Als Network Engineer ben je verantwoordelijk voor het A tot Z uitwerken van netwerk en security oplossingen bij de klant.  Je begeleidt de klant in migratietrajecten en nieuwe implementaties.   JOUW UITDAGINGEN Je komt terecht in onze afdeling project services waar je bent betrokken vanaf de eerste fase van een project. Je communiceert duidelijk met alle betrokken partijen, zoals intern als met de klant. Je draagt de verantwoordelijkheid over je project en zorgt voor een tijdige oplevering. Hiervoor zie je de nodige oplossingen voor problemen en betrek je de juiste personen in het proces. Je identificeert welke innovaties een echte meerwaarde bieden in de performantie van de IT-omgeving bij onze klanten. Je bouwt vanuit ervaring inzichten op die je vertaalt naar schaalbare concepten. Zo kan de totale meerwaarde die Cheops aan haar klanten biedt ‘upgraden’. Je bent een expert in jouw domeinen en zorgt voor bijkomende ondersteuning van collega engineers voor die domeinen waarin je eigen expertise ontbreekt. Je beheert de planning, budgetten en andere middelen voor de projecten waarop je actief bent, en waarbij je zelf een rol hebt gespeeld bij het bepalen van de scope. Je weegt de beperkingen van budget, performantie, scope en timing steeds af in overleg met project managers en/of andere stakeholders.   JOUW TALENT Je plant met oog op het minimaliseren van de impact bij klanten en anticipeert op potentiële uitdagingen vanuit meerdere oplossingsmogelijkheden. WHAT YOU WILL DO * Safeguard the continuity of our trading systems infrastructure and facilitate our traders in their day-to-day activities * Monitor and optimise our systems which host a wide range of applications * Be the driving force behind innovations, ranging from realizing new links between stock markets and our network to implementing solutions that optimise system stability/performance and reliability * Maintain and improve the existing network/infra/systems which also includes network orchestration and automation tasks * Manage, maintain and shape infrastructures, develop and enact contingency plans and provide secondary and tertiary support to our teams * Frequent contact with internal and external stakeholders (traders, data centers/colocations, third party suppliers) * Proactively lookout for ways to optimise performance WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED * Bachelor's Degree or Professional Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent * At least 5 years of experience in IT (support/optimization/deployments) to cover wide area networks, branch offices, cloud, multicast routing, security devices (firewalls) and wireless networks * Desired experience with support electronic trading systems within capital markets firm or equivalent industry (APAC regional knowledge) * Desired experience supporting environments with low latency networks, capture probes and network latency management systems * Strong knowledge of Cisco & Arista technologies (L1/L2/L3 switches and routers, firewalls and wireless etc.)  * Understanding the specific IT needs of our organization (low latency, high performance, redundancy and high availability) and excel at resolving issues on the fly * Experience with Unix/Linux command line and networking stack * Routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, multicast routing [PIM SM/DM/SSM] * Hands-on scripting experience (Bash/Shell, Python and Salt) * Network related certification (example CCNP) is a plus * Knowledge in Cloud platform environments (AWS and GCP) * Knowledge of Data Center and cabling standards * Understanding of Project Management methodology and best practices * Able to produce quality documentation on network design, diagrams and support materials * Desire to adopt new technologies and ability to contribute as a team player Desirable knowledge: * Knowledge on switching concepts: VLAN, Spanning-tree protocol (RSTP, MSTP), Port-Channel, VRRP/HSRP, CEF, TCAM etc. * Time synchronization protocols NTP, PTP (grandmaster, boundary clock, offset) and GPS * TCP analysis and traffic optimization with concepts as TCP Slow-start, Dup-Acks, Retransmits, SACK, Checksum and Seq Number * Security (VPN, IPSEC, SSL, Access-Lists) * Network Monitoring (Zabbix, SNMP, Netflow and Grafana) * WAN Connectivity (MPLS, Ethernet and DWDM) * Packet decoding and analysis tools such as tcpdump and wireshark   Flow Traders does not accept unsolicited resumes from any professional staffing or search firms. Join our forward-thinking team as a Network Engineer, where you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and supporting high-performance, low-latency network infrastructure. At IMC, the Trading Infrastructure team is responsible for the WAN, LANs, and all low-latency connectivity to trading venues. You will work closely with Systems Engineers, internal teams, and external partners to deliver best-in-class solutions that support our trading business and help evolve our infrastructure to meet the demands of a dynamic industry. Your Core Responsibilities: * Design, implement and support the networking infrastructure. Key areas include Low-latency networking, Unicast and Multicast routing, OSPF, BGP, PIM SM, as well as things like QoS, STP, NAT, protocol tuning, etc. * Monitor, guard and analyze the proper functioning of our network infrastructure. Take adaptive, retentive and corrective measures and perform structural maintenance. * Proactively improve our infrastructure by contributing scripts and code to our automation efforts (e.g. Bash, Python). * Accurately create and maintain documentation detailing the implemented network components, as well as relevant procedures and other documentation. * Responsibility for our IT security related platforms. Key areas include Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs, Security policies, etc. * Work flexible hours. We are proud of the uptime of the trading environment, so every now and then you will be working outside of regular business hours to apply critical changes. This could be from your desk, your couch at home or also inside of one of our datacenters abroad. * Liaise with external vendors, exchanges and providers to explore new technology solutions, implement new services or troubleshoot problems.
