What you’ll do Right now, we are looking for a Full Stack Builder for our Digital Enterprise team. This is a new role at Stegra, and not a traditional developer position. As a Full Stack Builder, you will work broadly across the development lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with different parts of the business, explore ideas early, and turn them into working solutions using modern tools, including AI. You will join one of our key domains, either enabling plant capabilities or the digital steel mill, both central to how we build and operate our business. In your domain, you will work close to real operations, helping shape solutions that make a tangible difference while growing your skills as a well-rounded digital builder. This role is a great fit if you are early in your career or have a few years of experience and are motivated by learning, collaboration, and the opportunity to turn ideas into real, impactful solutions. Specific to this role, the day-to-day tasks will include the following, but as we are a growing company with very little silos between teams, other tasks might be included as well. Build and improve digital solutions end-to-end, from idea to production Collaborate with stakeholders to understand needs and shape practical solutions Develop integrations that enable smooth and reliable data flows across systems Contribute to solution design, including structure, data models, and scalability Work with modern development practices such as version control, CI/CD, and iterative delivery Use AI tools to support development, learning, and problem-solving Improve existing systems to increase usability, reliability, and long-term value Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement of live solutions What you’ll bring You’re curious and believe that real progress happens when we work together. Backend Engineer – Digital Enterprise (HR & Finance) At Stegra, we are building a next-generation steel plant - and digital capabilities are a core part of how we operate, optimize, and scale our operations. Our teams work cross-functionally to build solutions that are scalable, maintainable, and create real value. We are now looking for a Backend Engineer to join our Digital Domain supporting HR and Finance. What you’ll do In this role, you will be part of a cross-functional team within our Digital Enterprise function, working closely with both business and technical colleagues. Your day-to-day work will include: Developing and maintain backend services that enable reliable HR and Finance operations Designing APIs and integrations that enable reliable and scalable communication between systems Working with both synchronous and asynchronous patterns, including event-driven approaches where relevant Contributing to how services are structured, interact, and evolve over time Collaborating with HR and Finance stakeholders to understand needs and turn them into working solutions Breaking down problems into clear technical components and development tasks Ensuring that security, data protection, and access control are embedded in the solutions we build How we work Modular, microservice-based architecture Combination of well-designed APIs and event-driven integrations Integration treated as a core capability Systems designed to evolve and be replaceable over time Iterative development - delivering early and improving continuously We make use of modern tools, including AI-assisted development, while placing strong emphasis on understanding problems, making sound technical decisions, and building solutions that work in practice. What you’ll bring A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience A few years of experience in backend development Experience working with APIs and/or microservice-based systems Interest in how systems are designed and how components interact over time Familiarity with asynchronous patterns (events, messaging, queues) Ability to break down complex problems into structured technical solutions Comfortable working directly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Interest in understanding business processes and how digital solutions support them Meriting: Experience with Kotlin / Spring or similar Experience with cloud, DevOps practices, or CI/CD Experience working with testing, monitoring, or production systems How you will grow We believe the best engineers don’t work in silos.
