The GTM AI Engineering team is part of Snowflake's Data Analytics & AI organization and builds the internal AI platform and
intelligent applications that power Snowflake's Go-To-Market organization. We develop production-grade AI systems used daily by
thousands of employees across Sales, Solution Engineering and Marketing.
As a Senior AI Engineer, you will build the backend services, platform infrastructure, and AI capabilities that power
next-generation agentic applications. You will work at the intersection of distributed systems, backend engineering, applied AI,
and internal product development, designing scalable, reliable, and secure systems that enable intelligent experiences with direct
business impact.

See our flagship product in action: Cortex Code in Action: Live Demos + AMA. Your work will directly impact how developers and businesses build with data. You'll own the full AI engineering lifecycle: design, prompt/tool engineering, evals, deployment, measurement, and optimization. You'll work with a small, high-powered modeling and infrastructure team. What you will do in this role: * Own features end-to-end for Snowflake Cortex Code products. Build agentic workflows, coding harnesses, evaluation pipelines. * Build enterprise-grade context engineering: function calling, tool schemas, guardrails, agent teams, and verification/repair. * Design evals and hillclimb : create golden sets, create rubrics and metrics, analyze errors, run experiments to hill climb on the metrics. * Partner with product and infra: translate customer problems into products and experiments. Collaborate with infrastructure teams to productionize improvements. * Work with an elite team of engineers towards building great products Requirements: * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics or a related field. Master’s or higher degree preferred but not a requirement. * 5+ years of experience shipping AI features in production. * Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Typescript, Go * Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. * (Optional) Experience working with data engineering pipelines (dbt, airflow), data modeling, data analysis, retrieval systems, and semantic layers is a plus. Nice to have: * Deep experience with agentic coding tools (e.g. IDE agents, CLI agents) and intuition for model strengths, failure modes, and prompting limits. * Background in data engineering (dbt, Airflow), data modeling, analytics, retrieval / RAG, or semantic layers — highly relevant for data-centric coding agents. * Prior work on eval harnesses, LLM observability, or safety / guardrails in production. You may be a particularly good fit if you: * Have built and owned complex systems — pipelines, orchestration, or software with substantial state, branching logic, and operational requirements. * Thrive in high-intensity environments with short feedback loops and high standards for rigor. * Take problems to completion independently: you don’t stop at a prototype; you care about production reliability and clear metrics. * Are a power user of modern coding agents and care about turning that intuition into systematic measurement and improvement. Our mission is to transform how the world’s largest enterprises interact with their data through flagship products like Snowflake Intelligence. As a Principal AI Engineer, you will be a technical North Star for our AI initiatives. You won't just execute on a roadmap; you will help define it. You will tackle the most complex, "frontier" problems in agentic reasoning, NL-to-SQL, and enterprise-scale RAG, ensuring our AI products are not only innovative but fundamentally reliable and scalable for the Fortune 500. WHAT YOU WILL DO IN THIS ROLE: * Technical Strategy & Architecture: Define the long-term technical vision for Snowflake Intelligence. Lead the architectural design of multi-agent systems, complex tool-use frameworks, and self-correcting NL-to-SQL engines. * Drive Industry-Leading Reliability: Move beyond simple evals to build world-class, automated "hill-climbing" infrastructure. We're looking for a senior Developer Relations leader to own how builders discover, adopt, and succeed with Snowflake's AI and Developer portfolio, and to build and lead a team of Developer Advocates doing that work. You'll set the developer point of view for an ambiguous, fast-moving product area, manage and grow a team of DAs, and stay technical enough to set the quality bar yourself. WHAT YOU'LL DO Own the developer strategy for AI & Developer tools * Shape the developer point of view for complex, emerging product areas; anticipate where builders get stuck and align on the adoption path. * Connect market shifts, developer behavior, customer demand, and Snowflake strategy to influence product direction. * Maintain full awareness of the AI and Developer landscape and be the voice of the developer internally. Set the technical and quality bar * Personally produce and review production-quality adoption assets reference apps, quickstarts, demos, deep-dive guides, talks that withstand customer, field, and launch scrutiny. * Establish reusable patterns and review systems that raise content quality and accuracy across the team. Drive launches and reusable adoption systems * Lead multi-team launch adoption motions for priority AI & Developer products: define day-0 builder readiness, success metrics, dependencies, and follow-on adoption work. * Build durable adoption infrastructure such as repos, quickstarts, demos, workshops, field kits, docs patterns, playbooks, and discoverability across human channels, docs, search, AI assistants, community, and partners so wins compound instead of resetting each launch. Close the loop between developers and product * Run durable developer-signal loops that synthesize community, field, support, docs, usage data, and launch learnings into product feedback. * Build developer signals as a first-class product input that changes the roadmap and adoption priorities. Represent Snowflake in the ecosystem * Build and sustain Snowflake's credibility in strategic developer and open-source communities as a community member. * Enable your team and Snowflake engineers to participate credibly in these communities. Lead and grow the team * Create clarity in ambiguity, define the work, surface tradeoffs, and make cross-functional execution easier across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Community and various field teams. * Set clear goals and operating rhythms; balance hands-on contribution with enabling your team to do their best work. * Manage, coach, and develop a team of Developer Advocates; own hiring, performance, growth, and career development against the DevRel ladder. WHAT YOU'LL BRING * 10+ years of experience in Developer Relations, Developer Advocacy, Developer Experience, or a closely related technical field, with a track record of driving measurable developer adoption. * 5+ years of leadership experience managing, mentoring, or formally leading technical/DevRel teams, with the judgment to hire and grow advocates. * Strong hands-on technical foundation: you can build and debug real demos and explain architecture tradeoffs to both builders and internal partners. * Working fluency with modern AI development: how LLMs work (prompting, grounding, evaluation), common patterns (RAG, tools/agents, function calling), and hands-on experience building with LLM APIs or agent frameworks (e.g., Snowflake Cortex, OpenAI, Anthropic, OSS models). * Solid grounding in data and analytics workflows (SQL, ELT/ETL, dbt, orchestration) and empathy for the day-to-day realities of data and engineering teams. * Excellent communication and storytelling able to turn complex AI and data concepts into clear narratives for technical and executive audiences. * Demonstrated cross-functional leadership: influencing senior stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Field, and Marketing, and turning ambiguous work into executable plans. * Comfort defining outcome-based metrics and using data plus qualitative signals to prioritize, iterate, and decide what to stop doing. NICE TO HAVE * Experience with Snowflake or other cloud data platforms. * Familiarity with the Snowflake developer ecosystem, such as Notebooks, Streamlit, Cortex Agents, CoCo, CoWork etc. * Recognized community standing committer/maintainer role, foundation/governance participation, or a sustained presence in strategic developer communities. * A history of building reusable adoption systems (reference architectures, diagnostic tools, workshop programs) and communities * Prior experience as a software, data, or ML/AI engineer.
