the Accounts Payable processes, starting at the receipt of the purchase invoice and ending with the payment. You will maintain

We're looking for an experienced Finance Assistant to join our COFRA team in Porto. You will join a multi-generational family business with a commitment to achieve systemic change across Liveable Cities, Responsible Capital, Clean Energy and Sustainable Food together with our management teams and mission-aligned external partners. About the role The Finance Assistant supports the UK finance function by ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, maintaining robust records, and assisting with compliance requirements. The role focuses on operational excellence, reliability, and attention to detail, contributing to the smooth running of the finance team. Key responsibilities include: Accounts Payable & Receivable * Process supplier and customer invoices accurately and in a timely manner. * Assist with raising and posting customer invoices. * Allocate receipts and maintain accurate customer records. * Reconcile supplier and customer ledgers and investigate discrepancies. * Support monitoring of receivables and follow up on outstanding balances. Payments & Expenses * Assist in preparing weekly payment runs in line with approval processes. * Process employee expenses in accordance with company policies. * Maintain accurate payment records and supporting documentation. Reconciliations * Perform weekly bank reconciliations ensuring completeness and accuracy. * Investigate and flag discrepancies where required. Other finance administration * Prepare and upload monthly journals for review. * Maintain schedules, summaries, and financial documentation. * Ensure transactions are correctly recorded and filed. * Support monthly reporting activities. * Provide general finance administration support across the team. * Assist with ad hoc requests and projects. VAT compliance support * Assist in the preparation of VAT returns and supporting schedules. * Ensure documentation is accurate and audit-ready. What You Bring * 4–5 years of relevant experience in a finance or accounting role. * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience. * Strong bookkeeping and accounting knowledge. * Experience with accounting systems such as Sage. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel). * High attention to detail and strong organisational skills. * Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines. * Strong communication skills and a proactive, reliable mindset. YOUR MISSION Position Summary We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Assistant to join our Finance team. In this role, you will support the day-to-day accounting and finance operations by processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate master data, and ensuring the integrity of accounting records. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in finance within an international and collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities: * Support the daily accounting and finance operations. * Support supplier invoices using SAP Business One (SAP B1). * Review, verify, and process employee travel and expense claims in accordance with company policies. * Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies. * Create and maintain vendor and customer master data in SAP Business One. * Support and maintain cost centers and other financial master data. * Assist with month-end closing activities and support the preparation of financial reports. * Ensure accounting records are accurate, and properly documented. * Liaise with internal departments to resolve invoice issues, payments. * Support internal and external audits by preparing the required documentation. * Contribute to the continuous improvement of finance processes and procedures. YOUR PROFILE Qualifications & Experience: * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. * 1–2 years of experience in an accounting or finance support role is preferred. Recent graduates with relevant internships are also encouraged to apply. * Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes. * Experience working with SAP Business One (SAP B1) is highly desirable. * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. * Good communication and interpersonal skills. * Proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and a team-oriented mindset.
