We are currently looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join us remotely in the UK as we plan to set up a hub in the UK in the following 6-12 months to enable our GTM strategy. You will work with our EMEA and US customers to help them solve their data engineering, ML, ML Ops, and cloud migration puzzles. As a Senior Data Engineer, you are expected to deliver (across industries) on some of our most complex projects - individually or by leading small delivery teams. Although we work for the biggest multinational companies where years-long behemoth projects are the norm, our projects are fast-paced, typically 2 to 4 months long. Most are delivered using Apache Spark/Databricks on AWS/Azure and require you to directly manage the customer relationship alone or in collaboration with a Project Manager. Additionally, at this seniority level, we expect you to compound your impact across the team and the organization - by supporting our pre-sales process, mentoring more junior engineers, and contributing to hiring best-in-class data talent. What does it take to fit the bill? Technical Expertise * You (ideally) have 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with a focus on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP); * You have a proven track record working with Databricks (PySpark, SQL, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog); * You have extensive experience in ETL/ELT development and data pipeline orchestration (e.g., Databricks Workflows, DLT, Airflow, ADF, Glue, and Step Functions.); * You’re proficient in SQL and Python, using them to transform and optimize data like a pro; * You know your way around CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Bicep); * You’ve hands-on experience integrating Databricks with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker).  Consulting & Client-Facing Skills * Ideally, you bring a proven history in consulting, from scoping to gathering requirements, designing solutions, and communicating effectively with stakeholders. If you bring a product company background with you, that's also fine as long as you can show a good consulting mindset and desire to be customer-facing; * You’ve successfully delivered projects like Data Lakehouse buildouts and cloud data migrations; * You excel in explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences and drive decision-making. INTRODUCTION We are looking for a Senior Electronics Engineer with a digital focus to join our world class multidisciplinary team to help solve complex technical challenges across a broad range of industries. THE ROLE At Cambridge Consultants we help our clients develop breakthrough technology across a broad range of industries including Energy and Industrial, Defence and Security, Consumer, Telecoms, Healthcare and Biotechnology, among various others.  As a Senior Electronics Engineer with a digital focus, you will collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams to own and solve the electronics aspects of complex technical challenges for a variety of clients within these industries, from start-ups to established multinational organizations and government entities. You will initially establish yourself as a safe pair of hands delivering electronics designs. While some of your work will involve general-purpose electronics design, you will also be a key specialist for digital design projects. We will provide the time and support needed to acquire additional specialist skills, such as using Signal Integrity tools like HyperLynx, and mastering hardware design for AMD and/or Xilinx FPGAs. THE ROLE   We have an opportunity for a Principal Engineer in our AI & Algorithms department, working with a particular focus on our defence and security clients. You’ll join a team of talented engineers and scientists designing, building and testing intelligent systems that require cutting edge algorithms. As one of the senior technical voices in the team, you’ll be architecting the algorithmic approach on our projects, setting the technical bar for others, and helping shape the work we deliver. As well as hands-on engineering, you’ll spend time with clients, using your expertise to win new projects as well as deliver them. You’ll work in multidisciplinary teams that use our labs and computing resources to enable us to deliver ambitious projects. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING   * Applying data-driven software development in machine learning/AI, applied statistics, and sensor processing, alongside mathematical computing techniques such as digital signal processing, simulation, and numerical optimisation.  * Acting as technical lead and architect on our larger, more complex projects, owning the technical solution and the value it delivers to the client.  * Setting technical direction and acting as technical reviewer across the department, with your opinion sought by colleagues.  * Leading the development of proposals and costed work programmes, turning client problems into work we can win and deliver.  * Driving internal capability and demonstrators that keep us at the leading edge and open up new conversations with clients.  * Mentoring engineers and conducting technical interviews to help us recruit and grow strong people.  * Contributing to how the department works, improving our processes and technical standards.  WHAT YOU CAN BRING We are looking for an experienced engineer, with the breadth to lead the algorithmic component of multidisciplinary work and the ability to work with our commercial teams to help create and win new work. * 5+ years’ experience designing and delivering cutting edge algorithms for intelligent systems, including working on defence or security projects.  * Technical skills in one or more of: transformer models, diffusion models, reinforcement learning, machine vision and perception.  * A strong undergraduate degree in a relevant technical subject, such as AI/machine learning, computer science, mathematics or, physics. A PhD in a relevant subject is welcome but not required; deep, demonstrable industrial expertise is what matters.  * Strong Python and software engineering judgement. * The ability to architect the technical approach on complex projects and to review the work of others, including working autonomously as the technical authority.  * Experience mentoring and developing engineers.  * Experience working with non-technical stakeholders for your work.  * Interest in working directly with clients and contributing to proposals and sales conversations.  * A genuine affinity for working in the defence and security sector.   Because of where this role sits, holding (or being able to obtain) UK security clearance is essential.
