You will be responsible for performing large scale data analysis to derive statistically profitable predictions of market
behavior. These predictions are used to inform all of our trading, and improvements have a high and visible impact across the
office. You will also help to shape the direction we take across research and tooling. We have longstanding and significant edges
across market access, global reach, Options understanding and low latency. The rapid growth we’ve already seen in Machine Learning
has unlocked these edges, and some of the most interesting and impactful problems are now being tackled.
You will work as part of an established and growing research team, collaborating closely with traders, software and hardware

We work in close collaboration with various systematic research teams across Man Group to maximise realized P&L of strategies. Algo Research is one of the key focus areas for Man. We are looking for a Quantitative Researcher with a primary focus on Cash Equities whose responsibilities will include: * Creating high quality intraday predictive alpha signals in cash equities, from order book and alternative datasets * Applying ML techniques to alpha research * In-depth market impact modelling * Solving optimal execution optimization problems * Identifying highest P&L opportunities * Close collaboration with researchers across the firm Technology and Business Skills Essential * Ability to think creatively, to come up with and implement original research and ideas * Exceptional analytical skills; recognised by peers as an expert in one’s domain * Deep understanding of statistics/ML and an ability to apply it to real world problems * Expertise in a high-level programming language such as Python/ R Advantageous * Knowledge of market structure, participants, trading venues and microstructure of at least one of the major asset classes * Experience in intraday alpha research * Experience in building ML models * Experience with handling large data sets and tick data Personal Attributes * PhD or exceptional Masters / Bachelor’s qualification in a quantitative subject * Intellectual integrity with a keenly analytic approach to problem solving * Ability to deliver projects with high commercial value * Hands-on attitude; willing to get involved with technology and projects across the firm * Self-organised with the ability to effectively manage time across multiple projects and with competing business demands and priorities * Strong interpersonal skills; adaptability and ability to establish and maintain a close working relationship with quantitative researchers, technologists, traders and senior business people alike * Confident communicator, able to argue a point concisely and deal positively with conflicting views The anticipated based salary range for this position is listed below. Compensation packages would also include benefits and a discretionary bonus. This is the base salary range that the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting based on the location and requirements of the position as well as the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant. As a Graduate Machine Learning Researcher at IMC, your work will directly impact our global trading strategies. You will apply advanced machine learning, statistical, and computational techniques to solve complex, real-world trading problems, contributing to trading strategies across global equities, futures, and options markets. Machine Learning Researchers work closely with Traders and Developers in an environment where problem solving, innovation and teamwork are recognized and rewarded. Your Core Responsibilities: * Design, implement, and evaluate machine learning models for trading applications, with successful research deployed into production * Apply rigorous statistical techniques to measure performance, control overfitting, and understand model risk and interpretability * Investigate novel machine learning approaches through rigorous experimentation and analysis in real trading environments * Communicate research progress and outcomes effectively, ensuring knowledge transfer within the team and across departments * Collaborate closely with traders, researchers, and engineers to translate research into production trading systems Your Skills and Experience: * Currently in your final year of study, graduating in 2027 * A minimum of an MSc (PhD preferred) in Machine Learning, Statistics, Deep Learning, Probabilistic Programming, or a related quantitative field * Strong foundations in statistics and machine learning, with a demonstrated research track record in ML, deep learning, or another quantitative field * Proficiency in fundamental ML frameworks like Pytorch and experience in Python * Solid understanding of statistics * Desirable: publications in respected journals covering deep learning or time-series modeling * No prior finance knowledge or experience required * Ability to commence full-time employment in February or August 2027 You may submit one application per role each year.
