level means that you have displayed pedagogic expertise in an artistic context within or outside higher education, as well as the ability to develop, lead and implement education of high quality at different levels. Pedagogic expertise also means experience of the research basis for education at first and second cycle level, or corresponding expertise demonstrated in an artistic context outside higher education. The term pedagogic expertise also includes pedagogic commitment and well developed, fundamental pedagogic views that have been set down in writing.
The concept of pedagogical competence also encompasses pedagogical commitment and a well-developed and documented pedagogical philosophy.
Scientific competence means being a leader within one’s scientific field and/or having conducted scientific research of the highest quality. The quality of the work must be of the highest international standard, demonstrating both depth and breadth of knowledge within the relevant academic field. Academic competence also entails a strong ability to establish, lead and develop the relevant academic field, as well as a strong ability to communicate knowledge about the field. In addition, scientific competence is demonstrated through high-quality scientific publications of significant scope within the relevant subject area, research grants obtained through competitive processes, the initiation and management of research projects, research collaborations, collaborative assignments, contributions to the development of the subject area, and through roles as an external expert, expert, editor or similar.

You must also possess the personal qualities required to perform the role effectively and to represent the university in a manner that benefits its operations.
You must be able to teach in both Swedish and English.
The role requires you to be actively engaged in academic pedagogical artistic research.
Assessment criteria
The following assessment criteria will be evaluated in order of priority and must be documented:
A doctoral degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Fine Arts with a pedagogical specialisation
Pedagogical and academic expertise in pedagogy with a pedagogical specialisation
Experience of teaching and supervising students at university level at undergraduate and second cycle levels.
Experience of pedagogical work with a focus on intersectional perspectives.
Experience of conducting, leading and publishing the results of practice-based research.
Experience of working in an international context.
Experience of various teaching and assessment methods.
