Our Machine Learning Internship is designed for curious, ambitious researchers who want to apply machine learning to complex, real-world problems. Over 10 weeks, you'll work alongside experienced researchers and mentors to develop models, analyze large-scale datasets, and contribute to research that informs IMC's trading strategies across global equities, futures, and options markets. You'll begin with a week of engaging, classroom-based learning in the proprietary trading landscape, then gain hands-on experience designing experiments, evaluating novel approaches, and tackling challenging problems in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where your work can have real-world impact. Split between our Amsterdam headquarters and time at our London office, the program also gives you the chance to broaden your network across IMC's regions. Throughout the program, you'll deepen your understanding of quantitative trading through a combination of classroom and on-desk training, while benefiting from professional development and networking opportunities. You'll receive comprehensive support from dedicated internship trainers and a one-on-one mentor to guide you in your work and professional development. High-performing interns may be considered for a full-time Graduate Researcher position upon graduation. Your Core Responsibilities: * Conduct hands-on research to design, develop, and apply original machine learning algorithms, with the support to explore and innovate * Analyze large-scale datasets, develop predictive models, and evaluate novel approaches to complex market problems * Develop your research skills through hands-on project work, mentorship, and regular feedback from experienced researchers * Enhance your understanding of quantitative trading through classroom-based instruction in options theory, market making, and related topics Your Skills and Experience: * Currently in your penultimate year of study, graduating in 2028 * A minimum of an MSc in Machine Learning, Statistics, Deep Learning, Probabilistic Programming, or a related quantitative field * Strong foundations in statistics and machine learning, with a demonstrated research track record in ML, deep learning, or another quantitative field * Proficiency in Python and core machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch * Desirable: publications in respected journals covering deep learning or time-series modeling * No prior finance knowledge or experience required * Ability to start the internship on the last week of June 2027 You may submit one application per role each year. THE ROLE: WHAT'S IN THE BOX Our Product Operations team sits at the very heart of what HelloFresh does — making sure the most attractive menus and the right ingredients reach the right customers, week after week.  As a Menu Planning & Ingredients Intern, you will work across two closely connected teams, giving you a rare, end-to-end view of how our menus come to life. From shaping what lands on our customers' plates to keeping our HelloFresh Market running smoothly, your work will have a real and visible impact on the product. This is a 5-6 month internship based in Amsterdam, and it's an ideal role for someone who is equally energized by food and by data. This is a paid internship (€700 gross/month based on a 40-hour work week) designed to offer hands-on experience in a fast-paced, international environment. As an intern, you will have structured guidance to support your learning and development. We aim to create an environment where you can build practical skills, gain exposure to how HelloFresh operates, and learn through doing. The internship is suitable for students whose educational requirements allow them to complete an internship during the proposed period. WHAT YOU’LL DO: THE RECIPE * Managing ingredient and recipe swaps in response to availability changes, market conditions, and customer feedback — keeping our offering fresh and on-point. * Reviewing planned menus to drive variety, innovation, customer appeal, and create pairings for our addon modularity. * Breathe new life into recipes by testing new ingredients, supporting re-cook sessions, and helping ensure consistent quality across our range. * Analyze customer feedback to surface actionable insights, translating what our customers are saying into concrete improvements to our recipes and ingredients. * Apply your sensory skills by evaluating new and improved ingredients, contributing to the quality and taste standards our customers expect. * Manage day-to-day operations for HelloFresh Market — covering everything from ingredient availability and stock tracking to pricing updates, margin calculations, and competitor benchmarking. * Support both teams with ad-hoc analyses, tastings, and operational requests as they arise. WHAT YOU’LL BRING: THE INGREDIENTS * You are currently enrolled in an HBO/WO program, ideally with a background in business, food technology, or a related field. * A genuine enthusiasm for food, combined with comfort analyzing with data and drawing conclusions from it. * Strong organizational skills — you juggle multiple priorities without losing focus or attention to detail. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel) and/or Google Sheets; you're confident working with spreadsheets and aren't fazed by numbers. * A proactive mindset with a strong eagerness to learn. * An affinity for sensory evaluation is a plus. * Fluency in English; Dutch is a welcome bonus.
