You’ll lead office and select field tasks, ensure deliverable quality, and serve as a technical liaison between clients, field crews, and design teams. Ideally the candidate would be in Lubbock, Texas. Other areas to include Houston, Dallas, San Antonio. Day to day * Verify and process field survey data (measurements, calculations) and produce base surveys—surfaces/contours, utilities, site features, and boundaries. * Prepare CAD deliverables (ALTA/NSPS, boundary, topographic, site, construction staking plans) in Civil 3D with limited oversight. * Review field notes, perform QC on plats/drawings, and calculate stakeout (points, alignments, staking plots); prepare cut sheets. * Research and draft easements from title reports; review public records for boundary/easement and right-of-way determinations. * Coordinate with Project Managers and clients on scope, schedule, and priorities; support kickoff meetings and status updates. * Apply Atwell SOPs, state/local surveying standards, and client requirements; maintain organized project job books and documentation. * Mentor/guide project team members; assist with task assignment and review to meet budget, quality, and deadline targets. Requirements * Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Land Surveying/Geomatics (or equivalent experience). * Active survey license (PS/PLS/RLS) or ability to obtain per state requirements. * 5+ years’ progressive surveying experience under a licensed surveyor (8+ preferred). * Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and CAD drafting workflows for survey deliverables. * Experience with Trimble data collectors, GPS, robotic total stations, and Trimble Business Center (data processing/QA). * Strong working knowledge of construction layout, boundary retracement/legal principles, geodetic datums/coordinate systems/projections, and field-to-finish techniques. * Solid software skills: Microsoft Excel/Word, Bluebeam Revu; ArcGIS and Google Earth a plus. Oil & Gas/Energy experience we value * Pipeline routing and right-of-way surveys (OH/UG), valve sites, meter stations, and facility layout. * Construction staking and as-built surveys for pipelines, gathering systems, terminals, and compressor/pump stations. * Drill pad/well pad stakeout, centerlines, and grading/as-built verification for drilling programs. * Title/easement research for corridors; boundary control and monumentation across linear projects. * QA/QC of EPC design survey inputs; coordination with inspection, environmental, and drilling/construction teams. Nice to have * Trimble Access, ArcGIS, and experience with data management (photo logs, checklists, structured field data). * Familiarity with CO₂/RNG/hydrogen or electric T&D survey in addition to oil & gas corridors. * Client-facing communication experience and change-management awareness (scope, schedule, budget). You will be equipped with a highly collaborative team of office and field staff, and the autonomy to manage projects from start to finish in an entrepreneurial-style environment. Our diverse project scopes in residential/commercial land development and renewable energy will allow you to cross-market and grow your skill set. Responsibilities: * Collaborate and lead a team responsible for drafting, reviewing, and finalizing preliminary and final site plans and construction documents. * Review project survey data utilizing the latest technology and industry software. * Analyze existing site conditions and factors to consider for development including but not limited to legal descriptions, ALTA surveys, easement documents, and condo documents. * Plan, organize, and supervise survey crews, technicians, and office staff members. * Provide oversight on large-scale ALTA surveys as they pertain to solar, or wind power generation preferred. * Provide construction-related services and guide junior team members to complete items such as permit applications, cut sheets, quantity estimates, and transmittals; organize site plans, construction plans, construction sheet set-up and assembly and other related construction documents. * Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software packages to complete assignments on time and within prescribed standards and budgets. * Attend paid training and development events, industry conferences, and networking opportunities. * As a subject matter expert and mentor, you will assist with your staff's new hire training plan, career planning, and continuous professional development at Atwell. * Take pride in rewarding and motivating your staff with spot bonuses and Peer Recognition Rewards Qualifications: * Professional Survey License (PLS, PSM) * 8+ plus years of survey industry related work experience * Ability to coach, mentor, and develop a growing team. * Prior experience working with Trimble Business Center and AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred. * The ideal Project Manager will have advanced understanding of; Boundary Surveys, ALTA Surveys, Construction Staking, Leveling, Traversing, GPS, Data Collections, Legal Descriptions, Plan interpretations, along with Real Estate Documents #LI-RD1 Pay Range $100,000—$135,000 USD Atwell Benefits: To attract and retain the best professionals in the industry, we aim to provide an excellent working environment and a progressive benefits program designed to support your personal and professional needs.
