Monumental is automating on-site construction with robotics and software. Our mission is to make construction software-defined and autonomous - a future where beautiful, bespoke buildings go up in a single day, with minimal labour. We're a growing team of engineers, operators and technicians from companies like Palantir, Qualcomm, Dyson, Shopify, Tesla, Meta and Google DeepMind. It's still the early days of building the company, and this is a chance to make an outsized impact on a problem that matters. From day one, you’ll be working with an experienced founding team backed, backed by a $32M Series B led by Khosla Ventures and Plural. You'll be part of our founding US team - pilots are on the way as we expand into the market, with facilities to follow. To get you started, we'll cover travel and accommodation for a few weeks of onboarding at Monumental HQ, in the city centre of Amsterdam - a beautiful facility with an in-house workshop and robot testing floor. We're explicitly not a hybrid or remote-first company - you can't build robots or walls from home, so we're onsite five days a week. Read more on why we believe you should spend your time working on construction, and learn about our vision and company. You might enjoy Based in Europe’s film on how we’re fixing Europe’s housing shortage, or this video by Andreas Klinger of what our office looks like. About the role We're looking for an entrepreneurial operator. You'll sit at the front line of our commercial engine. This is our first commercial hire in the US. You'll be on the ground, opening a brand-new market from scratch as we expand beyond Europe. Monumental is unique in that we're completely vertically-integrated. We design and build our own hardware and software, we manufacture the robots in-house, and we deploy them on construction sites ourselves, with our own team, operating as a subcontractor. Your job is not just to "book meetings" or "support sales", your job is to help build repeatable commercial momentum in a project-based industry that doesn't change easily. We build cutting-edge technology, but we sell the old-fashioned way: by showing up, walking the site, and earning trust in person. If you're looking for a remote-first sales role, this isn't it. Construction rewards presence, not polished slides. You'll work closely with our Deployment leadership, Country Managers and founders to identify the right customers, open doors, qualify real opportunities and scope the technical achievability, and move them forward toward live deployments. We call this role GTM, not because it's trendy, but because in construction, "sales" only works when go-to-market, operations, and delivery actually line up. You'll spend time on calls, site visits, and internal coordination with our forward deployed engineers. You'll learn how construction projects are actually sold, how decisions are made, and how our technology fits into real-world projects. We are unable to support relocation or sponsorship for this role. Applicants must be based in the US, eligible to work willing for frequent travel between the US and the Netherlands. What you'll do * Figure out how to go from small construction pilot deployments to ongoing commercial deployments, and then scale to multiple concurrent deployments. We expect you to act as the initial Deployment Manager in the US so you can build up enough tacit knowledge before scaling up. * Ensure there is always more than sufficient demand for our product. Our sales tends to be low-lift work, but you should still be excellent at it and always have the feeling that you're short on supply to meet the demand you've generated. * Hire, onboard, and manage a local team of robot and deployment operators that will operate our robots and other tasks on construction sites. We're planning to seed the US team with members from our Dutch team so you can hit the ground running and more easily bootstrap Monumental's unique culture in a new location. * Manage our fleet of robots and, with the rest of the HQ team, figure out how to manage a remote fleet across the Atlantic. * Set up whatever local facilities will be needed in the US, from a small office to a potential storage or maintenance hub. * Stand up the required legal structure for us to operate and scale in the US. This includes setting up local entities, navigating state and federal employment law, and all other relevant regulation. You're comfortable navigating complicated questions that involve new technology in old industries, liaising with the right counsel when needed. What we’re looking for * Minimum of 6 years of experience in a chaotic, entrepreneurial, high-growth, unstructured environment. This could be as a startup founder, GM, sales, operations, business development or a similar area where you've seen rapid growth, and where we don't need to explain to you why grit and resilience are important character traits for this role. * A strong bias-to-action and getting-shit-done mentality with the required tenacity and speed. The emphasis of this role is execution, not making decks. * You're able to context switch from strategic work to very practical work throughout the day, and nothing feels beneath you. There will be days where in the morning you're literally getting your feet dirty, helping carry mortar on a construction site, while interviewing senior candidates in the afternoon. * A strong strategic business sense. You have proven experience doing sales, pricing, negotiations, and account management. You're comfortable being responsible for the P&L of your deployments and the entire US operation. * You're an excellent communicator. You need to be comfortable chatting with people from all over the construction industry, from billionaire real estate developers to junior tradesmen on the construction site. * You have experience hiring and managing a team and you understand the importance of filtering for and instilling the right culture. You'll be responsible for hiring the initial team in the US. * Raw intellectual horsepower and eagerness to learn. We expect this role to have a steep learning curve whatever your background, and this role might in practice feel like a completely new job every 3-6 months. * Willingness for frequent travel between the US and the Netherlands. We expect you to spend a significant amount of time in the Netherlands in the first 3-6 months for onboarding and immersion, and then likely some travel cadence after. * A child-like excitement and optimism to be building the future, with robots, that will build houses for people to live in. Why Monumental? Joining Monumental means being at the forefront of a movement aimed at making significant strides in the construction industry. Here, your work has the potential to impact not just the company but the future of how we build. If you're driven by innovation, eager to tackle complex challenges, and ready to make a tangible difference, we want to hear from you. For open applications (where you don’t see an exact role match), please reach out to us at: iwanttojoin@monumental.co - share with us the most interesting or challenging project you’ve worked on, why you want to join and your CV or portfolio. Unfortunately we do not currently support internships. If you don’t meet all the qualifications here but are excited about Monumental and feel you’d still be able to help us solve difficult problems, do get in touch. We welcome generalists who focus on outcomes and are eager to learn on the job.
