Working within one of our agile Engineering teams, this role reports to an Engineering Manager. As a Senior Software Engineer, you
will be a technical leader within the team - driving architectural decisions, owning complex technical initiatives, and raising
the engineering bar across the team and beyond.
As a Senior Software Engineer, writing SOLID, secure & well-tested code is a given. You bring deep commercial experience across
your technical stack and a strong understanding of infrastructure, platform engineering and cloud-native patterns. You are
comfortable navigating ambiguity, making pragmatic trade-offs, and communicating technical direction to both engineers and
stakeholders.
You are a passionate and innovative technologist with a proactive, quality-first approach to development and keen to gain exposure
to the latest development practices and toolsets within an interactive and fun development environment. We value fresh

The Core Team is a platform team in the Developer Platform domain. Its mission is to provide central services around our core
entities and systems that make it easier for Product Teams to build functionality on top of. The team provides these "as a
service" through clear APIs, documentation and support - focusing on creating a smooth developer experience for other teams. The
team also focuses on topics like standardisation, re-use and reducing duplicated effort across the department.
As a Senior Engineer in this team, you will play a key role in shaping the platform's infrastructure direction - including API
gateways, load balancers, authentication flows, and container orchestration - ensuring our platform is reliable, secure and
scalable.

Purpose of the position Weʼre looking for an experienced Full Stack Senior Software Engineer for a new team in our Advertiser tribe to accelerate the delivery of our brand new Affiliate Marketing platform. You Working within one of our agile Engineering teams, you will report to an Engineering Manager. You will collaborate closely with other engineers, UX, and product managers to design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and well-tested software for our award-winning marketing platform. You are responsible for writing clean, secure and well-tested code, follow best-practice guidelines and help to improve those guidelines. Your code is open by default and easy for others to reuse. You are part of a team and with the team extend, maintain and operate assigned parts of our platform. As one of the most senior members of the team, you coach and mentor more junior colleagues, participate in knowledge-sharing activities both within your team and the wider Engineering practice. You have a good understanding of the user needs within your service and work with the product manager and other team members to translate these into technical solutions. You work through the entire lifecycle of a service or product, from understanding requirements, translating these into architectural diagrams, to development to deployment, then support and maintenance. You show an understanding for deadlines, find pragmatic solutions and are proactive in raising potential risks. You will help the team in solving the challenges that arise as our business grows and develops; working together to ensure the service continues to meet the needs of our business and its customers. The Team This role is within Team Argonauts in our Advertiser Tribe, part of the Growth Domain. This team are dedicated to serve our Advertisers by building the high value features that they need in our new Affiliate Marketing platform. Team Argonauts is a brand new team - a mix between new hires and new joiners from other teams. This gives you the opportunity to do more than just code and create great software. Youʼll be able to support your new colleagues, influence ways of working and best practices, and establish the culture in this new team. Hard Skills Required * At least 6 years of hands-on experience in commercial Software Engineering roles. * Good experience working with front-end code, ideally using Angular. * Extensive experience in developing cloud software using: * AWS services - Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB, Opensearch * Terraform for writing Infrastructure as Code scripts * Typescript * Java v21 with Maven, and Spring Boot v3 Docker * Docker * Understanding of relational database design principles, SQL query optimisation, and proficiency in SQL and non-relational databases like DynamoDB. * Experience and an enthusiasm for using and finding new ways to use AI tools to augment software development practices. * Experience using Git for source control. * Passion for writing elegant code and a desire to constantly refactor and improve, with a good understanding of the SOLID principles. * Expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs within a microservices architecture. * Ability to conduct a thorough code review process, write unit tests and maintain CI/CD pipelines. * A keen interest in agile processes eg. Scrum or Kanban. * Experience in monitoring applications (preferably using Cloudwatch and Datadog). * Knowledgeable about information security, able to design and implement solutions with mitigation against security threats Nice to have * Knowledge of TDD and Pair Programming practices. * Experience working with PHP, including building and maintaining web applications. * Experience with cache solutions such as Redis, Memcached, or other. * Experience with streaming and queuing solutions (ideally Kafka, Kinesis or SQS).
