WHO WE ARE ABOUT STRIPE Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world's largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career. ABOUT THE TEAM The Seller Systems team is dedicated to empowering sellers and stakeholders at Stripe by streamlining and optimizing the selling process. This is a top priority for Stripe as it expands its enterprise revenue globally. We build tools and systems to make the end-to-end selling process across initial contact with customers, deal modeling, negotiation, approvals, contracting, onboarding, and activation absolutely world class. We treat this area as an engineering problem from first principles, implemented with a hybrid architecture of first-party-developed custom Stripe components interoperating with third-party standard business components. Our vision is to be able to offer a single plane of glass experience to our Sellers at Stripe, to allow them to leverage AI through workflows that allow them to minimize overhead and increase their time on increasingly efficient selling. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Staff Engineer in Seller Systems, you'll be a technical anchor for one of Stripe's highest-priority engineering investments—building the infrastructure that powers how Stripe sells to and wins customers globally. You'll own and drive multi-year technical strategy across a complex hybrid architecture of first-party Stripe systems and third-party platforms (including Salesforce), while directly shaping the seller experience across the full quote-to-cash lifecycle. You'll set the architectural direction and be a multiplier across teams—owning end-to-end technical decisions that span seller-facing workflows, core platform services, and integrations with Stripe's financial infrastructure. RESPONSIBILITIES • Architect and build scalable, reliable systems that underpin Stripe's sales motion, including APIs and services that support deal creation and modeling, multi-party approval workflows, contract generation, and merchant onboarding at global scale • Lead Stripe's "single plane of glass" vision for sellers—driving architectural decisions on how first-party Stripe components and third-party platforms (e.g., Salesforce) interoperate, and designing systems that surface the right data and actions to sellers at the right time • Integrate AI and agentic workflows into the selling process, identifying high-leverage opportunities to automate seller overhead—from intelligent deal recommendations and pricing guidance to automated contract workflows and proactive activation nudges • Partner cross-functionally at a senior level with Go-to-Market, Finance, Legal, and Product teams to deeply understand the selling process and translate business requirements into durable technical solutions that scale with Stripe's growth • Raise the technical bar across the team—conduct thorough design and code reviews, establish engineering standards and best practices, and create the conditions for senior and staff-adjacent engineers to do their best work • Drive simplification and platform consolidation—reduce complexity in Stripe's go-to-market systems stack, identify opportunities to consolidate overlapping tooling, and architect toward a maintainable, extensible platform that serves sellers reliably • Mentor and sponsor senior engineers, helping them grow in technical scope and organizational influence, and fostering a culture of ownership, craft, and collaboration across the Seller Systems team and beyond WHO YOU ARE We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • 10+ years experience building software systems, including both experience building user-facing products and internal platforms leveraged by other engineering teams • You have a user-first mindset • You care deeply about the product experience and the users who rely on the systems you build • You've set a multi-year technical strategy for an organization and successfully executed it • You work in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and have a curiosity to learn the domain to a deep level • You've mentored senior engineers and meaningfully empowered their growth • You thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility • You have strong collaboration skills to work effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders, and ship complex initiatives • You communicate complex technical topics exceptionally clearly PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Experience working in high-growth teams similar to Stripe • Knowledge of CRM platforms like Salesforce • Previous experience partnering with or supporting Go-to-Market (GTM) organizations, including Sales, Marketing, or Customer Success teams

Your work will have immediate, measurable impact across the company. This is a Stockholm-based, 5-day in-office role. We believe building together in person drives better outcomes in a fast-scaling environment. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING * Own and evolve our internal backoffice systems, including support tooling, admin interfaces, and operational platforms. * Design and implement automation workflows that eliminate manual processes and improve reliability across customer support and operations. * Build AI-powered internal tools that leverage LLMs and intelligent workflows to assist support agents, automate triage, surface insights, and improve response quality and speed. * Work with technologies such as React, Node.js, AWS, Azure, and Kubernetes, leveraging the right tools to solve complex challenges. * Architect and maintain integrations between third-party systems (CRM, ticketing platforms, billing systems, analytics tools, etc.) and our core product. * Develop scalable internal services and APIs that support operational needs while maintaining high standards for security, observability, and reliability. * Partner closely with Customer Enablement, Engineering and Product teams to deeply understand pain points and translate them into robust technical solutions. * Take end-to-end ownership from problem definition and system design to deployment, monitoring, and iteration. * Continuously identify opportunities to apply AI and automation to unlock efficiency gains across the organization. WHO YOU ARE * An experienced engineer who enjoys building systems that enable other teams to move faster and operate smarter. * Comfortable working across the stack, with strong backend fundamentals and a pragmatic approach to frontend and internal UX. * Experienced with APIs, integrations, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS/Azure, Kubernetes). * Excited about applying AI/LLMs in practical, production-grade workflows, especially in operational or support contexts. * Passionate about automation, system design, and reducing complexity through thoughtful engineering. * A proactive problem solver who thrives in fast-moving startup environments and enjoys owning systems end-to-end. * Motivated by impact, you care about building tools that directly improve how the company operates at scale.
