At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset — who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done. ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a software engineer to help build and evolve Snowflake’s NodeJS Driver and Universal Driver platform. This role sits at the intersection of developer experience, distributed systems, client libraries, and performance-sensitive infrastructure. You will work on the Node.js connector used by application developers today while also helping drive Snowflake’s Universal Driver architecture, which is consolidating multiple language drivers behind a shared core written in Rust with thin language-specific wrappers. In this role, you will contribute to secure connection and authentication flows, SQL execution, result handling, type conversions, compatibility, release quality, and long-term maintainability. You will partner closely with engineers across driver teams, test and performance engineering, release engineering, product management, documentation, and security to deliver reliable client connectivity at scale. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Design, implement, and maintain features in Snowflake’s NodeJS Driver, including connection lifecycle, statement execution, result processing, type handling, and error handling. * Improve the security and reliability of the driver stack, including work related to SSL/TLS, token handling, MFA/SSO flows, certificate validation, and secure authentication options. * Help evolve Snowflake’s Universal Driver architecture, which aims to replace independently maintained drivers with a shared core and consistent language wrappers. * Build and improve shared driver capabilities across core and wrapper layers, with attention to backward compatibility, consistency, and customer migration safety. * Drive high-quality engineering execution through testing, performance analysis, CI improvements, production issue response, and release readiness. * Collaborate with engineers across multiple language ecosystems and shared infrastructure to make Snowflake drivers simpler to maintain and easier for developers to adopt. * Partner with product, documentation, release engineering, and support stakeholders to deliver polished APIs, clear guidance, and dependable releases. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR * Strong software engineering fundamentals in backend or systems-oriented development. * Professional experience with Node.js and JavaScript or TypeScript, especially in SDKs, APIs, infrastructure, or platform components. * Experience designing or maintaining developer-facing libraries, connectors, drivers, or other reusable platform abstractions. * Familiarity with database connectivity concepts such as sessions, query execution, result streaming, type mapping, retries, and error handling. * Experience building secure systems, including authentication, TLS, token management, and certificate-related controls. * A strong quality mindset, including automated testing, performance tuning, debugging, and production ownership. * Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, documentation, and release stakeholders. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience with systems programming or shared-core architectures, including Rust, C, or C++ interop. * Experience building cross-language platforms, FFI-based integrations, or wrapper architectures for multiple runtimes. * Experience with driver or connector performance work, compatibility testing, or release engineering for widely used client software. * Experience working on products where backward compatibility and customer migration risk are important design constraints. WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Snowflake’s drivers are a critical part of how customers and internal teams connect applications to the platform. The NodeJS Driver is an important developer-facing integration surface, and Universal Driver is a strategic investment to unify architecture, improve consistency, reduce maintenance burden, and achieve equal or better performance across language ecosystems. This role is a chance to shape both the current developer experience in Node.js and the long-term future of Snowflake’s driver platform. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done. There is only one Data Cloud. Snowflake’s founders started from scratch and designed a data platform built for the cloud that is effective, affordable, and accessible to all data users. But it didn’t stop there. They engineered Snowflake to power the Data Cloud, where thousands of organizations unlock the value of their data with near-unlimited scale, concurrency, and performance. This is our vision: a world with endless insights to tackle the challenges and opportunities of today and reveal the possibilities of tomorrow. Snowflake started with a clear vision: develop a cloud data platform that is effective, affordable, and accessible to all data users. Snowflake developed an innovative new product with a built-for-the-cloud architecture that combines the power of data warehousing, the flexibility of big data platforms, and the elasticity of the cloud at a fraction of the cost of traditional solutions. We are now a global, world-class organization with offices in more than a dozen countries and serving many more. WHAT YOU WILL DO: * Perform penetration testing engagements against a diverse cloud environment and find vulnerabilities in software, systems, and networks. * Set scope, priority based test plans, and timelines for penetration testing engagements. * You will figure out how to test new applications, technologies, protocols, controls, and concepts where there is no out-of-the-box methodology. * Work with security and engineering teams to manage product releases, plan engagements, communicate findings and recommendations, and inform stakeholders. * Partner closely with security engineers in the Product Security program to drive reviews, designs, and controls from outcomes. * Focus primarily on penetration testing, but advocate for and support other processes in the SDLC as needed. * Develop automated security testing tools and security automation frameworks to enhance scalability and eliminate recurring vulnerabilities. WHY YOU SHOULD WORK WITH US: * We are laser focused on doing security better, and we do not tolerate the status quo. * Snowflake is constantly innovating, if you want to further yourself technically there is no better place to be exposed to a wide variety of new technologies. * Snowflake AppSec program is very innovative - think about Threat Modeling as Code, autonomous security champions and agentic driven security. * We have strong demand from our customers, and support from the business for security. * We are a great team that combines a diverse set of backgrounds and skills. * Did we mention we are one of the fastest-growing software companies, ever?
