About Us: Lunar is a stealth technology company building a new type of software platform for health systems. We are on a mission to revolutionize healthcare with cutting-edge, AI-powered software designed to help every hospital deliver world-class care for their patients. Our platform is already the core backbone of health systems today, transforming clinical and operational workflows at scale with the world’s first AI-native hospital information system. This next-generation platform is a fundamental rebuild of the information infrastructure that runs health systems. All of it – from doctors, nurses, pharmacists, lab technicians, coders, billers, supply chain, and even patients – Lunar’s software powers everything, soup-to-nuts. We believe that this mission is the moon landing of healthcare – something so consequential and ambitious that most people believe it to be impossible. Backed by Silicon Valley’s preeminent venture capital firms, we believe in the power of a high performance team of seasoned professionals operating at the peak of their abilities. We value people who are driven, curious, have sound judgement, and care about doing the best work of their careers. We run hospitals on Elixir. We’ve embraced Elixir for its fault tolerance, concurrency, and scalability - essential for handling real-time patient data in mission-critical settings like Emergency Departments, ICUs, and Operating Rooms. We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer who’s excited to tackle some of the hardest technical problems in healthcare - and do it with a fast-moving, and deeply mission-driven team. If you care about writing clean, robust code and want to rebuild from scratch the software infrastructure of modern hospitals, we’d love to talk. Here are some deep technical problems you may tackle in your first 6 months: * Modern cloud architecture, built from scratch: We have no legacy systems to untangle. We’re designing a modern cloud-native platform with Elixir at its core. * Develop a radically better access control system for clinical data: Create a modern access control system with fine-grained permissions that respects clinical data structure and patient data ownership, while enabling population-level insights for better public health. * Keep hospitals online 24/7 - no matter what: Design and ship infrastructure that can handle rolling deployments, failover, and real-time data sync in environments where downtime isn’t an inconvenience - it’s a risk to patient care. * Bridge the gap between software and hardware: Architect a next-generation integration engine to connect ventilators, bedside monitors, imaging equipment, lab equipment, and more - reliably and in real time. * Push hospital workflows into the modern age: Rethink and rewire how data moves between nurses, doctors, and administrators - and turn confusing, click-heavy workflows into fast, intuitive experiences. Your Experience: * Minimum of 10 years of professional software engineering experience. * Proficiency with object oriented and functional programming, with the ability and willingness to use and adopt new technologies. We use tools such as Phoenix, Elixir, Python, Erlang, Javascript, Node.js and more. * Strong ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment. * Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a track record of tackling challenging engineering problems. * Intellectually curious with a growth mindset - able to tackle entirely novel challenges that lack prior precedent through applying strong fundamentals and first principles thinking. * Familiarity with open-source technology and a desire to explore and experiment with new solutions. * Experience building 0-1 with a strong product sense. * Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate technical decisions, trade-offs, and best practices. * A passion for making a meaningful impact in the healthcare industry through software innovation is a plus. Hospitals are some of the most complex, under-served environments in all of tech. We’re bringing the best of modern software practices to an industry that’s been left behind - and building tools that clinicians love, not tolerate. If you’re an engineer who wants to work on meaningful problems with real-world impact, this is your chance. At Lunar, we know our greatest strength is the diverse blend of backgrounds, experiences, and ideas that our team members contribute. We’re passionate about healthcare, but we are also passionate about creating an inclusive workplace where every unique talent and perspective is not just respected, but celebrated. We thrive on embracing differences and are fully committed to fostering a fair, supportive, and dynamic environment where everyone has the opportunity to shine. All applicants will be considered for employment regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran or disability status.
ABOUT CARBONCHAIN Want to work on the most pressing challenge of our generation? If you have experience building exceptional products, know how to execute at scale, and want to help build a company for the long term, we'd love to hear from you. CarbonChain helps the world’s biggest supply chains measure and reduce their carbon emissions, using verified primary data where possible, and robust defaults where it isn’t. We build software that turns messy, real-world operational and supplier information into decision-grade carbon and compliance insights, so teams can act: improve sourcing, meet regulations like CBAM, and deliver credible reporting to customers, investors, and regulators. We’re a product-led company operating in a high-stakes domain. Data quality, auditability, reliability, and trust matter as much as speed. If you enjoy building systems that customers rely on, and shipping improvements that measurably change behaviour across a network, you’ll feel at home here. OUR PRODUCT Our platform combines real-world emissions data with our customers' supply chain information to create actionable insights. We help sustainability teams answer critical questions: Where are the emissions hotspots in our supply chain? Which suppliers should we prioritize? What's the carbon impact of switching vendors or routes? A major focus of what we’re building right now is supplier engagement and CBAM data management: * enabling installations (goods producers) to prepare, manage, and share CBAM datasets through guided product carbon accounting workflows; * improving our supplier database and connection management to support sharing across supply chains; * and building ingestion pipelines that turn messy customer files into structured, provenance-tracked, insights-ready data. Beyond CBAM, our platform supports product and corporate carbon footprinting used by some of the world’s largest commodities producers and traders, helping teams move from data collection to credible reporting and decision-making ABOUT THE ROLE We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help shape the direction of our technology and product. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives on ownership and autonomy. You'll define problems as much as solve them, working across teams to ship solutions that matter. As a startup, we move fast and make pragmatic decisions. You'll need to balance speed with quality, navigate ambiguity, and be comfortable with the fact that your role will evolve as our customer base grows. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Partner with our Head of Engineering to design architecture and implement the most challenging parts of our system * Take full ownership of projects from conception to delivery - you'll drive initiatives forward without waiting to be told what to do * Collaborate with Product Managers to define new projects, plan work, and advise on technical feasibility * Work across teams - whether that's Sales, Customer Success, or Carbon Team - to understand needs and deliver solutions that work in the real world * Mentor engineers and help level up the team through code review, technical discussions, and setting engineering standards * Be comfortable with ambiguity and changing priorities - startup life means adapting quickly while keeping the big picture in mind WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR * 8+ years delivering complex software systems and getting large scale user adoption * Deep expertise in modern web applications and distributed systems * Strong collaboration skills - you work closely with Product to ideate features, advise on trade-offs, and iterate on what we've built * Experience with Python and TypeScript (we value versatility and broad knowledge over memorizing PEPs) * Proven ability to design and implement cloud-based system architectures * Knowledge of IaC/Terraform and modern CI/CD practices * Bonus: experience with data-intensive systems * Bonus: experience building SaaS and enterprise applications WHAT WE OFFER Meaningful impact and accelerated growth This is a rare opportunity to work on technology that directly addresses the climate crisis while shaping the future of a fast-growing company. You'll have significant influence over our technical direction and product strategy - the kind of impact that typically takes decades to achieve elsewhere. You'll tackle diverse challenges, work across the full stack of problems (technical and otherwise), and own meaningful projects from start to finish. If you want to learn quickly, take on real responsibility, and see the direct results of your work, this is the place to do it. Competitive salary and benefits: * 28 days annual leave * £500 home office setup allowance * £2,000 annual learning allowance * Private healthcare * Generous parental leave policy * Weekly team lunches in the office * Office gym, and cycle to work scheme CarbonChain values diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds. If you think your skills and experience match what we’re looking for and you’d like to join the next Climate Tech industry unicorn, please get in touch!
