About Brave Brave is on a mission to protect the human right to privacy online. We’ve built a free web browser that blocks creepy ads and trackers by default, a private search engine with a truly independent index, a private ad network (opt-in!) that directly rewards you for your attention, and a browser-native AI integration focused on keeping private data private. And we’re just getting started. Already 110 million people have switched to Brave for a faster, more private web. Millions more switch every month. The internet is a sea of ads, hackers, and echo chambers. Big Tech makes huge profits off our data, and tells us what’s true and what’s not. Brave is fighting back. Join us! The Browser AI team are building core browser features, and exploring new ideas about how the personal nature of the browser can help create the best AI experience for research and creative tasks. Brave allows the user to attach tabs, history, bookmarks and files to AI conversations. Brave also allows the user to experiment with AI joining in with its own web browsing. We’re looking for a new team member capable of iterating these ideas and creating beautiful user experiences for these features. UI engineers will often work with other engineers to create the end-to-end features, or develop the skills necessary to implement the entire feature themselves. Brave has an exciting UI engineering culture. We share knowledge and patterns across both teams and disciplines, overlapping closely with designers. We work with internal design systems, multiple UI frameworks, and make effective decisions on these features as a team. This role is at an exciting intersection between web UI, web browser internals, and AI possibilities. Brave is a start-up, and we have the ability to change plans quickly in response to new information or circumstances. This means that new needs can emerge on short notice, and projects are often re-mixed and adjusted in response to new input. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to influence those choices and other areas of the team. Many engineers in this role at Brave start from a frontend or full-stack background and grow into browser-level C++ feature work over time. RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE: * Implementing browser-integrated Web UI (e.g. AI conversations, browser settings, new tab page) using Typescript, JavaScript, HTML and CSS with React as well as other frameworks such as Web Components, Svelte and Lit * Working with our product development team to collaborate on designs and specs and bring them to life on Brave’s desktop and mobile browsers * Integrating with custom browser APIs using Chromium’s communications frameworks. * Helping to customize the native UI provided by Chromium to add new product features and modify existing features. These UI elements include toolbars, modals, buttons, and more * Delivering code which is well tested with high confidence * Working alongside and learn from our experienced Chromium engineers - helping with peer reviews and helping improve our engineering processes REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: * Strong skills building complex web apps with state management * Deep knowledge of a Javascript UI framework such as React, Svelte, Vue, or native Web Components * Proven expertise with CSS for building UI * Commitment to various UI accessibility and localization techniques * C++ expertise or experience with Chromium is required * Understanding of performance impact and how both to measure and make improvements PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: * Working with and graspine large code repositories * AI coding tools * Knowledge of how LLMs and their associated tools and APIs work WORKING AT BRAVE * Industry-leader in privacy, with a research and engineering team that’s innovating everyday to keep people safer online and beat Big Tech * Highly competitive salaries & benefits, and generous home-office stipends * Fully remote team (no office, no commute) * Minimal meetings * Welcoming, humble, ridiculously smart teammates, and a truly flat org structure * Opportunity to get in early at a hyper-growth company, and revolutionize the web * Oh, and did we mention Brendan, our CEO & co-founder, invented JavaScript? ABOUT US STARK is a new kind of defence technology company revolutionizing the way autonomous systems are deployed across multiple domains. We design, develop and manufacture high performance unmanned aerial and terrestrial systems that are software-defined, mass-scalable, and cost effective. This provides our operators with a decisive edge in highly contested environments. We’re focused on delivering deployable, high-performance systems—not future promises. In a time of rising threats, STARK is bolstering the technological edge of NATO Allies and their Partners to deter aggression and defend Europe—today. YOUR MISSION We're not looking for someone who executes a spec. We're looking for someone who becomes the spec. Hand this person a napkin sketch, a rough idea, or a "we need something that can do X" — and they come back with a flying prototype, not a slide deck explaining why it's hard. This role exists for the person who's been building things in a garage, a workshop, or a shed for years because they couldn't not — and who's ready to point that obsession at Europe's defence capability instead of the next hobby build. RESPONSIBILITIES * Take a concept from clean sheet to flying hardware — concept, design, fabrication, integration, first flight — with minimal hand-holding. * Set the technical approach when working across disciplines, and resolve design conflicts directly instead of escalating them. * Run field flight test campaigns: own the go/no-go call, diagnose failures fast, and decide whether it's a fix or a redesign. * Turn "I just know how to do this" knowledge into documentation other engineers can actually build from. * Unblock and mentor junior and mid-level engineers in design reviews and builds — no management title required. * Flag technical, schedule, or process risk before anyone asks — silence isn't a strategy here. * Iterate fast on field and test data without waiting for a retro to tell you what broke. QUALIFICATIONS * A track record of owning a full build cycle — concept to flight-tested prototype — independently, on at least one UAV/UGV or comparable platform. * Deep, hands-on experience with composites, mechanical assemblies, robotics, and embedded hardware — earned in a workshop, not from a manual. * Sound judgment under ambiguity and time pressure: you know what's good-enough-to-test versus good-enough-to-deploy without being told. * Strong independent root-cause diagnosis — you can stare at a cracked airframe or a bad flight log and get to a fix without senior sign-off. * Experience working across engineering disciplines and resolving competing technical requirements yourself. * A demonstrated instinct for mentoring or technically leading others, even informally. * A portfolio that proves it: personal builds, competition entries, workshop projects — anything that shows you've been engineering as a calling, not just a job, during and after hours. NICE TO HAVE * Active A2/A3 drone pilot certification or equivalent national licence. * CAD fluency (Fusion 360, SolidWorks) strong enough to set standards for others, not just finish your own files. * Debugging-level familiarity with flight controller ecosystems (PX4, ArduPilot, Betaflight) — not just configuration. * Fixed-wing experience, not just multirotor. * A background in competition, motorsport, or maker culture that grew into leading a build or owning a program end-to-end. If you´re interested in building the future of European Defence with us, and you see yourself reflected on the description above, please send us your Portfolio & CV in English. We´re looking forward to meeting you!
