This function will be responsible for International Tax Reporting, as it pertains to our international entities and users, to
include scoping the tax reporting requirements of new tax authority reporting regimes, supporting management of tax reporting to
local Tax Authorities, audits and other international reporting tax matters with local Tax Authorities, working with our internal
systems and technology leads on day-to-day matters, and much more.
You'll be able to work well with cross-functional teams. You must be able to communicate and promote international reporting tax
advisory needs across Stripe and its subsidiaries, and communicate complex tax requirements in ways that are meaningful and useful
to non-tax professionals. You'll be able to work with a high level of collegiality, working on projects spanning multiple teams.

ABOUT THE TEAM The Tax team is focused on building the most tech-advanced tax department in the industry, leveraging automation, custom engineering, and real-time data to maintain a competitive advantage. The Tax Technology Lead serves as the lead architect for the Tax team's digital transformation, reporting to the Head of Tax. This role accelerates technology adoption to transition Tax into a high-velocity, tech-first department, bridging the gap between the Tax team's subject matter experts and internal and external technology resources. WHAT YOU’LL DO In this role, your primary mandate is to accelerate technology adoption and drive the Tax team's transformation into the most tech-forward tax department in the industry. You'll focus on four strategic areas. * Reduce time to value for emerging technologies, including generative AI, LLMs, and cloud-native tax engines. * Address technical debt by systematically phasing out legacy processes in favor of scalable, code-based solutions. * Instill a developer mindset within the Tax team, establishing version control (GitHub), automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines. * Maintain the department as the internal and external benchmark for financial technology through rapid experimentation and execution. RESPONSIBILITIES * Refine the Tax team's strategic technology roadmap and develop a multi-year execution plan, defining key objectives, milestones, and initiatives to drive long-term success. Run "art of the possible" and strategy sessions to ensure the Tax team considers all technology possibilities when problem-solving. * Lead and arrange training for Tax team members to strengthen their proficiency in and adoption of technology solutions, advancing the goal of building the most tech-forward tax department. * Act as a player-coach to architect complex systems and lead tax engineers in building proprietary APIs to bridge global financial systems. Partner with and guide Tax team stakeholders to develop practical, actionable tax requirements that balance technical accuracy with the pace of technology development and adoption. * Lead interactions with internal and external resources focused on delivering against the tax technology roadmap. Hold internal and external resources accountable for delivering to the Tax team. Optimize and be accountable for internal and external resources delivering the best product on time and within budget. * Collaborate with engineering stakeholders to build a robust, real-time Tax Data Warehouse, ensuring global visibility into tax liabilities. * Serve as the technical bridge to integrate tax logic into Stripe's foundational infrastructure in a scalable and robust way. * Replace manual compliance processes with automated monitoring and algorithmic anomaly detection. We're looking for a well-rounded and seasoned tax professional to help us lead this effort. WHAT YOU'LL DO Reporting into the Tax Counsel function, you'll serve as a deep subject matter expert on the tax and regulatory complexities of employee benefits, executive compensation, and global equity programs. You'll play a central part in structuring tax-efficient compensation arrangements and ensuring rigorous compliance across domestic and international jurisdictions. RESPONSIBILITIES * Serve as a trusted in-house advisor to Tax, Finance, Legal, Equity, and People partners on all aspects of employee benefits and compensation tax issues, including U.S. and cross-border tax matters related to equity and cash incentive compensation plans, Section 409A, restricted stock units, stock options, and deferred compensation programs * Provide tax advisory support on corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, financing transactions, joint ventures, and corporate restructurings—evaluate and manage the impacts on compensation and equity programs and employee taxation * Perform analysis to develop and document tax positions related to corporate transactions and equity and compensation initiatives undertaken by the company * Act as a cross-functional resource for internal stakeholders navigating tax questions relating to employee compensation and benefits matters, and support project implementation compliant with U.S. and foreign tax and regulatory requirements * Develop and implement policies and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance of employee compensation and benefits plans with relevant U.S. domestic and foreign tax requirements * Provide tax technical support for external audits related to equity and compensation, and collaborate with external advisors globally to evaluate equity and compensation tax impacts of corporate transactions and company initiatives * Support compensation-related corporate governance matters and disclosures, including executive compensation rules and disclosure requirements WHO YOU ARE We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. We're looking for an experienced financial controller to join our International Accounting team. As a key part of our controllership team in Dublin, you will help us build our technical accounting and financial reporting processes, work with business partners, financial partners, external stakeholders, and our engineers. You will help us develop best-in-class accounting processes and help track our progress within a fast-paced environment that's growing globally. What you'll do As our International Accounting Lead, you will own the end-to-end financial close and statutory reporting processes for our international entities, while leading and developing a high-performing controllership team. You will serve as a technical accounting authority and strategic partner to cross-functional teams across Tax, Treasury, Finance, and Legal. Responsibilities * Lead the end-to-end monthly close of US GAAP books, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness * Oversee the preparation and submission of comprehensive regulatory and financial reporting deliverables * Lead financial statement preparation, audit support, and technical documentation, including presentations to the Board of Directors * Proactively monitor and adapt to changes in global accounting and tax regulations to maintain compliance * Oversee and support the preparation of direct and indirect tax returns * Mentor, guide, and manage the professional development of a high-performing controllership team * Partner with Tax, Transfer Pricing, Treasury, Finance and Strategy, and Legal teams on strategic projects * Develop a deep understanding of the company's transactions and contracts to advise cross-functional teams effectively * Oversee and optimise relationships with finance outsourcing vendors and auditors * Maintain fluency in US GAAP and IFRS/FRS102, researching complex accounting issues and producing clear technical accounting memos * Evaluate, recommend, and implement AI solutions to drive measurable process improvements across teams Who you are We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role.
