OHB Sweden develops propulsion systems for a wide range of scientific, commercial, and Earth-observation missions. Our propulsion
solutions enable orbit raising, station keeping, attitude control, collision avoidance, and end-of-life disposal for spacecraft
operating in increasingly demanding mission environments.
The Propulsion Department is responsible for the complete lifecycle of OHB Sweden's propulsion products, including system design,
analysis, testing, qualification, production support, and future technology development. The department plays a central role in
enabling mission success and is a key contributor to OHB Sweden's long-term competitiveness in the rapidly evolving space
industry.
As our propulsion business continues to grow, we are evolving our organization to support an expanding portfolio of projects,
products, and technologies. The Propulsion Department is currently being organized into four functional groups:
Together, these groups comprise approximately 25 highly skilled engineers and specialists and are expected to continue growing
over the coming years.
We are now looking for a Propulsion Engineering Manager to lead one or several of these groups. The exact scope of responsibility
will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience, competencies, and leadership profile, as well as the continued
evolution of the organization.
This flexibility creates an opportunity for candidates with backgrounds ranging from subsystem development and systems engineering
to testing, verification, analysis, and technology development.

Experience within in-orbit propulsion is highly desirable. Candidates with relevant experience from adjacent industries such as

The Propulsion Engineering Manager will report to the Head of Propulsion and become part of the Propulsion leadership team,
helping shape the future development of both the organization and its technical capabilities.
Some travel may be required (typically 2–4 trips annually, primarily within Europe).

As an Mechanical, Thermal & Propulsion (MTP) Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the next generation of spacecraft propulsion systems at OHB Sweden. As our propulsion business continues to grow, we are strengthening our engineering organization with a new multidisciplinary technical leadership role. ABOUT THE ROLE As an MTP Systems Engineer, you will be the technical owner of complete propulsion subsystems from concept through qualification and production. The role combines systems engineering with deep technical understanding of spacecraft propulsion, thermal control, and mechanical engineering. You will coordinate multidisciplinary development activities and ensure that all engineering disciplines work together to deliver an optimized subsystem. You will lead the technical development of propulsion subsystems while coordinating a team of specialists within propulsion, thermal engineering, mechanical design, and structural analysis. Although these specialists provide the detailed engineering within their respective disciplines, you will be responsible for the overall technical solution and ensuring that all subsystem requirements are met. You will work closely with customers, suppliers, project managers, and internal engineering teams throughout the complete product lifecycle. AS AN MTP ENGINEER, YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR: * Technical ownership of spacecraft propulsion subsystems throughout the full development lifecycle. * Defining technical solutions together with multidisciplinary engineering teams. * Coordinating activities across propulsion, mechanical, thermal, and structural engineering disciplines. * Leading technical trade studies and engineering decisions. * Ensuring subsystem performance, interfaces, requirements compliance, and technical consistency. * Driving system budgets including mass, pressure, thermal, structural, and performance. * Coordinating subsystem verification, qualification, and acceptance activities. * Supporting customer meetings, technical reviews, and proposal activities. * Working closely with project managers to balance technical performance, schedule, cost, and risk. * Mentoring engineers and providing technical guidance within the multidisciplinary team. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR * Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related engineering discipline. * At least 7 years of experience developing spacecraft or in-orbit propulsion systems. * Solid understanding of spacecraft mechanical design principles. * Strong understanding of spacecraft thermal control systems and thermal engineering. * Good understanding of spacecraft propulsion systems, including monopropellant hydrazine and bipropellant propulsion. * Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering teams. * Experience coordinating complex technical developments across several engineering disciplines. * Strong systems thinking and excellent problem-solving skills. * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. * Fluency in English. HALL EFFECT THRUSTER EXPERT OHB Sweden is expanding its propulsion capabilities and is looking for an experienced Hall Effect Thruster (HET) Expert to strengthen our team. You will play a key role in ensuring that our electric propulsion systems continue to meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and technical excellence. This position is ideal for someone who has hands‑on experience with Hall Effect Thrusters, whether through development, testing, evaluation, manufacturing, integration, or extensive procurement and supplier interaction, and who thrives in a collaborative environment supporting cutting‑edge space missions. ABOUT THE ROLE As a Hall Effect Thruster Expert, you will serve as one of OHB Sweden’s in‑house specialists and technical point of contacts for topics related to Hall Effect Thrusters and their associated subsystems. You will work closely with propulsion engineers, system engineers, and project teams across the company to ensure high‑quality propulsion solutions for our satellites. Your work will primarily involve supplier-facing technical leadership, internal expertise, and system-level integration support, including: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Lead the technical aspects of procurement of Hall Effect Thrusters and related subsystems. * Evaluate supplier proposals, specifications, test plans, and qualification approaches. * Perform technical reviews of documentation, verification data, acceptance criteria, and interface definitions. * Conduct internal assessments of thruster performance, lifetime considerations, and compatibility with satellite system requirements. * Support trade-offs, architecture evaluations, and propulsion system configuration choices where HETs are involved. * Participate in design reviews with external suppliers and internal engineering teams. * Provide expert guidance on operational constraints, integration considerations, and flight heritage aspects. * Support anomaly investigations and provide technical feedback on propulsion‑related findings. * Contribute to internal knowledge-building, best practices, and technical standards for electric propulsion. YOUR PROFILE We are looking for a hands‑on expert with solid experience in Hall Effect Thrusters, ideally supported by a background in spacecraft propulsion, plasma physics, or electric propulsion technology. REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE * Direct experience working with Hall Effect Thrusters — development, testing, manufacturing, analysis, qualification, or procurement. * Strong understanding of plasma propulsion principles and thruster operational modes. * Familiarity with spacecraft system engineering, propulsion interfaces, and environmental requirements. * Experience interacting with suppliers, reviewing documentation, and handling technical discussions. * Ability to assess performance data, test results, and qualification evidence. * Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines. MERITING QUALIFICATIONS * Experience with electric propulsion system integration on spacecraft. * Hands-on experience with plasma diagnostics or electric propulsion test facilities. * Previous participation in space mission development or satellite delivery. * Familiarity with European and international standards for space hardware. OHB Sweden is a leading Swedish supplier of space systems. We develop, build, test and commission satellites and subsystems for space missions in, for example, communication, earth observation and space research for institutional and commercial customers within and outside Europe. We are now looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Propulsion Engineer for supporting our projects and development activities. Tasks included in this role are mainly, but not limited to, procurement of equipment, sales support, supplier & customer negotiations, requirement handling, testing of propulsion systems and analysis support to technical lead/architect. The Propulsion Engineer will work in the Propulsion department and report to the Head of Department.
