We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Backend/Infrastructure) for the VTEX Network team ,the core connective tissue of our
cloud platform: CDN, Cloud Connectivity, Ingress, DNS, and Service Mesh.
You'll take on one of our hardest engineering challenges: evolving our Service Mesh. Today VTEX runs a custom, highly performant
router (built in .NET) that acts as our service mesh, processing millions of requests per second as the backbone for every VTEX
application. Your mission is to help evolve this mission-critical infrastructure toward a market-standard stack (like Istio) with
zero downtime and the reliability thousands of stores depend on.
This sits at the deep intersection of software engineering and scalable infrastructure, and it rewards real care for performance,
resilience, and system architecture.
The Cloud Network team ensures the reliability, scalability, and performance of the platform that powers thousands of stores
worldwide. As part of a recent transformation, we're building a new generation of infrastructure systems: Service Mesh,
networking, and compute layers. Our goal is a platform where infrastructure complexity is abstracted away, so engineers move
faster without trading off reliability or performance.
stores globally;
judgment about where it does and doesn't belong in critical infrastructure;
in hiring.
you're at home troubleshooting them under pressure;
microservices communication;
for understanding and refactoring our current router; familiarity with Service Mesh (Istio, Envoy) is highly desired;
system, not just your component;
Our process is built for how engineers actually work in 2026: a take-home you complete with the AI tools you'd really use,
followed by a live session where we dig into your decisions and solve a problem together. We're far more interested in how you
think than in whether you memorized an algorithm.
