The Role
Support Engineer – End User Computing.
The End User Computing team look after all the technology used directly by humans in our organisation, such as the Windows and
Linux desktops and Windows server infrastructure (including active directory, application deployment, clustered enterprise
database systems, monitoring and automated build systems), audio-visual deployments, LAN, internet, and WiFi network environments
and a wide range of enterprise applications (including e-mail, third-party productivity tools, and finance-specific applications).
We exhibit special expertise in automation (predominantly in PowerShell, but also in python and other languages).
We currently operate 4 days a week in-office, 1 from home.

Onboarding Note
To set our new hire up for success, we envisage that you would need to spend significant chunks of time at our London HQ to
onboard with our existing team and learn how we approach end user computing. This could be a few months at the beginning, reducing
thereafter to less regular trips. Alternatively, this could be a few weeks at the start and regular periods (2 weeks in every 4)
thereafter. XTX would cover all associated costs.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES * Logging and solving support requests face-to-face & via ticketing system, L1&L2 support * Handling and maintaining Linux-based systems * Managing a fleet of servers, helping Hardware Lab teams with daily activities * Installing and troubleshooting servers, hardware maintenance, fault finding * Detailing solutions and maintaining a clear, up-to-date internal knowledge base ESSENTIAL * Excellent communication and customer service skills * Good understanding of troubleshooting principles and methodical problem-solving * Strong Linux administration skills in Debian & RedHat derivatives * Good networking skills such as VLANs, VPNs, Wi-Fi, routing, subnetting * Familiarity with desktop and server hardware, BMCs, Out-of-Band networks, firmware & BIOS upgrades, PDU, rack mounts * Managing Infrastructure-as-Code using Puppet, Ansible, or similar DESIRABLE * Experience with identifying network/storage/CPU/RAM bottlenecks across complex workloads * Experience with various monitoring solutions and stack (e.g. Zabbix/Prometheus/Grafana Mimir/Open Telemetry) * Experience in managing web servers, load-balancers, reverse-proxies (e.g.: ha-proxy, nginx) * Proficiency with containerisation frameworks and orchestration (e.g.: Docker/containerd/Kubernetes) * Python programming skills, with the ability to write code to interact with APIs, process data, and build small applications We welcome people of different backgrounds and experiences; we’re committed to building an inclusive work environment that makes Graphcore a great home for everyone. The Role XTX is seeking an experienced engineer to support our ML Performance and AI Acceleration function. You will be working in a small and highly technical team at extremely high- and low-levels of abstraction to dramatically increase the performance of XTX's training and inference platforms. The remit is wide, and you should expect to be challenged. We are not just writing CUDA code. Amongst other things, you will be working on a sophisticated optimising compiler for a variety of accelerated computing platforms. You should be proficient in memory hierarchies, degrees of parallelism, microarchitectural nuances on instruction dispatch rates and irregular bitwidth numerics. You will also be expected to assist in the design of novel hardware architectures for accelerating our models, mapping AI models from JAX graphs to transistors. Attributes You will be an experienced software engineer, likely in C/C++/Rust or a similar language. You will be confident solving complex algorithmic problems. In addition, the following experience would be of particular interest: * Understanding of, and some experience targeting, GPUs, TPUs, or similar hardware. * Some experience working with data-flow oriented compilers for AI or scientific computing. * Writing Linux kernel modules or other experience in OS development.
