Du kommer att ingå i gruppen Scientific Data inom den tekniska divisionen – ett internationellt team som ansvarar för hela kedjan från datainsamling med toppmoderna detektorsystem till utveckling och support av mjukvaruprojekt för dataanalys och visualisering vid strålrörens experimentstationer.
De detektorer som används för datainsamling vid våra strålrör är en central del av MAX IV:s vetenskapliga infrastruktur och kräver specialiserad och dedikerad support. Inom detta område söker vi nu en Detector Software Engineer som ska arbeta med integration, driftsättning och operativt stöd av detektorsystem samt vidareutveckling och underhåll av tillhörande DAQ-mjukvara (Data Acquisition).
Den huvudsakliga uppgiften för den framgångsrika kandidaten är att säkerställa optimal drift av kommersiellt tillgängliga detektorer, både positionskänsliga och energiupplösande, med särskilt fokus på megapixelbaserade fotonräknande detektorer och sCMOS-kameror. Arbetet omfattar hantering av höga datahastigheter och stora datavolymer med hjälp av moderna mjukvaruramverk och beräkningsinfrastruktur, integrerade i högpresterande och hållbara tjänster. Du kommer att arbeta nära forskare vid strålrören för att förstå deras behov av detektorsystem och säkerställa bästa möjliga detektorprestanda för olika experimentella tekniker. Rollen innefattar även bidrag till det övergripande mjukvaruekosystemet för datainsamling inom MAX IV:s edge cloud-miljö. Det finns också möjlighet att etablera samarbeten med andra forskningsinstitut som bedriver utveckling av detektorer för att vid behov kunna implementera skräddarsydda lösningar för MAX IV:s strålrör.

Dina huvudsakliga arbetsuppgifter
Integrera detektorer i styr- och DAQ-system (Data Acquisition) samt ge stöd för dessa system i drift genom att kombinera förståelse för detektorernas grundläggande funktionsprinciper med förmågan att leverera robusta programvarulösningar för vetenskapliga tillämpningar
Bidra till utvecklingen av det underliggande generella DAQ-systemet
Förstå strålrörens behov av detektorer och ge rådgivning vid upphandling av detektorsystem
Samarbeta med kommersiella och icke-kommersiella leverantörer av detektorer, felsöka nya och befintliga detektorer samt följa upp korrigeringar, uppdateringar och förbättringar med leverantörerna
Genomföra Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) och andra prestanda- och karakteriseringstester av olika typer av detektorer, exempelvis fotonräknande, laddningsintegrerande och energiupplösande detektorer
Ta fram och underhålla dokumentation för support, drift och förvaltning av installerade detektorsystem
För att lyckas i rollen behöver du ha följande kvalifikationer
Examen inom fysik, teknik, datavetenskap eller motsvarande utbildning, erfarenhet eller kompetens.
Erfarenhet av att arbeta med detektorer för vetenskapliga tillämpningar (gärna fotondetektorer) samt förståelse för deras funktionsprinciper.
Dokumenterad erfarenhet av mjukvaruutveckling och dataanalys i ett högnivåspråk (exempelvis Python, C++ eller Rust) i Linuxmiljö.
God kommunikationsförmåga och förmåga att samarbeta effektivt med medarbetare på alla nivåer, både inom och utanför MAX IV.
Förmåga att arbeta som en del av ett tvärvetenskapligt team.
Följande erfarenheter ses som meriterande
Forskarutbildning (doktorsexamen) inom relevant område.
Erfarenhet av kommersiella röntgendetektorsystem som vanligtvis används vid synkrotronanläggningars Strålrör.
Erfarenhet av utveckling av detektorer för synkrotrontillämpningar.
Erfarenhet av högpresterande och/eller distribuerad databehandling samt nätverksteknik.
Erfarenhet av analys av data i HDF5-format.
Arbetslivserfarenhet från synkrotronanläggningar eller andra större experimentella forskningsanläggningar.
Kunskap om Continuous Integration och Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
Erfarenhet av containerteknik och Kubernetes för driftsättning av mjukvara och tjänster.
Erfarenhet av arbete med FPGA:er med hjälp av HLS (exempelvis Vivado) och/eller OpenCL.
Erfarenhet av Timepix3 ASIC.

About the Role: Quantum Scopes is seeking a motivated Researcher to contribute to the development of advanced quantum microscopy and optical instrumentation. The role combines experimental quantum optics, scientific software development, and data acquisition, supporting cutting-edge research in quantum photonics and imaging. Key Responsibilities: * Develop and maintain scientific software for instrument control and data acquisition using Python and C++. * Design and implement graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for laboratory experiments. * Develop automated data analysis pipelines for high-throughput experimental measurements. * Integrate and test optical and electronic hardware, including cameras, detectors, motion stages, and laboratory instruments. * Assist in the design, alignment, calibration, and optimization of optical systems. * Troubleshoot experimental hardware and software to ensure reliable operation. * Collaborate with researchers to develop new measurement techniques and improve experimental workflows. * Maintain technical documentation and support reproducible research practices. The position Production processes at IRnova include test measurements and characterization of the products - large imaging arrays and integrated modules. Characterization processes employ a great deal of interdisciplinary knowledge and skills, such as technical physics, automation and electronic equipment, applied and system programming and mechanical design. Your mission will be owning the acceptance test procedure (ATP) which will include; · Coordinating the measurements on daily and hourly basis dependent on the current needs and availabilities including all logistics · Establishing and enforcing quality procedures for the ATP processes and equipment, incuding necessary documentation, tests and calibrations · Providing support to the production team for the ATP measurements including the methodology, hardware, software, logistics · Performing the ATP measurements when necessary · Owning and performing certain process steps · Participating, together with other Optronics and Development engineers, in the development of the characterization methods and infrastructure The position implies a substantial amount of practical work in the lab.