ABOUT US Humaans is building the next generation of infrastructure for the workplace; software designed for companies that are scaling fast, operating globally, and pushing into new boundaries. What started as a system of record has evolved into a broader platform for operating people globally. With Athena, our agentic AI layer, Humaans moves beyond data management into intelligent orchestration, connecting workflows across HR, IT, Finance, and Operations so organisations can act faster and with greater confidence, redefining how work gets done. We work with ambitious teams across Europe and the US, from AI-native companies like Lovable, Poolside, Fyxer AI, and Tandem Health, to established, high-growth organisations scaling internationally and through acquisition, including Quantexa, Sellpy, Manychat, Gigs, Croud, and Threecolts. These teams don’t buy software for features, they buy leverage. The ability to run faster, cleaner, and with more control as complexity compounds. To date, we’ve raised $20m in venture funding from some of the most respected founders, operators, and funds in technology: Lachy Groom (Physical Intelligence), Stewart Butterfield (Slack), Tobias Lütke (Shopify), Dylan Field (Figma), Jeff Weiner (LinkedIn), Claire Johnson (Stripe), Oliver Jay (OpenAI), Jay Simmons (Bond) as well as Y Combinator, Moonfire, Frontline Ventures, Pathlight Ventures, and Exor. If you have massive ambition and want to work on a hard problem, with a small team that moves fast, at a moment when the category is genuinely up for grabs - this is it. THE ROLE After proving our product and operating model internationally, we're now expanding into the US from San Francisco. This role is about bringing Athena AI Agents there first. As a Founding BDR / Sales Associate, you’ll be responsible for opening doors, generating conviction, and creating high-quality opportunities for Athena in the US market. You’ll work at the sharp edge of category creation - testing messages, earning attention, and learning what resonates before the playbook exists. You’ll be expected to think, experiment, and build, not just execute sequences and work closely with AEs, founders, and marketing to shape how Athena is introduced to HR, Finance, and Transformation leaders across the US. The pipeline you create here will define what follows. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Build high-quality outbound pipeline for Athena in the US market * Research accounts deeply and design creative, thoughtful outreach strategies * Open conversations with HR, Finance, Ops, and AI / Transformation leaders * Test messaging, positioning, and ICP hypotheses through live outreach * Qualify opportunities rigorously before handing them to AEs * Partner closely with AEs and founders to refine targeting and approach * Feed real-world signal back into messaging, product, and GTM strategy THE MINDSET WE’RE LOOKING FOR * A true hunter mindset - creative, persistent, and comfortable hearing “no” * High rejection tolerance and emotional resilience * Curiosity about why things work, not just whether they do * Comfort operating in ambiguity: evolving priorities, partial context, changing messages * A bias toward action and iteration over waiting for instruction * A strong instinct for leverage HOW YOU OPERATE * You actively use AI and data as force multipliers - for research, personalisation, pattern detection, and productivity * You experiment with angles, hooks, and formats instead of relying on scripts * You’re thoughtful about quality, not just activity * You learn quickly from rejection and adjust fast * You care about creating pipeline that actually converts WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR * 1-4 years of experience in a BDR, SDR, or commercial role (or equivalent) * Demonstrated ability to generate outbound pipeline in B2B SaaS * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Intellectual curiosity and interest in AI, systems, and automation * Ambition - you see this as a step toward a bigger role over time * Comfort working in fast-moving, early-stage environments WHY THIS ROLE IS SPECIAL * You’re a founding US pipeline hire for Athena * You’ll influence how the product is positioned and sold from day one * You’ll work directly with AEs, founders, and product leaders * Clear path to AE or GTM closing roles as the team scales * Your work will be visible, measurable, and impactful YOU MAY NOT BE A GREAT FIT IF * You need strong brand recognition to sell. We're still establishing our US presence and need someone who thrives on evangelism. * You need a fully built playbook before you can perform. We're building the US motion and need someone who thrives without structure. * You struggle with a GMT role covering international hours. Async communication, time zone discipline, and high self-management are non-negotiables. This is an in-person role. Our team comes together in the office Monday through Thursday, while most of the team collaborates in person on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. PACKAGE & BENEFITS Early stage startups can be messy – we know that. We're putting effort in providing you with the best employee experience and a quality driven environment in exchange for trusting us. * Market-leading compensation that reflects your value * 25 days paid time off each year plus public holidays * Share Options with 5-year exercise window so you don’t feel pressure to exercise if you leave * Free Thursday lunches at HQ, quarterly team events, and company offsites. * Top tier private coverage for health, vision and dental care * A new MacBook and tools you need to do your best work * Enhanced parental leave with up to 16 weeks for primary and 4 weeks for secondary * Learning & development budget WHY JOIN HUMAANS TODAY? HR tech is having its AI moment and we’re positioned to own it. Humaans started as a next-gen HRIS taking on large incumbents in a massive market. We’ve since evolved into something even bigger: an AI platform that sits across workforce data and automates the operational layer of HR entirely; the natural progression of what we’ve been building toward. The product is highly differentiated. It’s built around a structured workforce data model that makes AI reliable in an HR context, something no one else has gotten right. Customers notice the difference immediately. We’re backed by Y Combinator, Lachy Groom, Moonfire, Frontline Ventures, and operators who’ve built some of the most consequential software companies of the last decade: the founders of Slack, Figma, and Shopify, and Asana’s former CRO and Head of OpenAI International. We’re a small team with an unapologetically high bar. It shows up in the product, in how we communicate, and in the standards we hold each other to. OUR COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY At Humaans we’re looking for genuinely good people that are transparent and emphatic. We’re committed to providing equal opportunities, a diverse and inclusive work environment, and ensuring a fair interview process for everyone. You’re welcome to apply no matter your gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, civil or family status, age, disability, or race. PRIVACY NOTICE We care about your privacy.
