YOUR MISSION Be part of aviation history at VÆRIDION, where we’re pioneering the world’s first electric nine-seater aircraft! As a (Senior) Manufacturing Engineer (all genders), you'll play a pivotal role in the development, optimization and scaling of various manufacturing processes, workflows, and the tooling required for the successful production of our high-voltage aircraft battery propulsion system. You’ll work closely alongside cross-functional teams, including design, testing, and operations, to ensure that the manufacturing of our battery module/pack is safe, efficient, and compliant with aerospace standards. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY * Manufacturing Process Development: * Design, optimize and validate manufacturing processes for battery module and pack assembly. * Collaborate with design to ensure manufacturability, scalability and robustness of the product. * Ensure process compliance to aerospace manufacturing and quality standards whilst adhering to local safety regulations. * Create and maintain relevant documentation including process description documents, work instructions/operating procedures and training materials for the team. * Manufacturing Capability Development: * Specify and lead the implementation of specialised production equipment, including automation systems. * Develop and maintain workstations, and tooling to support safe and efficient operations. * Ensure that all equipment and the facility infrastructure is functional, compliant, and ready for production. * Support the gradual transition from manual assembly to semi- and fully automated production lines. * Plan facility upgrades with a focus on layout, workflow optimization, scalability, equipment integration while adhering to safety regulations. * Support and Best Practices: * Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for process-related issues. * Drive continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. * Handle ad-hoc engineering projects with flexibility and a problem-solving mindset. * Promote and uphold a culture of safety acrossall teams. YOUR PROFILE * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. * Proven experience in Manufacturing Engineering, preferably in battery systems or aerospace components. * Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, process validation, and equipment integration. * Ability to work hands-on in a dynamic production environment. * Familiarity with high-voltage systems, thermal management, and battery safety protocols. * Experience with CAD tools and manufacturing documentation systems. * Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and quality control systems. * Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, organize, and execute multiple projects simultaneously within defined timelines. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective. collaboration with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, equipment vendors, and contractors. * A driven, proactive individual who thrives on challenging assumptions. * Goal-oriented and innovative, with a deep passion for advancing technology. * Fluent in English, German Skills are a Plus. YOUR MISSION Join VÆRIDION on our groundbreaking journey to develop the world’s first electric 9-seater aircraft. As a HiL Test Engineer (all genders), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the VÆRIDION Microliner by integrating and testing the electronic control units of our electric propulsion system, with a primary focus on the Battery Management System (BMS). You will lead the development and management of HiL and Power HiL test rigs at our test facilities while executing critical test campaigns for R&D and certification. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY * Test Execution: * Manage the entire test process, from request to final report. * Collaborate with design engineers to assess test requirements. * Execute tests and deliver reliable, insightful reports. * Test Asset Ownership: * Oversee multiple test assets, ensuring readiness, safety, and calibration. * Optimize asset schedules for maximum testing efficiency. * Partner with engineers and technicians to set up and execute test campaigns. * Rig Development: * Design and develop HiL and Power HiL test rigs in coordination with support teams and suppliers. * Create software solutions for test rigs focused on electric motor, battery, and system integration. * Work closely with software, mechanical, and electrical specialists to innovate test solutions. * Support and Best Practices: * Foster a strong safety culture within our test facilities. * Establish and maintain best practices to ensure operational excellence. * Tackle ad-hoc projects and tasks with enthusiasm and adaptability. YOUR PROFILE * Degree in Aerospace, Computer, Software, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering (or a related field). * 3+ years of professional experience in real-time simulation labs. * Expertise in developing HiL and Power HiL rigs is essential. * Proficiency with test rig systems and software like Matlab/Simulink, National Instruments, or Speedgoat is critical. * Knowledge of Battery Management Systems is highly desirable. * Experience with aerospace standards such as DO-178 is desirable. * Familiarity with high-voltage components and aircraft integration labs is a plus. * Proactive, driven, and unafraid to challenge the status quo. * Comfortable working with incomplete requirements and anticipating needs. * Self-reliant, adaptable, and an excellent team player. * Strong problem-solving skills and a goal-oriented mindset. * Fluent in English; German or other languages are a Plus. ADDITIVE ENGINEERING INTERNSHIP (FALL 2026) Freeform builds AI-native manufacturing systems that unify software, hardware, and physics to produce industrial-scale parts at the speed of human ideation. By treating manufacturing as a single integrated system, we unlock a new era of innovation where complex hardware is designed, built, and scaled without limits. As an Additive Engineering Intern at Freeform, you will contribute to the development and scaling of our advanced metal 3D printing processes, including design for additive manufacturing (DFAM) feedback, print file preparation, toolpath automation, part quality analysis, and end-to-end process improvement. You will work closely with mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing engineers to support all stages of print development for high-volume production. Interns at Freeform own meaningful cradle-to-grave projects. Using first-principles thinking, you will help define test methods, evaluate solutions, iterate quickly, and synthesize information from engineering drawings, in-situ machine data, post-processing results, and inspection data to draw conclusions that improve printing and downstream machining processes. 3D printing experience is not required to be successful here - we look for smart, motivated, collaborative engineers who love solving hard problems and creating amazing technology! Responsibilities: * Own a cradle to grave project that delivers meaningful impact to critical print factory capabilities or customer print workflows * Support all stages of print development including design for additive manufacturing feedback, file preparation, printing, post-processing, and quality control * Analyze in-situ data and post-print part quality to drive continuous improvement in system performance * Use first-principles thinking to define problems, develop test methods, evaluate solutions, iterate, and provide technical recommendations Basic Qualifications: * Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an ABET accredited university or college * Hands on design experience from internships or engineering clubs such as FSAE, Baja SAE, solar car, rocket club, robotics club, or similar * Strong grasp of mechanical engineering fundamentals and comfortable taking a first-principles approach to solving problems Nice to Have: * Advanced degree (Master's, PhD) in mechanical or aerospace engineering * Experience with metal 3D printing or additive manufacturing processes * Experience with process development for metal additive manufacturing * Scripting experience in MATLAB or similar tools for toolpath generation * Experience with DFM and GD&T * Experience with CNC machining * Passion for improving the state of metal 3D printing * Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and iterating quickly (comfortable building the plane as we fly it) * Strong communicator who collaborates across disciplines and proactively seeks support when needed * Willing to take ownership of tasks big and small, with a hands-on, problem-solving mindset * Strong work ethic with a refuse-to-fail mindset * Demonstrated indicators of excellence and/or achieving success against adversity (i.e. top academic performance, leadership in engineering clubs, first-generation college student, or other examples of resilience and achievement) Location: * Based in Hawthorne, our vertically integrated facility brings technology development, R&D, and production together under one roof.
