ABOUT THE TEAM In our Professional and Financial Services Business unit, we bring everything we have learned in more than a decade of Applied AI, and use it to help our clients navigate a rapidly changing landscape. We develop and embed AI solutions which help financial institutions become more efficient, enhance customer experience, and find the commercial upside in uncertain markets. Within the constraints of a highly regulated industry, we see so much opportunity for impactful innovation and are proud to set the gold-standard for marrying technical excellence with safe deployment. #LI-PRIO ABOUT THE ROLE As a Principal Data Scientist at Faculty, you will serve as a technical leader and domain expert who owns and drives the delivery of the most technically complex, high-impact projects and programmes for our most important clients. You also will set the technical direction for the data science team, mentor, and develop them so our data scientists remain best in class. This position focuses on deep individual contribution and technical excellence, influencing the broader data science community at Faculty. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: * Serving as a technical authority on machine learning, Generative AI, and other advanced data science methods to deliver innovative and impactful solutions. * Leading the development of shared resources, frameworks, and best practices adopted across teams and the company. * Contributing to the scoping and bid processes for large-scale, high-stakes projects, influencing client decisions with technical expertise. * Owning a portfolio of work within a specific sector, applying expert knowledge to deliver exceptional value to clients. * Leading and mentoring project teams and direct reports, ensuring the successful delivery of high-value and complex projects. * Acting as a thought leader, publishing papers, and presenting at industry and scientific conferences to amplify a distinctive AI vision for our clients WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR: * You bring demonstrable technical ability, creativity and flexibility from your extensive experience (in academia , industry or both) as thought leader in this space * You’ll have prior experience working in or for financial services clients, with standout examples where you’ve led the delivery of distinctive applications that have driven commercial impact * You bring broad knowledge across a range of machine learning techniques, including experience building Generative AI and agentic AI applications with Large Language Models * You have advanced coding skills in Python and proven experience building and maintaining scalable codebases. * You enjoy mentoring junior colleagues and have prior direct management experience, inspiring them to continually stretch and grow their technical skill. * You are highly proficient in strategic problem-solving and communicating solutions to non-technical audiences, able to select appropriate solutions and balance innovation with practical implementation. LONDON (HYBRID, 3 DAYS IN OFFICE) DATA SCIENCE AT MARSHMALLOW Our Data Science team partners across the business to turn data into better decisions, smarter products, and simpler customer journeys. We work closely with Product, Engineering, and Operations to build and ship models and AI systems that are reliable in production and deliver measurable impact. Within Data Science, this role sits in Claims, supporting the function and the broader ambition to automate more of the claims journey. Claims is one of Marshmallow's most important customer touchpoints, and we're looking for a Principal Data Scientist who can provide technical leadership across traditional ML and Generative AI, bring system-level thinking to how we scale decisioning, and confidently challenge proposals to ensure we build robust, sustainable solutions. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING * Provide technical leadership for data science across Claims Fraud, shaping the approach to risk decisioning and fraud detection in partnership with Product and Engineering * Design, build and iterate on production ML and Generative AI/LLM systems that support claims validation and automation * Collaborate closely with other Claims data scientists to bring system-level thinking to how models, data and workflows fit together, identifying architectural improvements needed to scale decisioning and reduce time-to-production * Be vocal about the platform and tooling investments needed (monitoring, feedback loops, QA) to achieve AI-driven end to end claims automation * Advocate for robust, scalable, and strategically aligned technical solutions in cross-functional discussions, ensuring current systems and infrastructure contribute to the multi-year vision for automated claims handling * Set a high bar for statistical rigour, experimentation and measurement, helping improve how Claims performance and uncertainty are understood and communicated to senior stakeholders WHO YOU ARE * You think in systems: you can connect the dots between data science, engineering, and product to shape scalable solutions that build on each other over time. * You're confident in challenging assumptions and pushing for the right approach, using strong communication skills to influence stakeholders across seniority levels and disciplines with clear, pragmatic reasoning. * You thrive in ambiguity and change, staying resilient and effective during transitions while bringing structure, clarity, and momentum to complex problem spaces. * You're motivated by real-world impact, partnering closely with cross-functional teams to drive meaningful automation and better customer outcomes across the claims journey. POSITION OVERVIEW: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Game Economist to join our team in London. Reporting directly to the Director of Economy and working closely alongside another Lead Economist, you will operate as a centralized expert resource across three different studios. Unlike traditional game economy roles focused on a single title, you will lead economic strategy and systems design on a project basis, supporting various games across our extended portfolio. While this is a high-level Individual Contributor role with no direct reports, your leadership impact will be massive. You will analyze each game, identify key opportunities and challenges, and build sustainable solutions while elevating our internal economy practices. You will establish best practices, develop robust frameworks, and mentor embedded game teams so they can eventually own and manage their economies independently. This role is highly strategic and deeply hands-on: blending advanced research, complex system design, cross-studio collaboration, and technical mentorship. At Gram we embrace a hybrid work environment. Within this role, you would work 2 days per week in our London office and the remaining days at home. WHAT YOU'LL DO: You aren't just working on one game; you are a key economic architect across three studios. You will step into different projects to diagnose economic health, design robust pricing and reward systems, and empower local teams to execute your designs. * Drive Cross-Studio strategy: Serve as the shared expert supporting multiple games across distinct studios. You will take ownership of the economic design phase for targeted projects, identifying gaps and implementing tailored solutions to drive engagement and business performance. * Collaborate at the highest level: Work in tandem with another Lead Economist and report directly to the Director of Economy to align on portfolio-wide strategies, tackle complex systemic challenges, and ensure consistent design standards across all studios. * Mentor and Empower teams: Act as a technical leader and mentor for game-level economy designers and PMs. While you won't have direct reports, you will lead through influence, training internal teams on advanced economic frameworks and ensuring they have the tools to manage their game's economy long-term. * Design and simulate: Leverage your quantitative expertise to build complex predictive models, run simulations, and design A/B tests that validate your design decisions and forecast the impact of new features. * Bridge the gap globally: Drive cross-functional efforts with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Engineers across different teams and geographies, acting as a technical bridge to ensure seamless execution from concept to live ops. WHAT YOU BRING: * A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Math, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, paired with a proven track record of designing and optimizing complex game economies at a senior or lead level. * Advanced analytical skills with a "must-have" mastery of Excel. Experience with SQL, R, or Python is a significant advantage for deep-dive research and modeling. * Demonstrated ability to drive strategic initiatives and upskill junior or mid-level talent across multiple studios or departments without formal reporting lines. You excel at matrix leadership and cross-functional collaboration. * A deep-seated interest in Free-to-Play mechanics and a sophisticated understanding of how to balance player experience with sustainable monetization.
