As the Lead Commissioning Manager, you will be pivotal in overseeing the safe, timely, and efficient design, installation, and commissioning of critical systems and IT infrastructure within data centre environments. This challenging position requires excellent leadership and organisational skills to manage services on and off-site, providing direction to Project Managers, Supervisors, and various sub-contractors as needed.

The position works closely with multidisciplinary teams including engineering, construction, and controls to ensure systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements. The individual will play a key role in driving system readiness, performance, and successful project turnover. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Lead electrical commissioning activities across all project phases, from design review through energization, testing, and final handover. * Review electrical designs, one-line diagrams, specifications, and control schematics to ensure systems are commissionable and aligned with project requirements. * Plan and coordinate installation verification, pre-functional checks, energization, and functional testing for electrical systems. * Oversee QA/QC walkdowns to confirm installation quality and readiness for commissioning. * Lead and manage safe energization of electrical systems including switchgear, transformers, UPS, and distribution networks. * Coordinate closely with mechanical, controls/BMS, and construction teams to ensure system integration and readiness. * Develop and manage electrical commissioning procedures, checklists, and test scripts. * Identify, track, and drive resolution of commissioning issues through to closure. * Utilize commissioning tools and platforms to monitor system status, readiness, and progress against project schedules. * Lead commissioning meetings and provide clear reporting on electrical system readiness, risks, and progress. * Ensure all electrical systems meet design intent, safety requirements, and client performance expectations prior to handover. * Support system turnover including documentation completion, as-built verification, and client handover requirements. * Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to commissioning engineers and technicians. * Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, including strict adherence to LOTO, arc flash, and energization procedures. * Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role. SKILLS REQUIRED: * Strong knowledge of electrical power systems including switchgear, transformers, UPS, and distribution systems. * Proven experience leading commissioning activities within mission-critical or large-scale construction environments. * Ability to review and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, and control schematics. * Strong understanding of commissioning processes including pre-functional, functional, and integrated testing. * Experience managing energization procedures and working in high-risk electrical environments. * Proficiency with commissioning tools and platforms for tracking system readiness and issue resolution. * Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills. * Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to drive issues through to resolution. * High attention to detail with strong documentation and reporting capabilities. * Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance with industry standards. EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred. * OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred. * NETA certification preferred. * Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. * Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable. The individual will provide technical leadership to drive commissioning readiness, quality compliance, and successful project delivery. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Lead electrical commissioning activities across all project phases, from design review through startup, functional testing, integrated systems testing, and final handover. * Review Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings, electrical specifications, one-line diagrams, shop drawings, and sequences of operation to support commissioning readiness. * Develop and execute electrical commissioning plans, procedures, pre-functional checklists, functional test scripts, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) procedures. * Coordinate commissioning activities with owners, construction management teams, engineering, subcontractors, OEMs, and commissioning stakeholders. * Lead installation verification and QA/QC walkdowns to confirm systems are installed in accordance with project specifications and approved drawings. * Perform quality inspections of switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, generators, PDUs, RPPs, busway, MCCs, panelboards, protective relays, grounding systems, and associated electrical infrastructure. * Witness and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), pre-functional inspections, energization activities, functional performance testing, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST). * Verify electrical installations including cable routing, terminations, torque verification, insulation resistance testing, grounding continuity, labeling, and asset tagging. * Validate breaker settings, protective relay coordination, alarms, interlocks, failover sequences, control logic, and system integration prior to turnover. * Support electrical startup, energization planning, switching activities, load bank testing, and system restoration while maintaining strict adherence to safety requirements. * Identify, document, and drive resolution of commissioning deficiencies, punch list items, and non-conformance reports (NCRs) through final closeout. * Verify corrective actions and conduct re-inspections to ensure compliance with project quality requirements. * Maintain commissioning documentation including inspection reports, test records, issue logs, turnover packages, and final commissioning reports. * Utilize commissioning management platforms and document control systems to monitor system readiness, testing progress, and KPI performance. * Ensure compliance with project specifications, NFPA, NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, NETA, owner standards, and applicable Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements. * Lead commissioning coordination meetings and provide regular updates on system readiness, commissioning progress, quality metrics, risks, and schedule impacts. * Support owner acceptance, turnover documentation, and training activities for facility operations teams. * Mentor commissioning engineers and technicians while promoting commissioning best practices and continuous improvement. * Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with LOTO procedures, energized electrical work practices, and site EH&S requirements. * Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role. SKILLS REQUIRED: * Strong knowledge of electrical commissioning processes within mission-critical, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or industrial facilities. * Experience commissioning medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems including switchgear, UPS systems, generators, transformers, MCCs, PDUs, RPPs, and protective relays. * Strong understanding of QA/QC principles, inspection processes, and electrical construction quality standards. * Experience leading FAT, SAT, pre-functional inspections, functional testing, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST). * Ability to interpret electrical one-line diagrams, control schematics, IFC drawings, specifications, and sequences of operation. * Knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E, IEEE, NETA, and industry commissioning standards. * Experience with commissioning software platforms, issue tracking systems, and document control applications. * Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root cause analysis skills. * Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management capabilities. * Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple commissioning activities simultaneously. * Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Ensure that engineering is developed with complete information and/or that all multidisciplinary information has been included. Lead development of new solutions for complex projects and challenges. Drive completion of all engineering activities on the project. Provide technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning activities. Prepare project documents in your area of responsibility and deliver within budget, scope, and contract. Ensure adherence to safety standards and mitigation of potential risks. Ensure technical quality in contracts, other documents, and delivery. Your background You have an academic degree in Engineering (for example Electrical engineering or another similar area). 5+ years of experience in similar lead role is required. Experience working with HVDC technology is a big plus, but not a requirement. As a person, you are communicative, collaborative, and not afraid to take on difficult conversations. Ability to take a leading role and deliver quality results. Fluency in English, both verbally and in writing, is required. Other languages are a great advantage.
