QuantWare is seeking an Experimental Quantum Engineer to join our growing Operations team. The mission of QuantWare’s Operations
team is to consistently deliver high quality quantum hardware and make advanced quantum technologies accessible to customers all
over the world.
Together with your colleague Experimental Quantum Engineers, you will be in charge of several state of the art cryogenic setups.
You’ll use these setups to perform advanced qubit measurements and guarantee the quality of all devices before they are shipped to
customers. Whenever you spot abnormalities, you’ll search for root causes and countermeasures, together with your colleagues from
Fabrication or Design. Product volume and complexity of our products increase - so the challenge is to stay one step ahead by
continuously improving our measurement setups, software and processes.

Our Quantum Processor Team is seeking excellent Quantum R&D Engineers to develop the next generation of processors. This role is focused on improving processor performance by developing, validating and iterating on-chip quantum components. You will take ownership of the end-to-end development cycle, creating designs, collaborating with our fabrication teams and performing cryogenic measurement to inform design iterations. These quantum components will be integrated in our large-scale QPUs. What you will be doing * Design & Simulate: Develop new and improved on-chip architectures that enhance processor performance. QphoX is looking for a Quantum Application Engineer to help push our microwave-to-optics conversion technology and its application to quantum computing to the next level. In this role, you will be part of a team focussing on the development of optical interconnects for control, readout and networking of quantum processors. As a Quantum Application Engineer, you will define and articulate the performance requirements of our products, develop experiments to quantify these requirements and demonstrate the performance of our technology both internally as well as with external partners and customers. You will be involved in: * Research and development of microwave-to-optics transducer technology * Development of optical signal delivery systems for high fidelity qubit control * Planning and executing experiments to demonstrate the performance and practicality of our products, including joint demonstrations with external partners, collaborators, and customers * Analysing, summarising, and presenting experimental results through reports, presentations, and technical discussions * Collaborating closely within a diverse, multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers Skills and knowledge you will bring to QphoX: * A masters (WO) in (applied) physics, photonics, or a related subject * 2-5 years of industry or applied research experience in one or more of the following: superconducting circuits, solid-state qubits, photonics, or a related subject * Proficiency in Python for instrumentation, data acquisition and data analysis * The ability to work collaboratively with inter-disciplinary teams * An organised and rigorous working style Our Ideal Candidate: Our ideal candidate is a passionate, hands-on experimentalist who enjoys translating technology from the lab into real-world applications. As a Quantum Design Engineer in our R&D team, you’ll be at the heart of advancing the performance and scalability of superconducting quantum processors. You’ll lead the design of next-generation qubit chips and modular, scalable QPU architecture, working from on-chip subsystem architecture to EM simulations, frequency allocation, crosstalk management, packaging, and interconnect strategies. You’ll also design and optimise nonreciprocal superconducting circuits, such as isolators and parametric amplifiers that will drive robust, high-fidelity readout chains. These designs will enhance readout signal-to-noise ratio and stability, feeding into our next-gen readout modules and ensuring seamless coupling with the qubit layer. This role is highly collaborative: you’ll work in a tight feedback loop with experimentalists and device engineers to transform measurement insights into rapid design iterations, pushing performance, coherence, yield, and manufacturability across the full qubit stack. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING * Design and simulate cutting-edge quantum hardware to improve performance, coherence, and scalability. * Develop high-performance, manufacturable device architectures that accelerate R&D cycles and increase qubit fidelity and yield. * Architect and optimize the layout of nonreciprocal superconducting circuits such as parametric amplifiers, targeting robust performance under cryogenic conditions. * Interpret simulation results and correlate with experimental data to guide iterative design improvements. * Collaborate across teams to ensure rapid design-to-test cycles, connecting theory with experiment. * Automate the design pipeline using Python, enabling parametric device generation, simulation sweeps, and data post-processing. YOUR PROFILE * MSc in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field, with 2+ years of industry experience or a PhD with relevant hands-on work * Strong Python skills for automating designs, controlling simulations, and analyzing data * Experience with EM simulation and chip design tools (e.g. Ansys HFSS-Q3D, KLayout); Git and Qiskit-Metal familiarity is a plus * Knowledge of cQED devices and superconducting circuit design is a strong advantage * Experience designing nonreciprocal superconducting circuits (e.g. parametric amplifiers) or advanced readout techniques is highly valued * Solid grasp of microwave engineering, quantum noise sources, and fabrication methods Don't tick every box?
