We’re now looking for a Customer Success Engineer (CSE) to help engineering teams successfully adopt Kotlin on the backend in real-world production environments. Currently, this role is focused on adoption – helping Java teams introduce Kotlin into existing applications. You’ll work directly with organizations to guide migration, integration, troubleshooting, and scaling, ensuring they move from initial experiments to successful production use. In addition, you’ll proactively communicate with prospective users to help them understand the Kotlin adoption process, as well as design and implement the migration path. RESPONSIBILITIES * Track and maintain visibility into organizations and their stage of Kotlin adoption (e.g., not started, evaluating, experimenting, production) * Proactively engage with organizations across different phases of their Kotlin adoption journey * Develop and recommend high-level adoption strategies tailored to each organization’s context * Identify and document blockers that hinder progress and propose ways to address them * Establish and manage feedback loops with development teams to ensure continuous alignment and improvement WE WILL BE HAPPY TO HAVE YOU ON OUR TEAM IF YOU HAVE: Technical expertise * Extensive hands-on experience with Kotlin, Java, and the JVM ecosystem * Proven experience migrating Java backend codebases to Kotlin * Experience with the Spring (Boot) ecosystem or similar frameworks (e.g., Quarkus, Micronaut, Ktor) * Solid understanding of build tools and project structuring, including Maven and Gradle Communication and customer engagement * Experience in customer-facing technical roles such as Solutions Engineering, Developer Advocacy, or Technical Consulting * Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken * Ability to lead workshops, demos, talks, meetups, and other public-facing activities * Comfort with outbound engagement, including identifying target companies, articulating value propositions, and building relationships with engineering teams * Ability to effectively communicate with engineers, tech leads, and business stakeholders System design and architecture * Ability to design and guide Kotlin adoption strategies for backend applications * Experience designing backend systems using common architectural patterns (e.g., monolith, modulith, microservices) Why join JetBrains? * Strong base salary. The Infrastructure Engineering team’s mission is to provide cloud native infrastructure, automation and tools that enable teams across Toast to deliver products in a safe, secure and agile manner, with minimal operational dependencies. As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for platform architecture and providing the automation and implementation for landing zones as well as network and security infrastructure for new AWS regions. A day in the life (Responsibilities) * Work within a Scrum team to create, document and support various infrastructure as code modules. * Create, document and support various tools and services used in order to support continuous integration, continuous delivery and continuous deployment of highly available infrastructure in various environments. * Use your familiarity with DevOps methodologies and practices to foster a culture of quality while facilitating developer velocity. * Create tools to help our developers move their infrastructure from a monolithic repo to individual service repos for use with our IDP. * You believe internal tools deserve unit tests. * Lead by example with code standards and design; help implement these across the scrum team’s products. * Mentor and support developers within the organisation on using and extending of IaC tooling and support systems using DevOps methodologies. What you'll need to thrive (Requirements) * Minimum 6+ years of experience in a DevOps/Infrastructure/Platform engineering role * Hands on experience with object orientated programming is a MUST for this role (Java or Kotlin ideally) * You must have hands on experience with writing Terraform Providers * Expertise with at least one public cloud computing offering such as AWS, GCP or Azure infrastructure SDKs * Expertise with Infrastructure-as-Code framework internals & SDKs (Terraform providers, Ansible modules & plugins, etc) * Solid experience in Go, Python, Java or Kotlin with a strong understanding of testing, quality and best practices. * Experience maintaining large-scale infrastructure, including both production and nonproduction workloads. * Experience with the continuous integration, deployment, and delivery of Cloud Infrastructure at scale for technology teams of hundreds of developers. * A desire to build a diverse team that wins together and prioritises customer success. * Experience leading the build and scale of critical platform features.
