WHAT WE NEED At Oivan, we are looking for a Saudi Database Administrator with at least three years of experience in database management activities using frameworks such as PostgreSQL Patroni, pgbouncer, HAProxy, MongoDB. As an experienced DBA with a background in Agile Scrum methodologies, you will work directly in high impact projects to deliver high-quality technical solutions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and client expectations. You will be based on-site at our customer’s premises in Riyadh, KSA, and the position requires fluency in both Arabic and English. For this role, preference is given to Saudi nationals. WHAT YOU'LL DO Database lifecycle management - as a DBA we want you to focus on the following responsibilities: * Install, configure, upgrade, patch, migrate, and administer enterprise databases across multiple platforms, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL/MariaDB, and SQL Server. * Manage day-to-day database operations and ensure database platforms are stable, available, and production-ready * Design, implement, and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery solutions for database platforms. This includes technologies such as PostgreSQL Patroni, pgbouncer, HAProxy, MongoDB Replica Sets, and Galera Cluster. * Configure and support replication, failover, switchover, backup, and restore mechanisms to minimize downtime and data loss. * Support enterprise HA/DR topologies and operational acceptance of resilient database environments. * Own backup and recovery strategy execution using tools such as pgBackRest for PostgreSQL and native database backup tools for other engines. * Validate restore procedures and ensure DR readiness through testing and operational support. * Monitor and optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, execution plan analysis, monitoring, and capacity planning. * Troubleshoot production issues, identify bottlenecks, and improve database efficiency and scalability * Implement and maintain database security controls, including encryption at rest and in transit, TLS/SSL, access controls, user/role management, auditing, and hardening. * Support secure database operations aligned with enterprise operational and security best practices. * Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and operations teams on migrations, deployments, troubleshooting, and production support. * Communicate clearly on incidents, risks, architecture, and operational recommendations. Bonus tasks and additional responsibility for the person to grow into: * Automate database administration and operational tasks using Shell/Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform, Git/GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines. * Standardize deployments, reduce manual effort, and improve repeatability across environments through automation. * Work across Linux and Windows server environments to support database infrastructure and operational tooling. * Use monitoring and operational tools to maintain service health and support proactive issue detection. WHAT YOU HAVE * Hands-on experience in database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, migration, and administration * Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL Patroni, pgbouncer, HAProxy, MongoDB Replica Sets, MySQL Galera Cluster, and SQL Server Always On Availability Groups * Experience with High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), replication, failover, and backup & recovery strategies using pgBackRest (PostgreSQL) and native database backup tools. * Expertise in database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, monitoring, capacity planning, and troubleshooting. * Strong experience in Database Security, Data Encryption (TDE, TLS/SSL, encryption at rest/in transit), user and role management, access controls, auditing, and security hardening. * Automation Skills: Shell/Bash, Python, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, Git/GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps). * Experience with Windows and Linux administration, database monitoring tools, and enterprise operational best practice * Good communication, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
