Adaptyv is building an automated lab that lets AI agents run biology experiments.
We're entering the era of agentic science where AI models can now design novel proteins, propose hypotheses, and iterate on
experimental results. But they can't run the experiments themselves - that's still a manual, months-long process. We're building
the infrastructure that gives AI agents access to the physical world.
We are one of the fastest growing biotech companies, trusted by leading biopharmas, frontier AI labs, and the techbio companies
pushing the field forward. This is a rare chance to help advance some of the most important work happening in biotech today.
Our automated lab is powered by a deep software + hardware stack: lab instruments worth millions of USD reverse-engineered into
API-controllable hardware, dozens of devices orchestrated through complex workflows, full observability on everything that happens
in the lab, processing pipelines for messy physical-world data, and AI systems that troubleshoot production results and accelerate
assay development.
We’re growing rapidly and are hiring for talented people to scale and support the massive demand for AI-driven wet lab
experimentation.
Behind the API and the AI agents there is a real, physical lab in Lausanne: millions of francs of instruments, freezers full of
reagents, deliveries arriving every day, and customer samples going out. When it runs smoothly, a customer gets their results in
days. When it does not — a reagent runs out mid-run, a delivery sits unopened, an instrument goes down and nobody noticed the
service contract lapsed — experiments stop, and customers feel it immediately.
You are the person who makes sure that does not happen. What is on the shelves, what is on order, what is shipping, and what is
about to break — that is yours, and you will run it. This is a hands-on, in-the-lab role, working closely with our Lab Manager and
with the scientists whose experiments depend on you getting it right.
This is a good role to be early in your career in. We are going from roughly 25 people to roughly 50 in the next year and
multiplying the throughput of the lab, and the person who does this job well will not be doing the same job in two years. We are
looking for someone who fixes things rather than reporting them.
our inventory system reflects what is actually on the shelf. Flag what is running low before anyone else notices.
relationships that make it all land on time.
materials in our lab software. You will be at the bench for part of your week.
and get an engineer on site fast when something breaks.

lab. We care much more about whether you are competent and reliable in a lab than about how many years you have logged.
instrument is due for service — and none of them drop.
out of a reagent, and quietly fix it, rather than the ones who report the stockout.

including for operational work. We would love someone who ends up automating the boring parts of their own job rather than
doing them forever, and we will teach you how. Curiosity here counts for more than existing skill.
something. If you need a defined process to work inside, this will be uncomfortable.
Nobody here has clean edges around their job. You will be in the lab, in the office, on the phone with a courier, and every so
often doing something that is nobody's job simply because it needs doing.
The centre of gravity is the lab. Office and team logistics come with it, but the lab is the point. You will be around the science
constantly without designing the experiments, and you will have real influence over which vendors we use — you are the one who
sees what works and what keeps arriving late — without running the negotiations yourself.
Most lab operations jobs are in labs where nothing much changes. This one is inside an automated lab that is being rebuilt and
scaled up while it runs, at a company used by the best pharma companies and the best AI labs in the world. You will learn how a
real high-throughput protein pipeline works from the inside, in a company small enough that you will see the effect of your work
the same week you do it. And if you turn out to be excellent, there is a lot of room above you: this team is going to be much
bigger in two years than it is today.

We’re growing rapidly and are hiring for talented people to scale and support the massive demand for AI-driven wet lab experimentation. ABOUT THE ROLE Adaptyv is growing fast. We are significantly expanding our lab this year, onboarding more and more customers every week, and building the systems needed to keep the company running smoothly as we scale. We are looking for a Founders Associate to own and build the operational backbone of the company as we scale. This is a high-ownership generalist role: you'll take entire problems and run them end-to-end, from messy first draft to a process that runs cleanly without you. You'll move between finance, customer operations, hiring, supplier relationships, and lab logistics — owning whatever is most important that week, not just supporting it. Most of what you'll work on is still manual, ad hoc, or held together by hand; your job is to turn it into systems and automations that scale, then move on to the next hardest thing. This role requires exceptional agency and an entrepreneurial mindset. You should be comfortable being handed an ambiguous goal with no playbook and coming back with it solved. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Own complete operational workstreams end-to-end — you're accountable for outcomes, not tasks * Use AI tools to rebuild workflows that are still too manual, messy, or slow, and turn them into systems that run without you * Own customer onboarding and help keep our growing customer base happy as we scale * Run finance and administrative operations, working closely with our accountants and service providers * Manage supplier and service-provider relationships, including negotiation and follow-through * Drive lab expansion logistics for our new lab in Lausanne * Own internal company coordination: events, customer visits, team operations, and the day-to-day rhythm of the company * Build lightweight tools and automations using Claude Code, Python, Notion, no-code tools, or whatever gets the job done * Design the processes and systems the company doesn't have yet — and make them happen WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR * A track record of getting things done: you've started something, run something, or owned something meaningful, whether at a startup, a side project, a club, or your studies. A background in biology is not a hard requirement. If you're coming from a different field, a genuine interest in the life sciences is important to us. * Exceptional agency and ownership. You spot problems before anyone asks, take action, and don't stop until they're solved * Entrepreneurial and self-directed — you're comfortable with ambiguity and no playbook, and you'd rather build the system than just run the task * Strong with AI tools, especially Claude Code or Codex. You use them to build real workflows and tools, not just draft emails * Hands-on, organized, and reliable. You follow through, keep things tidy, and don't let things fall through the cracks * You thrive in a dynamic role where priorities change quickly, and you're comfortable jumping between projects, responsibilities, and urgent operational needs DETAILS * Location: Lausanne, Switzerland (on-site) * Type: Full time * Start Date: ASAP Application deadline We are reviewing applicants on a rolling basis.

You'll work hands-on with automation and liquid handling, helping turn manual protocols into reliable, high-throughput processes. RESPONSIBILITIES * Perform molecular cloning workflows: PCR, Golden Gate and Gibson assembly, transformation, and colony screening. * Run protein expression across bacterial and/or mammalian systems, and carry out protein purification and quality control. * Execute QC of constructs and proteins (gel/capillary electrophoresis, Sanger sequencing, SDS-PAGE, and related assays). * Run biophysical and functional characterization assays — binding kinetics, thermostability, and related readouts — to assess expressed proteins, and help bring new assays online and optimize them for throughput. * Prepare reagents, buffers, and reaction mixes according to established SOPs. * Operate and support automated liquid handling and lab automation where workflows are automated. * Track samples, inventory, and consumables to keep lab operations running uninterrupted. * Document experimental parameters and results to ensure reproducibility, traceability, and data integrity. * Contribute to troubleshooting, optimizing, and scaling molecular biology and protein production workflows. QUALIFICATIONS * BS or MS in Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Life Science Engineering, or a related field. * At least 1 year of hands-on laboratory experience in molecular biology (academic or industry). * Proficiency with core techniques: PCR, molecular cloning, transformation, DNA purification, and gel or capillary electrophoresis. Protein expression and purification experience is a strong plus. * Exposure to protein characterization or binding assays (e.g. BLI, SPR, ELISA, thermostability, or similar) is a plus. * Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow and execute protocols with precision. * Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment. * Experience with laboratory automation or liquid handling systems is a plus.
